So I went to a bar tonight.... A BAR?!?!

I saw what I will describe as GWAR (crazy costumes with guts hanging out) meets the Chucky Cheese band (mechanized but actually playing) meets neanderpaul (one man band) meets, junkyard wars (yes, the TV show where they build stuff)

An old friend called me today because he was at Awful Arthurs seafood company ...

He saw this guy setting up for a show and had to call me. His band was all pneumatic! 2 drum machines that were drum kits. 3 Horn playing robots. a double neck bass and guitar playing robot. That alone was crazy. It had metal pneumatic robotic fingers with rubber finger tips. They actually played songs together and sounded great! It was all computer controlled and air powered.

I busted into the place long enough to remember why I never EVER go to bars. It's been years. This guy was worth it. For 4 songs anyway. The smoke, the drunks, and the foul language were too thick for me. I stayed long enough to soak in his act, wrap my head around it, and take some pics and vids (crap sound quality so I'm not posting the vids). He played mostly covers. When I walked in he was finishing "eye of the tiger" He played "We are the champions"!!!! and U2's "beautiful day" and an original about having a positive attitude.

He played Excellent live guitar too. The queen song rocked. His vocals are ok. Sometimes good sometimes weak.

But his mastermind to put all of it together was mind boggling. Wow!! 8)

When he wasn't playing guitar he was out in the crowd singing and dancing with people and writhing on the floor still singing!

Apparently he's been on the road full time since 03 and I saw something about 1996. He's been at it a while.
His website....

Um...that has to be one of the strangest things I've ever seen, but it sounds like it was a good act.

I'll watch for him, & if he ever gets around here, I'll be sure to go & see it.

Do they actually allow smoking in bars in your area, still, Paul? Wow! And I thought WE were backward out here in the sticks! LOL

Damn I miss those days!

Well,

Got to hand it to him for creativity and unique show.

But we'll stick with you and your looping machine and occassional roller skating! :-D

Plus... we know you have a good voice!

Got to be about the WEIRDEST sh*t I've ever seen! The "horn" section and "drummer" are BIZARRE! I hope you didn't get any ideas of trying anything like this crap. I guess the vulgarity goes right along with the visual diarrhea...

I think its pretty neat, clever and different really. Be nice if he had a band there too in some sort of support role perhaps. Maybe that will come? Turning heads however and that's pretty damned hard to do on your own.

Or maybe just a control freak with interpersonal issues?

Although you would think just the opposite, technology increases the space between us.

Don't know him so I cannot say.

You are right about the distance thing but that's not likely to change until the lights go out, our memories on how to create batteries is lost and we are all sitting by a camp fire once more :D

I gotta give him props for the amount of effort he puts into it all, even if his language skills are less than perfect.
