I'd be happy to help however I can with the computer... just say the word.

when I feel bad about my situation I just think of how many people are worse off and don't allow myself the luxury of feeling sorry...

for instance: my wifes sister has stomach cancer at 38... shes got three kids and they give her 2years at max...

when she feels sorry for herself she thinks of this 16year old she met in treatment... she's got bone cancer and the chances of her making it are slim to none... worse still the way they test you after each round of chemo is putting a corkscrew into your bone - no anesthesia because they need the cells as they are... apparently it's very painful.

there's always someone worse off especially in this painful economy.

believe me I was very down on myself recently and wasn't feeling too good... but I'm not going to dwell on that... cause I could get cancer tomorrow and they could tell me I'm going to die and then all this time I wasted feeling sorry for myself would seem like 'the good times'.

good luck... I wish you nothing but the best.

Eh...it ain't all bad. I just picked up the lil bastid, & we're having fun, just sitting & giggling at nothing at all. Ha always makes me smile, except when he's pissing me off, of course. LOL He's a pretty good lil kid - don't let this old grumpy pappy guy fool ya - I loves him to death & spoil him rotten.

I couldn't find the good camera, Craig, but I took some pics with the old one today. When the wife comes home to tell me how to get 'em out & into my 'puter, then I'll hafta ask someone else for help on the use of the photobucket thingie again. Hey, I just found the good camera, so I'll take some more tomorrow...

The truck still sits at Food Lion. I called & they said they'd leave it there for me & not tow it.

I figgered out how to fix this European chandelier for my customer, so I'll have that done & up tomorrow, & have the bucks, hopefully, to get the truck working again.

Ya gotta love the living moment by moment, eh? Being out of real paying work for the last 4 months or so has eaten up my life quite a bit. I missed out on all the high-paying deck jobs, the crappy roof jobs, the siding jobs, etc etc etc. Ouch! Trying to get re-established with my former customers is gonna be fun, too, if they've started to go elsewhere for their home fixes. I did get a call from one guy this week who needs some small work done. Every lil bit helps.

I have 3 gallons of chili on the stove, & Ian's bringing the beer. Like I said, it ain't all bad.

I guess I should make some calls & start playing solo gigs, too, if & when this frikken ear clears up.

Oh well, thanks for the good wishes, everyone. Sorry for whining.

Happy birthday #1! As you say - it's another day in paradise. Quite right.

Gotta go giggle some more. Keeps my spirits up, & keeps Jace happy. We're gonna share a cpl apples while we wait for the rest of the family.

Ttfn...bbl..c ya...write soon, even if it's nothing but a check...stuff like that there...

Well, last night, I had the scariest drive of my life. Instead of paying $75 for a 5 mile tow job, I had a friend with a tow strap come to my aid. Of course it was raining & dark, & he was pulling me up the road at 45-50 mph with his tires throwing stuff on my windshield so I couldn't see anything on a fairly windy road, while I was about 5 feet from his bumper...EEEEEEEEEEeeeek! But, thankfully, we made it safely, & it's waiting for me to get the funds together for a $140 starter for a 21 yr old truck. Crap!

Then today, of course, my son called me with...you guessed it...car trouble. I went down to get him, & drove HIS scary car to the mechanic. It's got both front axles busted, & the boots are completely ripped off.

Fortunately, he has another car, but the tags are expired on it. I'll hafta take care of that on Monday for him.

It seems to be a never-ending vehicle thingie around here, lately.

Hey Craig, the pics I took with the good camera ended up not so good, cuz it was so cloudy, I guess, & I haven't gotten the wife to show me how to upload the pics from the old cam, but they're on the way. I don't know how to use that photobucket thingie, but I could e-mail them to your or sans or someone if you like.

Go and buy some ammo for your guns and tell your local taxman to leave you enough to eat.

One of my customers is selling his summer house, & it's perfect for my son's needs. It's only about 600 square feet, 2 BR's, & 3-4 acres of trees with no lawn to have to keep up. It's a lil clear story in the woods, with good neighbors nearby, with access to that lil lake that I always fish in, about a mile away.

I took him over to look at it yesterday & he's seriously thinking about it. Hope he can get it, cuz it'd solve a lot of prob's he's having (while giving him a whole NEW set of prob's & expenses, of course!).

It needs a little work, of course, but I'd bet that he could buy it for less than $60K. Whatever work needs done, can be done labor-free, with ol' Pappy's input, cuz he doesn't know how to use a frikken hammer!

The best sign I've seen for this place, though, is the pink lady's slippers all through the yard. Only place around I've seen with those lil native orchids on it. (I tried transplanting a cpl last year, & I think one of them took at my house!)

It's also on a dirt road, which means slower traffic around Jace, yet it's very near the paved road so there's little chance of car damage, & it's only 3 miles from Pappy's house.

It would also get Jace out of the Martiansburg school system, which is a HUGE plus, imho.

Boy, I hope it works out & he can get it!

Picked up Ian's axles & my starter for the mechanic, today. Got his tags & inspection, too, for his 2nd car. I've been a busy monkey for real!

Now, if all goes well, I'll have my truck back sometime tomorrow, & Ian will have his own cars back on the road this week, & I'll finally be back to zero, so's I can start to have some sort of a normal existence, like the work search & the badly needed home repairs & the fire wood gathering & such.

I'm so far behind I'll never ever catch up at this rate.

I've heard rumors that we may get the new guitarist in for a rehearsal/audition as soon as Fri night, maybe? Omg I hope so!

In the meantime, I hafta find my old lyric sheets for some of my old songs to get back out there in the solo world. There's at least 5 of my own songs that went over real well in the past that I've forgotten - "Jelly Bean Soup," "Acceptance," "Barfly," "Colors," & that suicidal bluegrass song that I can't even recall the name of (I THINK they're in a box in my overly cluttered basement, so wish me luck in finding them)...plus I'm reworking stuff I used to play like "When I'm 64," "Send Me To The 'Lectric Chair," & a cpl Phish tunes. My fingers are still numbish, but the strength seems to be coming back the more I play, & my control is improving, as well.

I need a nap...haven't been sleeping for sh*t, lately...I wonder why...I better split some wood 1st, though...

Kramer's advice is good, especially about eating out. I spend over $500 a month eating out, this month way over that (I took the gf to the MGM Grand casino and had dinner, about $200). I like cooking but I'm so busy I can only do it a couple days a week. If I could cut the eating out down to once a week I would be happy.

Philby

Could have sworn I had posted on this already but can't find it so here I go again. I'm beginning to wonder if w have gremlins around here, this makes several posts I can't find...

First, sorry to hear about your latest string of mishaps, sounds like it was really suckin around there for a while. Been a bit depressed myself, very little work and same old bills, so I kinda know what it feels like.

If you haven't tried it, check this link

http://www.organicauthority.com/health/ ... -home.html

It has some good info, might help with the earaches. I know that's been a real problem for a long time. You can also just plug "natural earache remedy" into google and get tons of links to other things to try. Might as well, drugs aren't doing the trick...

I guess I've been fortunate in that respect, I very rarely get sick. No colds at all, I eat so much cayenne, garlic, ginger and vitamin C a cold can't come within 30 yards of me, and the flu is usually pretty tame if it does get me. I do get the flu now and then but usually spend no more than a day in bed, maybe 2, most people are in bed for a week. The only "drugs" I use for that is cough syrup. If I can afford it I make my own - whiskey, lemon and honey. Peppermint schnapps is pretty close, just add lemon...(the vitamin C is good, but something about the lemon helps even more.)

Don't think I've ever had an earache n my life and probably no more than a dozen actual headaches. Usually I can just ignore a headache and it will go away in a few minutes, only very very rarely does it grow into a problem, then I have to take something like 200mg Demerol just to make it bearable. (no, I'm not kidding, 200mg Demerol will not eliminate a headache, just make it bearable). That much Demerol will knock most people out for 2 days...I can go play baseball...guy I worked with didn't know I had taken it when I had an ingrown wart removed and got Demerol for pain. He told me ONE would knock him out all day, I had taken FOUR 50mg pills. Glad I don't have to do that often.

Anywho, try the garlic, it might just work. I use it constantly in food, and lots of it, one of the best things ever to come out of the ground, I'm not sure if I like garlic or cayenne pepper better. Combined with the other things I listed, I never get a cold, haven't had one in over 20 years. Maybe 30.

Also try to find a book on herbs. Lots of good stuff out there, and I think several herbs are beneficial for ear problems, but don't have time right now to do a lot of research into it.

Not a fun time of year to work on cars, and of course they usually pick the cold weather to break down. My fan just went out, so I don't have a heater until I fix that, but I think it's just a dirty switch, I'm hoping a shot of contact cleaner will do it up.

Good luck, I hope it gets better...

Now stop whining and go play yer bass...

I have an earache and I am sticking raw garlic in my ear canal.

so..

Having said that, never trust a place with a name like "Martiansburg" if you have no external antennae.

WINDOWS 7 is a scam! FYI!!!! LOL
