When I'm in a full band, I won't be writing lyrics that match the songs I listen to now.
I was simply saying that starting thread that says, "OMG I HATE EMO MUSIC IT SUCKS AND I WANT IT TO DIE CAUSE I NO HAPPYYY" makes you look like a retard. I understand freedom of speech, but some people need KNOWLEDGE of speech, and some opinions need to be kept to yourself.

I've never understood the need some ppl have to resort to violence over simple differences of opinion, eapecially when it comes to the arts. Aren't the arts supposed to help ppl open their minds a bit?
I guess that that single-minded total devotion to one form or other of anything can lead to stupidity...but I'm only guessing...

guessing isnt very logical when you lack sufficient information. im hardly devoted to one form. i listen to everything from mississippi john hurt to the chemical brothers. when you say someone deserves to die for doing nothing wrong to anyone then youve taken it to another level. my actions should be justifiable based on his mentality. based on his thought process what i did was also right. plus the dude was a creeper 30 yr old tellin college girls he was 21. he got what he deserved. i doubt hes said anyone besides osama, ahmadinejad, or kim jong il deserves to die since then. mission accomplished.

Um...rycky? I wasn't necessarilly referring to you with that statement. Lighten up. Go smell some roses or sumpin, dude.
'Twas a mere observation.
Of course, I now have "sufficient information" to determine that, if you think a mere beating at your hands would change anyone's ways, you're quite capable of thinking you have WAY more power & affect on others than you do in actuality. In addition, I can draw another conclusion about you - you like to justify your juvenile behaviors with rather skewed reasoning. It is also rather obvious that you are likely to give knee-jerk reactions to everyday situations, & that you are prone to overreact to others with less than socially accepted normal behavior.
It is also plain to see that you could use some tutoring in grammar & the use of the English language.
Of course, I can only draw my conclusions from what you show me, here. Still, bragging about beating someone up for a musical opinion does seem a little adolescent, no matter how badly that opinion was stated.
I also wonder if you've been so pure in heart that you've never lied to a girl to get laid. You sure seemed to be "creeped out," when someone else did it.
If you should ever get what you deserve, I doubt that you'll recognize it.
How's that for logical thinking?

i apologize if i came off as rude the nc dude has me a little agitated. hahahahahahaahahahahahaha those are some very specific conclusions youve made of me. u should be a psychologist. 1. i doubt i personally have the power to influence anyone or anything other than my dog, with whom i rule with an iron fist much in the way of stalin...not really i love my dog. i merely gave my opinion. 2. i wasnt justifying my behavior i was attempting to show how this particular individuals thought processes made it "acceptable,' which it isnt. there was much more involved in the situation then i will get into. 3. this is hardly an arena that would necessitate proper use of grammar or punctuation. 4. i didnt fight him for his musical opinion, i would never do that. to each his own when in reference to what one chooses to listen to he could have said one of the journalist in the middle east that was beheaded deserved to die for being somewhere they shouldnt and i wouldve done the same thing. regardless the dude had it coming and without you having known the individual or been in the situation you would not be able to comprehend why i responded to him in the manner in which i did. 5. o come now what man hasnt lol. but what i havent done is create facebook and myspace pages with a 9 yr difference in age to try and get my failing libido a rise.
either way, i think this has been blown out of proportion. i HATE emo music lol. can anyone give me a legitimate reason for me to see some good in it? other than critizing me for having an opinion that may come off as a little more militant than just saying i think as a genre they generally lack musical skill or meaningful lyrics.

According to all sources, they did not have a sexual relationship, nor did she sell-out her ideals... the two main definitions of "whore". Go get a dictionary, and then find an appropriate term for your disgust... whore is not it.

You're a screamer. I detest screamo, more than this dude detests Emo. Screamo has FAR LESS value or flexibility, than even Emo does. Screaming has to be the most one dimensional talent possible. "Look everyone, I'm screaming!" It is a little like a guy who can pop his eyes out of their sockets so that he looks bug-eyed. It's a talent. It's amusing. It gets attention. But if that's all he did, the question would soon arise... "Don't you have any other tricks?"
"Well... if I pop my eyes out in this direction, I am making a political statement... if I pop my eyes out in this other direction, I am making a religious statement... it I leave my eyes popped out for more than 2 minutes, then I am showing love... if I leave them out more than 3.5 minutes then I am showing sadness."
Right.
It's eye-popping, nothing more. Popping your eyes out one way, does not express a different emotion than popping them out in another. Screaming is screaming. It will not represent love, or sadness, or anything else, but anger. Screaming is understood as anger. You cannot scream a love song, or a sad song, or portray a feeling of discovery, or soaring, or depression, or joy, or all the other range of emotioons God allows us as humans. You can only be ANGRY. A whole musical set of ANGER? A whole album of only ANGER? A musical careeer of nothing but ANGER?
Useless. A tremendous WASTE.

Right. Well...
"I prostitue my pet pit-bull out to beastialitists as a BUSINESS to make money, not because I BELIEVE humans should be having sex with animals!"
It's your conscience bro. If you can play that game with it, I guess you will. I can't do it.
Ryan_Strain wrote:When I'm in a full band, I won't be writing lyrics that match the songs I listen to now.
Of course not... because you find something wrong with them. So you shouldn't be promoting those songs NOW either. Be a man. Stand for something WORTHWHILE. You have no problem standing in JUDGEMENT of others, and doing so with not much more than a child's worth of experiences to make those judgements with.

No Ryan, it is a TEASER. It is BAIT to spark a controversial discussion. It was done for effect, and it has paid off hasn't it? Cause we are all talking about it. But your own putdowns are the same. Done for effect. Done to get a rise out of someone. He titled this thread to get a rise. You insulted him to get a rise. But aside from getting a rise, he is LITERALLY angry about this musical form, and what it seems to him to represent.
He was not insulting any particular person though, just bemoaning the ill-effects of a genre that would seem to bolster whining and depression, and going away from the values of hard work and pulling yourself up with your own bootstraps. In a way he is using EMO MUSIC as a metaphor for declining values and character among our youth, and the decline of our country in general, since these are the future of our country.
You WERE, however, insulting a PARTICULAR person. Which would seem a worse offense, than the one you were trying to address from him.
