I think they have similar in Austin, I've met a few street people there years ago who said they lived "in the tunnels", which I figured was the drain system. Same for Houston, I think there have been news stories about it. I'm sure other large cities have similar situations - Chicago, New York, etc.

One interesting thing about Houston, they have a tunnel system under the downtown area with stores and restaurants, once you find the right stairway or elevator (which I did by accident) there's a whole underground shopping area under the entire downtown area. Not sure how far it goes, but I went down there and walked around several times just to see some of it.

Takes all kinds I guess.

Up until recently, there was a whole subculture of ppl raiding dumpsters at grocery stores & other stores as well. They almost lived entirely on what they found there.

Now the groceries send their out of date stuff to shelters & such.

It's just another sign that our country is in serious economic times, I think, when I see stories like this.

They keep telling us that things are better, but who are they better for?

Jobs are being found, but they're NOT higher paying, quality jobs. More & more ppl are at the point where they work at convenience stores just to make ends almost meet. They get 2 or 3 part-time jobs instead of one good job. Is anyone in our gov't really listening or taking any action to make things better? Or are they just looking at the stats of more ppl working & taking that as a sign that there is improvement where there is none?

I believe most if not all of the "undergroud" are there because they cant hack it for some reason. Drugs Alcohol and some are just TFN.
Millions of forign nationals sneak or are smuggled into America, for jobs,
because She is the land off opportunity.
Opportunity to succede, or to fall on your face.
