I'm going to the see the Psychedelic Furs tonight and I'm stoked! I've seen them quite a few times but they're always great. The Happy Mondays are opening; they must have reformed because I thought they broke up years ago. I'm canceling rehearsal for this concert, something I rarely do. Anyone else dig the Furs?

I saw them back around 79-80, I think. They did very well at Hammerjacks in Balto. (The Shuz opened for them back then, I think. The shuz later became Kix...)

I never had any of their product, but as I recall they did some good stuff.

Holy crap you saw them early on, that must have been cool. I saw them a few times in the 80's, and several times this decade. I also saw "Love Spit Love" in 1992. I met the keyboard player in 2005; he got us into the show on his guest list.

My tenth time seeing the Furs! We arrived around 7pm and the place was mostly empty. The opening act Islands came on around 7:15 and played for about 35 minutes. They were OK but the singer kept threatening "this is the last song" but they continued to play. I think he wanted more reaction from the crowd. Happy Mondays quickly setup and played a fantastic set, sounding even better than I had hoped. See them if you ever get the chance. Finally the Furs took the stage around 9:50 and played all of their great songs including "Sister Europe", "President Gas", "Forever Now", "Shock", "Here Come Cowboys", "Heaven", "Heartbreak Beat", "The Ghost in You", "Angels Don't Cry" and "Pretty in Pink". Richard Butler is one of the better front men in the business, reminding me a lot of Bowie and Gabriel.

Sounds like a good concert, Jimmy. I'll look for them if they return to my area.

Yeah, Richard Butler does have that whole "heroin-chic, glam-frontman" thing down really well. I hope they come around. I don't think they ever really got the attention they deserve. here in the states.
