We have to remember that the World Trade Center was bombed in the early 90's. They came perilously close to knocking down the entire building with everybody in it. It would have knocked down other adjacent buildings again with everybody in those. 9/11 was the SECOND attempt to bring down the World Trade Center. I talked with a guy from Turkey in the early 80's who was in the Turkish Special Forces. He told me way back then that America would be hit with huge terror strikes. Since Israel was founded America has been a target of Fundamentalist Muslim rage. I'm rather surprised it took as long as it did for us to be attacked. ANd we're going to be attacked again. War doesn't end in the Arab world. It's permanent, until a fatwah is issued declaring its end. As of today I haven't heard any of them surrendering...

Thanks a lot! I appreciate it! We are very excited about the response. Going into the studio to do a major EP.
I like your song..."Dare to Die" Like the riff.....
Holy...I just realized I was 10 years old on September 11th, 2001....If I remember correctly, I was doing my school work (Homeschooled). I started my Math, then my mom turned on the TV and saw the news. We then got the rest of the day off of school...So it was a good day for me, until I realized what actually happened :p

Yeah, I ended up getting the car. It was a 98 Civic 2-door. I really loved that car, but had trouble keeping up with the payments because I got laid off twice the following year. I ended up losing the car.

Here's my 9-11 story, if it's much of one-
I was at the office here in PA, news rolled into my department about 10 minutes after it happened..
Trying to get onto any of the major news sites online was a failure, everything was timing out (probably from the flood of traffic).
Our office was attached to a hotel (both about 10 stories tall), and the hotel had a TV in the lobby, so me and a few co-workers went down to check it out (about 30 minutes later, our bitch-boss was watching us...)
We got in front of the tv and no less than 5-10 minutes later, the tower collapsed, and not long after, the next one right behind it. It was surreal... unbelievable. There were about 75 people from the hotel also watching.. everyone was just shocked.
They pulled a TV out of a closet at the job and set it up in the board room. About half the company employees were watching off and on- I recall bitchboss popping her head in the door and taking a mental roll call of everyone "slacking" on the job...
So one of our clients, AMEX, owned most of BLDG 5 (going from memory here), and one of the towers shaved off the entire corner of their building, pretty much taking their 3rd floor data center (unfortunately all of it in THAT corner heh) and moving it to the basement, so to speak.
They called us the next day, and were having TONS of computers and gear being couriered in from all over the country to rebuild their entire data center from off-site backups, and needed us to come up and re-configure a server for our application and restore the backup, and also same for the SQL server that supported our databases.
So I ended up going up there on the 13th (I think), it was either 2 or 3 days later.
The new data site was across the river in Jersey, but DIRECTLY across from the pile of rubble that used to be the WTC.
Their IT guy walked me up to the roof and we stared across the river.. it was disturbingly close.. and smoldering. The smell was sickening.. especially considering that we KNEW some of that smell was people, or body parts.
So anyways..
The guy pointed to a largely-glass building that was more on the waterfront, closer to us, the WTC pile was right behind it.. and he asked me "You see that glass building in front of the rubble?"
Yeah.
"see how the pile of WTC rubble behind it is a little taller?"
Yeah.
"That glass building is more than 20 stories tall"
OMG, talk about perspective
So anyways, about 14 hours later.. we finally finished my part of the job. I went back to my car, which was just parked on the street, and it was completely covered, not measurably, but still covered, with soot, dirt, ash, etc... I had to dry-wiper it and then just hit the highway.. it stuck a lot though, had to car-wash it off a couple of days later.
AMEX called my bitchboss and told them I was critical in helping them and thanked us 1000 times over for the immediate response.
Didn't help me though, bitchboss made up a bunch of lies, and gave me my walking papers the next week. Fired for gross misconduct. Not eligible for unemployment.
I still keep my eyes out for bitchboss, she's the only woman in the world I'd ever hit. Hard. With a large object, like a truck, if possible. But that's another story.

Yeah, I do a lot of IT and SQL stuff. Amazing that I'm only worth $40k in todays market.
In 1999, I was worth almost triple

Eek!
That sounds like a town I now but only in a different trade and another place. I do a few jobs here and there but there aren't many people looking around here in NJ frankly its all of it a ghost town pretty much now.
That said I believe in things turning full circle again. If I catch something and I cannot handle it I'll throw it your way Kramer, Keep your chin up pal ok.

Kramer, you realize that people here in NJ doing the same function you described are at 65k$.
You should check out this area, 40K sounds like they are blackmailing you and that's why you are still there.

Factor in the cost of living and it's a wash. I'm doing my time, waiting for the economy to bounce back..
Long story short - after the tech burst, I couldn't find work in my field, for years. I specialize, and that makes me even less desirable, unless your company needs the specific combination of IT and SQL skillsets, but ..
This company I'm with now did. They brought me in at "entry level" 40k, promised me that if I was half as good as I say, I'd get 60-70 at my one-year review.
2 months prior to the review, I had a meeting where my boss assured me that he was happy with my performance and that he's recommended the salary hike already.
So with LESS than one month to go, we get the news that our company was sold to a corporate (acquisition) and guess what.. all salaries got frozen, all deals null and void.
So when I got my review, I got the corporate standard 3%. Then our benefits went up 13%, and my cost of living went up 23%. A staggering loss. No amount of pleading could change the corporate mind "that's policy....can't make exceptions...blah..blah"
Then the economy TANKED literally the same month (sept 2008)
I couldn't afford to move to NJ if I wanted to anyways. I'm totally trapped at this point (you've noticed all my rants lately about being poor...)
So I'm just biding my time.. being a good corporate worker.. waiting for the economy to bounce back... then off to find a better paying job.
I have been looking, but the pickins are slim to none.
