I know how to keep a post going, just post pictures of my girlfriend, and I thought this was a music forum.

I got 2 more originals down last night. One was prety good to me, the other just didnt get it. I wound up calling the session a little early.

I forgot Andy had 4 other songs in the can that Ive done. One is on here called Save The Last Dance, the 3 others are rockers with some weird guitar noises I do. I will try to post these up. They arent finished just drum machine and guitar tracks, one has some vocals on it. I had forgotten about these songs. I guess Im bad cause Andy was asking how many songs Ive written over the past couple of years. I couldnt answer, but he said he had about 20 in his computor, plus I do some at home on my own recorder. I need to pay more attention to little details like finishing music up.

Let me see if I can load a couple up, I havent put anything new up in so long that Ive forgotten how.

Im getting a mix of the stuff I did the past couple of nights back the first of next week and I will post a couple of them.

OK some more teaser pictures. I also downlaoded some new stuff on my player. These are incomplete songs that Ive been working on over the past few monthes. Its the first 3 on the player.

These Guns Are Loaded is a dropped D more modern rock song. Has some neat guitar sound effects in there if you listen thru it, pretty good guitar solo, if you like a wah drenched guitar like I do. No vocals, canned drums, and no bass on it yet.

Rock N Roll Ho, is a song I wrote for my band Aint Yo Mama cause it kinda fits what we do. Its AC/DC meets the Beastie Boys. There are backing chorus vocals but no lead. I was waiting for our singer to do something with it. Once again canned drums and no bass, but I like the guitar parts and the tone that I layed down.

The Brave Soul is a song on the end of this piece that I wrote in the early 80s when the US invaded Grenada. The long first section is kinda prog rock buildup with all kinds of guitar noises, I love a whammy pedal and my Line 6 Delay modeler, I think thats what I was using on this one. Its kinda long and then goes into the Brave Soul song on the end. It has vocals on the end, agains no bass and canned drums.

Im taking these demos to our drummer and am going to get him to put live drums on them and then I may just go ahead and sing the songs myself. Thats one of the frustrating things about being a musician is waiting on others to get off their ass and do something. Thats why Im enjoying doing acoustic solo stuff all of the sudden cause it all falls on me, I cant blame anyone else when it sucks, and if it sucks I will be the first to tell you.

Guitarist listen to these tracks. I think when you record you should relly build your parts and make it special. Add weird sounds, sure you may not be able to do it live, but most musicians never really get to play their stuff live that much anyway. When you hear a song you recorded 10 years from now you want some sparkle to make it shine.

Have a Great Day

I like the tracks, JW, but I wanna hear the acoustica stuff you're working on!

Nice arm candy, btw!

Hey! What do you call a great looking woman on the arm of a banjo player?

A tattoo!

Philby,

2 of the acoustic things I did are pretty good. Andy wanted to play with them a little bit. He was playing with autotune and doing that Cher thing with it. Im proud of the acoustic sound thou. As I said we lined the guitar in and then put condensor mics on the body and the neck and it sounds really full. Andy ussually just lines me in, if you listen to PinBall Wizard on my player thats my old washburn straight into the board. But he was really pumped about the acoustic sound himself. He said he was going to start using that technique on people in the future. I have a background in recording engineering and like to share this stuff with him, and he listens.

Oddly last night we used a SM 57 again for vocals. The way we did it live it kept the guitar from coming too strong thru the vocal mic, but I was suprised at the tone on the vocals.

I plan on putting a couple up early next week.

Thanks for the props on my gal, shes the greatest thing that has happened to me in a long long time. Its nice to have someone in your life that you actually want to be around as much as possible. She has a traveling job so we get a lot of away time, but we talked during the session last night she listened in on what was going on. Plus I want her to know what goes on in my life. At first she thought I was some kinda crazy rock star, she was right about the crazy part but in a good way! She met me in a Karoake Bar of all places, and we jsut started talking and it went from there. If the gal hadnt fired me from my monday night gig a few monthes ago I wouldnt have even been there, so fate intervened heavily in this deal. I might not have ever met her. I was hanging around this place to get my own gig for mondays is why I was hanging around there. These places are an hour and a half from home and when the gal axed me I almost quit going altogether, but hell I dont want to overanalyze fate.

what I want to know is when you started wearing the blonde wig? Wanna borrow my pink one? lol

Anyway, hope the tunes come out ok, soon as I remember to put the headphones back in the Jeep I'll listen to some of the new stuff. Right now all I have are these crappy little built in 1.5" jobs, not worth bothering with.

JW - we're getting back into the practice room, Randy's wrist is better and we have to be ready for a new year's eve gig, hoping to get something before then to work the kinks out. Practice is set for 2PM tomorrow, so I'll be cranking up the old Champ to 10 again. Can't wait. I wonder if they ever made one with 11??? Now I have to decide which guitars to bring. I usually just bring 2 to practice, mainly so I'll have a spare if a string pops.
