LOL

It's all good Chippy.

:-)

Saved me from starting a new thread. LOL

Cause I know you get upset, trying to keep us focused on music, and I had been wanting you to know, that in spite of my keeping up with these other threads, I am working hard on music too!

I'm working on maybe 5 new originals, that are almost finished. And will be collaborating with Ryan on another one, and Mary on yet another one! :-)

I've also been working on alot of COVERS too, cause I am about to get booked at a couple of clubs in St. Mary's Georgia. I have been putting background music for these songs, starting off with midis and then tweaking them, and learning parts to play over the top live. I have probably done about 20 to 25 of these so far! Trying to get 3 sets of music ready for playing out.

I am also working on 2 videos to songs as well. One for the star spangled banner that I put up, and another for an original song.

So, brother, don't worry for me at least, cause...

I'M DOING A HELL OF ALOT OF MUSICAL THINGS RIGHT NOW!!!

:-D

Oops, read this too quickly.

Ok, Chipster, it is for "general music" discussion. It appears you're right after all, however, all the topics we discuss end of having music come up in them anyway. LOL

Can't we be flexible?

Don't let it make you lose sleep brother.

When we aren't discussing a variety of things, not alot gets posted sometimes. Without the other stuff, sometimes you can read all the new posts from one day, in a matter of minutes. Good for some people who don't need any more friends to discuss things, and want to get in and get out quickly, but bad for BandMix, which gets far less click-throughs and page views for their ad revenues. ;-)

The more posts (and arguments) there are about healthcare, unemployment, military base shootings, obama, religion, etc. - the less credibility this site has as a musicians site, and fewer new musicians will be interested.
.
As I post this, I count 18 topics that make some kind of reference to music, and 30 titles that do not appear to reference music (although they may).
.
So, a causual visiter will see what appears to be a site that talks about music about 1/3 of the time.
(works out to be about 36% of posts appear to be about music).
Check out the numbers of replies - for which topics - and it appears that music is rarely discussed, here.
.
What I am describing is the face value of what a new visiter will see here.

I think you are talking to yourself RM frankly.

People here are fine but I don't consider it a 'Music' forum either. It's a nice place to hang out and have a bit of fun sometimes but then other times it gets so deep and contrived I wonder if the FBI look in here to be totally honest.

There are other places for musical chatter, some of them are strange but they all work.

Yeah but Chippy, when you you post some music here you tend to get some real input. These are not the best of times and people are a bit more frustrated, everything from clubowners paying nothing to govt demanding everything.
I think everyone here has just been hangin waitin for your next output ,so you see it really is all your fault.

PS Dont believe everything you read.

I wonder if there would be more music threads if all the people who bitch about the lack of music threads started their own music threads?

I know, I know...

Seems to obvious doesn't it?

;-)

Huh? Yo are wrong about the bottom line my friend....

I do agree about feedback Glen. But then I get feedback from other places too. It's unhealthy and completely stupid to place all eggs in one basket, especially from a group of friends.

You need enemies to provide feedback. That's the best indicator that you've broken through something.

No offence to anyone yeah... :D

#1 Craig.
I told you that you should try for a news service since you obviously have ears and eyes for calamity and express your views many times over.

I agree with all that has been said on this thread too, especially about these trying times, they are terrible for sure.

But................

If you want an empty forum with just a few people guffawing and slapping each others backs over something we already know already then so be it. I won't be the first or last to go silent.

Just my two kind cents.

I checked out some other music forums, and outside of the HUGE ones, the ones that were comparable to BM or twice as large, even, alot of these place had not had new posts in 4 days, 7 days, 3 days. But they stayed on topic. WooHoo. An on-topic ghost town! LOL

That's why this place is better.

This is a REAL community of people who get to be friends.

Conversations here, like REAL conversations, end up going in different directions, after the initial point has been discussed.

Isn't that more natural, than a forum nazi, who doesn't like people joking with one another, or talking about controversial issues?

That's why I participate here.

I would have been bored out of my mind, and everyone else too, if there weren't some real-life things being discussed, and people weren't free to be who they ARE here.

The few times in the last 3 years that I took a break for weeks or months at a time, I checked back every so often, and it was just as I said. A few new people talking, but not regularly. There would sometimes be only 2 new threads a day sometime, if that, and only a few responses to them.

Sorry, but I have the opposite opinion. The heated conversations are what is keeping this place interesting. How many of you rush to the puter after work, and almost put some popcorn in, in anticipation of who responded to what, when the conversations got interesting?

LOL

Housewives of Atlanta?

Sh*t!!!

Musicians of BandMix baby! ;-)

Eh...I agree with Craig - this is a community of reegulars who can talk about just about anything & get their butts up on their shoulders. That ain't all bad, esp when you see the support we give to each other after the embers of the last argument dies out & someone talks about his new project, or has something bad happen.

I think, for the most part, that we're doing pretty well.

The one thing I don't like are the targetting threads trying to get ppl ousted & such, but I have no control over that sh*t, & I prolly shouldn't, cuz I'd be the 1st guy to censor it (even though I'm against censorship...I guess I am a hypocrite).

Gratt's on the new material and bookings Craig!
I agree that there is so little available in the industry right now that most don't have a lot of "music news" to post on here, so "other" subjects creep into the mix.
Still in all it is a great community here and my favorite band site!

Good Luck Everyone!
