Whilst you guys get lost in your ground and pound this guy may pull it off.
I did not have shyt when I started here, now our band is out giging.
I am no pro, and got a long way to go myself.
But I see no point in lighting this guy up just because he has more desire than power.... at present.
I once knew five guys who had the strange idea of playing loud rockin original Christian music. And now they are doing it.
Sure, this guy may be working against the odds, but whom in music is not ??

"I wouldn't call myself a musician based on my standard of playing so far. Therefore no samples."

"I've openly said I don't have the abilities to play that stuff."

"Getting the right people is highly important so I don't want to put that off till I'm able to play well."

"I don't having a concret musical idea set up..."

"If I went to a tutor I could be up and running in a few months."

"I hope to develop my playing quick."

"Bumpitty bump."

No mention of any improvements. No mention of going to that tutor. Nothing new in 3 months' time. Still looking for ppl to play music that he can't play, while he sucks all he can out of the ppl who've worked to get where they are to glorify his vision of the perfect band...then stir in this little bit of spice -

"Intolerant of most cliched metal nonsense and overhyped sh*t like Zep and Beatles though I listened to plenty of that. But the main bands are in the title. You're either with or against them and me"

Sounds like a wanker to me, sans - a HUGE waste of time, & probably a jerky control freak as well.

Gee...where do I sign up?

Thanks for the advice, oh successful one. Maybe I'll just take to your advice then I'll be that great myspace/youtube/twitter artist ever seen.

Yeah, I can see that you know what you're doing, pal. You're trying to get by without doing the work, ya wanker. You want everyone else to do it all for you, but you want to get the credit & to call it "your band."

You can lie to yourself all you want to, but we, sir, are musicians. You don't appear to want to put in the necessary work, & we can all see that.

I thought that showing you the error of your ways was a kindness.

Good luck with your pipe dream, child. Let us know how it works out for you.

I actually HAVE made a living playing music, junior. Have you done ANYTHING to make a living on your own, or are you still living with your mommy, or do you have a girl friend with a great job? LMAO

My goodness, "moo!" Just look at your profile - it's virtually nonexistent! No mention of age or experience level. No influences listed. No equipment listed. No music. Do you REALLY think that THIS thread will get you ppl to play with? Do you think your piece of crap profile will draw ppl to you?

You're less than a pimple in here, bub. Go do the work. Then fill out your profile. Then try like hell. Just like anyone else. Or just go. Whatever you do, quit your verbal masturbation in here, idjit.

"I have this idea, man, & it's GREAT! I'm gonna open up a new medical practice! All I gotta do is contact some good Dr's o/l, & set up an office & then they can teach me how to be a Dr, too! Then we'll ALL make lotsa money & they'll be oh so happy they met me & followed my great leadership! I don't have any knowledge of how to run an office, & I don't have any money, so they'll have to contribute a bit, but it's a great idea & it should work! I can't wait to get started! I'll be going to med school, later, but I think it's important to get things off the ground right now, don't you? We won't let any proctologists in, though. We don't need that kind of business in our perfect little office!"

You're a blathering babbling lazy little twit, moo, with no ideas at all. Do the work. Have SOMETHING to offer other than lame-assed arguments & excuses that don't hold water.

Once again, moo, you FAILED here. You're still a wanker wannabe, & you still obviously don't want it enough to put any real effort into it.

Have you considered AMWAY?

Assumption after assumption. I thank you for your rant though.

It's something more than verbal masturbation and even if it was, it's no more pointless than gaining the same set of skills as musician X and playing some covers or lame originals in some small joint. Why not just ignore this thread and go back to being around your fellow musicians?

Since your 1st post, I learned a few more songs & played 5 gigs, & also jammed at 4 open mics. What have you actually accomplished, musically, in the last 3 months, moo? Oh, that's right! You've been "hoping to develop your playing pretty quick," haven't you? Have you even laid your hands on an instrument in that time? Somehow I doubt it.

 :? :P :?

Are my assumptions that far off? Show me where. So far you've been all talk & no music, all plans & no ability, just a promise to learn the craft LATER, while you want your potential players do the work NOW, & teach you while they're at it.

Hey moo, do you even own a musical instrument? I can't tell after looking at your profile.

Yeah, you're right...I think I'll go hang out with musicians & leave your lame ass right here panhandling for others to do it all for ya.

WANKER!

So ... ok, I apparently was wrong....again. :(

The one little fact I picked up quick as an amiture is not to sling poo at better more experienced musos. Even if I happen to disagree.

Hell, sans, I still don't know what instrument he wants his fellow musicians to teach him while they play all the music that he wants them to & they carry his sorry ass around while they wait for him to start practicing to learn his parts & sh*t...do you?

Nope.

I'd say the profile is a tad thin.

I don't sling poo unless someone slings it at me first. I don't care if philby is Vai, this kind of forum policing puts me off.

And he's clearly got some past issues with other people in his band or whatever. This moaning at me is unjustifiable.

I think perhaps if you looked at, and approached it from the same perspective I did when I began building our band and my profile here.
You may find that Phil, and many of the other musicians here are more than willing to help.
If you have no or little musical experience you cannot expect higher level musicians to jump aboard your project.
Might I suggest that you keep your enthusiasm for your project, but put some realistic perspective on your approach.
You say you play guitar. Ok, how would one know that by reading your profile?
Did I miss something?
You simply cannot post what you want as an end game result and expect others to fill in the blanks.
Ray and I worked together for better than two years before I ever went looking for a drummer and a bassest. We even played a gig, just the two of us, to see if the project was even worth expanding upon.
Go back, flesh out your profile. Post some examples of your guitar work and fill in the blanks about where you are as a musician. Be specific.
Put up some pictures, make it real for people to see.
Then you can search for like minded and skilled musicians to build from.
Instead of considering critique as "police" take it for what it is.
Criticism is a neccessary component of being a performing artist.
That being said, would it not make sense to have something tangeble out there to be criticised for? It's a process, a journey. Have a written plan for yoursef and for others to follow. Now go do the homework !!
Good luck.

Thanks. I do appreciate the advice, it's just that I didn't think it was fair to be jumped upon for having ideas of my own too. I am getting better at my playing.

I wasn't looking to rope in better quality musicians, it was a common shared vision I was looking for.

Moo good luck with your project everyone has to start somewhere.

When I started playing I used people rants at me to push me to be a better player, basically to show them wrong. You might not like what Philby has said but if it pushes you to be a better player then that has served its purpose.

If you are trying to do something different musical you will have to get used to people slamming you and not on a forum to your face. 3 years ago I got back into my old band and went around trying to book it everyplace I could find. For every gig I got, I got at least 15 NOs. You need to develop thick skin.

My philosophy on here is if all someone does is slam me is I just ignore it, dont be distracted, make your plan and execute your plan, its a long road to the top if you want to rock n roll.

I will add that the way to put together a band is get out there with people who are doing something similiar to what you want to do. Leaving things on these boards is not going to get things going for you. Go see local bands playing in venues that you would like to play in, get to know the local players. Your concept may work great in your mind, but in reality if you cant draw people with it you will be dissapointed. The best way to get experience in music is to just get out there and do it. You dont list an instrument. If you happen to be a singer Karoake is a great place to start. I consider myself a semi-pro musician, but I frequently go to Karoake bars and try new material. Sometimes the things n my head that I think I will sound good on dont when I actually step up to the mic.
