How many songs could one write. By this I mean well thought out songs not just a 4 chord ditty with an adlib Jam verse could the average person write in the time/void and space that some threads occupy.

And how many of those could possibly have gotten the author noticed to some degree?

If words do not matter then why do these threads still keep popping up?

The very fact that they do of course tells large portions about members thoughts, but more about the owners I feel. For instance on sign up you are asked if you are in a Gospel/Christian band if I remember correctly? Two or three religious choices I believe?

My question would be why and why does that matter at all if you play an instrument? Why can you not let it be and let people choose what they want for themselves? Everyone will and does you know.....

Yeah! And why don't they ever ask if I'm in a buddhist band? I demand equal treatment!

Buncha damned religiousists!

Buddhist bands worship their PA speakers...you always hear them chanting:
"OHM....OHM...OHM..." :)

Seriously though this is obviously a musicians forum. Humans including musicians are often religious. So somebody started a religious and a faith thread to cater to the people here who care about those topics. We have done a good job keeping it within those topics. The people here who don't care either don't post or don't even read. Sounds good to me. When the politics threads come up I don't post because it's not in my nature to be interested. It looks like there are 2 current religious threads and the rest are mostly music. So yeah, this is a musicians forum.

If you say so Paul. Got no quarrels, only questions. You don't ask you don't know right?

I still think however its about as relevant as the car that someone drives this year frankly and I don't mean any offence by this either. Praps I'll just duck out of here for awhile?

Here's another question so I better understand.
Q. Are most bands/people predominantly religious in the United States?
Perhaps this should have been my poll?

Apologies.

I have been saying this since time immortal.

I don't want to talk, religion, politics or why your head hurts this am.
I am just as religious as anyone else, I just think that if you have to sell it to masses, they regard it like any other traveling salesman. (release the hounds)

I am here to talk MUSIC.

(Please do not crucify me, I will not be able to move the rock to get out of cave, let alone any other miracles du jour.)

Please vote

Yeah I have a habit of shooting myself in the foot but I so far anyway still have ten toes.

So what is the answer to my question? Cannot avoid it, its a straight question not to be dodged. Image

Been fairly busy lately. My son moved back home, taking a year off then going to school (hopefully MIT). Got him set up with a living space in my studio. He's helping me get all my computers up to par and helping with the studio, yard work and my parents (they're having lots of health issues). I still check out what's going on here on the forum, just haven't jumped back in on anything lately (couldn't pass up the Buddhist band thing though). Got a live sound recording job coming up in a couple of weeks so I'll be getting my equipment ready for travel. Also have to throw a band together for a show a local theater bunch put on. It's the Hee Haw show and they want me to get a side band together. Got a drummer lined up, but my regular bassist is going to be in the deer woods. I've got ideas about doing some funny songs. It'll be a countryish type of show and the Ozark mascot is a hillbilly, so I'm calling the band "The Chillbillies", ya know, like hillbillies only cool. :) I'm thinking we dress in overalls and wear dark sunglasses. We can play anything we want, but I know the crowd and want to cater to them. It'll be a blast if we pick the right songs. Maybe some old Homer and Jethro type stuff. Anyway, I'll try to get on here more. I KNOW ya'll miss me, but keep trying, your aim will get better. :)

I'm sure it will, Jeff, sure it will :D
Good luck with your ventures.

To all.......... Sorry I posted this poll folks I was taught to ask if I don't know something so I can learn. I love info on all things so I don't tread on folks feet. Trouble is asking a question in our modern world can and is misconstrued many times over.

In essence I am a talkative chap who ALWAYS replies to Emails/posts and questions if I can answer them at all and that they are within my scope to answer.

Ok it is time for me.
Keep well.

Chippy, I couldn't really vote on this as there aren't enough choices. It's definitely not cut and dried, 100% musical nor religious. There have also been political debates which were neither musical or religious. I think overall it is SUPPOSED to be mostly musical, which IMHO it is. Nothing wrong with throwing in some politics and religion occasionally as these topics touch many of the musicians on here one way or another. The main thing that should be observed is respect for each other and the posts of our fellow musicians. We should mark our posts for what they are about so as to allow others to join in or pass it up. Also, we should keep our replies consistent with the subject matter, although I know it's way too easy to go off on a tangent, and I'm as guilty as anyone else on here for that. All we can do is TRY to stay within the guidelines as much as possible, to keep from stepping on each others toes, and before jumping on someone else for hijacking a thread, think back and ask ourselves if we have ever done it ourselves. Let he who hasn't hijacked a thread cast the first stone.
Peace, Ya'll. 8) :D
