Wow, thats a nice studio you are working on Craig!

It's nice looking & all. Is it a little cramped? Are there adequate sound baffles? Looks like a lot of 90 degree angles & hard surfaces.

I'm no acoustic engineer, but it looks like it needs some more work. Have you seen those corner baffles some ppl are using these days? I haven't seen them, but my drummer is planning on getting them, & told me about them.

Wow, looks just like what's in my studio (the chair, that is).
Good looking setup. Did you say that part of it your mom already had, and then you incorporated your stuff into it? Looks like all you'd need for building some good songs. Very intimate setting, singers should be very comfortable there. The trac lighting is nice, but are you using the money saving fluorescent bulbs? I put those in my studio and found out they can cause a little hum. Something to watch out for.

Looks like the only thing he would need would be a vocal shield, they are less than 300 bucks and are placed behind the vocal mic like a miniature studio wall, has all the baffles to give a full vocal sound. aside from that, it might be a little tight for working with the guitars, but looks great!

I once had this pink insulation all over my walls in my studio... man did that look like crap... but it sounded great!

I bought an antec sonata for around $100 a few years back... and it is truly a great comp case... quiet power supply fan, quiet main fan...and yet it stays cool - not easy to accomplish.

I'm nervous, but excited that I can get some business in here. I need some cramming on mastering, but my mom has taken courses on it, has plenty of books, and was tutored by a guy who is really big in engineering right now. He's won a grammy, and does all of Time Life's remastered collections they sell on those infomercials. He's been doing work for BBC in the U.K. too recently. He told her that she had a great ear for it.

Anyway, she knows more than I do, on engineering right now.
Got some catching up to do.

Yeah, aesthetically, it is a warm, attractive and professional looking space. Of course, what matters most is the product coming out of that space. But having a professional look, is certainly a plus, for getting business through the door in the first place.

Is it a little cramped?

Yeah, it's a medium sized room, that has the soundproofing. But it looks a little smaller in the pics, than it really is. The front of the engineering desk in the pics, looks like it goes right up to the wall, but there is probably enough space for a drum kit there. Maybe not one on racks, but a normal sized kit.

My mom designed the room, and consulted alot of books and friends on it. It is designed to spec. The foam surrounds the entire studio. almost every inch. The wood paneling you see is designed to give a slight bounce to the vocals, a natural effect, but because all the other walls are completely foam covered, it will not bounce around the room. Just a small bounce off the back wall for some natural acoustics. The ceilings have acoustic absorbing tiles. So the straight corners have no adverse effect because the walls are ALL FOAM. Not some tiles placed in key positions. It is a very quiet room. Perfect for vocals.

It actually is incredibly quiet. Inaudible unless you put your ear right up to the tower. I suppose it's not a problem, or she would have done it differently.

Thanks for the heads up. These are some kind of pretty expensive lights. Cause she has already warned me not to leave them on when no one is working in there. I don't know if she chooses these lights for the aesthetics or for the reason you mentioned though.
