fisherman bob & The Bluefin Tuna Band will appear at The Hideout Bar in Spring Hill, Ks Saturday November 7 9pm-1am. The Bluefin Tuna Band consists of fisherman bob (bass/lead vocals), Michael Emanuel (guitar), Mike Goldman (drums) and up-and-coming blues harmonica sensation Ruslan Ivanov. There's NO cover charge, and YES they even allow smoking at The Hideout Bar. Oh yeah, and there's plenty of refreshing beverages served as well...

Food? Wimmen?

Hey bob - you've played there before, haven't you?

I'll be there in spirit. Goof luck!

EDIT: um...sorry...I meant "GOOD LUCK"

Knock 'em in their butts & make 'em dance their feets off, man!

I used to live in New Jersey. The band I was in then played at a bunch of places there. Isn't there any place for you to play there? I think one of the places we played at is still in existence, The Main Street Exchange in Rockaway. I'm quite sure all the other's are long gone. If you've got a band together and have enough material to gig it would be a shame not to have any place to play. We've got a situation in K.C. where there's way too many bands and not nearly enough places to gig, especially blues bands. In the K.C. Blues Society there's over 125 acts and probably about ten places that'll take a blues band. I've always played in bars that almost never have blues bands and gone over real well. We might play this GIANT venue called Whiskey Tango, a HUMONGOUS country bar. The dance floor alone is probably about ten times the square footage as The Hideout Bar. It'll be like going from a closet to Arrowhead Stadium, that's how huge the place is. I should be finding out in the next few weeks when and if we play there. What a trip that'll be...

HOLY COW! I just tentatively agreed to play at Whiskey Tango at the end of October or the second week of November. I'll have to wear my Depends there. This place is huge, they can legally fit 5,500 people in there! If we do good on a Thursday (and we wll) then we might open for somebody huge on a Friday or Saturday. The people I've talked to there couldn't be nicer, hopefully they are the same in person...

Thanks for your support. For so many years we have tried to get into the big blues venues. There's SO MANY blues acts in K.C., many of whom have been playing for DECADES. It's TOUGH to break into that circuit. With this latest project I've taken a different view. I just want to play ANYWHERE. I don't care what the venue is. We need to get in front of people, the more the merrier. This last gig was a very pleasant surprise. Country fans are way more sophisticated than they are portrayed to be. Whether you like country or not, you have to admit that the precise musicianship of the top country acts IS very impressive. Country fans appreciate all good music. I found that out in a most pleasant way (and got a repeat gig out of it). So I'm NOT going to pursue one type of venue. We've got two blues venues in town that are booked for AT LEAST A YEAR on Fridays and Saturdays. Why even bother to try and get in them? Hopefully some day they'll call me, but I'm not going to hold my breath. We're going to go play, anywhere, any place, any time. (As long as we can make some money at least...)

I think they have a website (whiskey tango.com?). There's a picture on there with what looks like thousands of people. A little intimidating for somebody used to playing in small clubs...

I'm still not going to change anything we play. I think the country fans will appreciate us. I may add a few old time country tunes but it's going to be rock'in blues as always.

Lots of todays county music fans grew up on rock and blues. Shouldn't be any trouble at all winning them over. Good luck with it, and (as if you wouldn't) keep us up to date, especially on the bigger venues. They will come!

Thanks Ratsass. I'm assuming we're playing there on Nov.12, I've got to call and confirm. Like I said in a previous post, country fans are way more sophisticated and diverse in their musical tastes as some would lead you to believe. We've already got a few country-flavored songs in the repertoire. Some of the old blues delta (accoustic) tunes are VERY country. We'll do fine at Tango I'm sure.

We play in the country. Does that count ? 8)
Your music is good Bob and you have a good variation of instruments.
Surely you will do well. I mean how many people could listen to "pop" counrty music alone? Geez that fake twangy voicing makes me want to hurl.
