For many weeks now I've read a lot of course. I've seen people disagree on some things, counter, come back, go again and come back again armed with virtual swords.

For me faith is a private thing. I've no need to tell you what that is or why. This is my decision and I feel comfortable with it, I'm a private person in a non private world where all want to seek you out, find you out. STAMP A STAMP on your head and put you away.

Why does everyone think they have the final answer to an equation, a summary of world events they non nought of and as a consequence of written ignorance quote something they have never heard, never seen, never will see.

I have my faith. It's really strong. It's had to be frankly because I have the balls even now in our day and age with no jobs and the vast insecurity to say NO! When offered something that I do not see a good thing.

Never mind to each his own, a path distinct and his own.

Pity really. I think just one NOTE sung by everyone on this planet could change things.

Perhaps because they're lonely; they feel isolated and alone and they need something to believe in, to be a part of, and so they join a "faith" because it fills a whole.

Perhaps the fear death, so they convince themselves they "know" what has happened, and what is going to happen, and that puts their mind at ease.

Perhaps it is because we are conditioned from birth that the answer "I don't know" isn't good enough, even though it might be the truth.

Actually, I quite agree. I don't need to see the advertising with the bumper sticker & Jesus fish to know just how proud some ppl are of being involved with one faith or another, or whatever sect therein.

I enjoy the light of Christ, I want my fellow man to enjoy it as well.

Some folk want to live and do well for themselves and their brothers.
Some folk just want to live like cockroaches.

Faith begins where science ends. Is there a purpose for your life? Science may never hold the answer to that question. Therefore you have to have faith for an answer. What happens to you after you die? Do you have a soul that carries on? Again, science may never have an answer. You have to have faith to believe in your soul and what happens to it after life. Is Christ the actual son of God? Science doesn't hold the answer. It's faith that does hold it. Did life begin by chance or did a supreme being start it? Again it's faith that will guide you. Can you have a personal relationship with God? If you have faith then yes. If you're waiting for an answer from science, you may have to wait a while. Some people GET faith. It actually guides them in life. It's almost a scientific fact that GETTING faith will improve your life. The vast majority of people who GET it will tell you their lives are vastly improved. I'm NOT saying that having no faith will make you a bad person. I am saying that those that seek it and GET it will most likely feel their lives are improved beyond what science can measure.

Some people just need faith. Me ... I don't subscribe to it at all.

I played with a drummer friend last week who had a massive heart attack in the middle of a song (LA Woman) 2 months ago, the guitar player was a EMS guy and worked on him for 20 minutes, they had defib equip. there, he was not going to let him die. But technically he was dead, no pluse for 20 minutes. He had a tripple bypass and is on the road to full recovery.

So I asked him "Did you see the white light or talk to God or see the pearly gates". He laughed and said "No ... I was just dead"

We had a great couple of sets and he was his old solid self back up on his throne giving us solid beats to play to ... it was great.

Is there a purpose for your life? Maybe ... but I think it's what you make of your life .. and if faith helps you get there ... then go for it.

To me when I die ... I'm dead, period ... I live for this life not the next. I'm a morel person and treat ppl with repect and try to be mumble about what I do and my accomplishments. I work hard and play hard (have fun), that is my religion ... I guess .. to keep all thing in moderation (balance) and not take life to seriously.

Where do you think this "drive" (for lack of better terminology) you have to be a "moral" person originated, as a part of your psychological make-up?

I'm moral.
Like I've stated many times I've passed off jobs and left them because of immoral stuff.

Why do Christians think they have a monopoly on morality? Morality is highly subjective yet a common trait for all humans, not just Bible thumpers. Some people have highly-evolved morals and others have supressed theirs, but I would argue it's an inborn trait like language.

I just asked a simple question of the man.

And if I was a moral man, I would not need Jesus.

I would say my morality comes from my upbringing (mom & dad) and they were not Christians. They was no religion in our family (3 kids) when I was growing up and there was no religion in bringing up our own kids (3 daughters). We all turned out just fine. We have 2 daughters that are RCMP and the 3rd is a stay at home (married) mom with 2 kids and all is good.

We were taught the value of work, an education, the value of a dollar and brought up in fairly strict home. If you screw up there were consequences.

I was probably the black sheep of the family because of the strict home when I move out of the house, I worked hard and partied harder, was on the road touring from 18 until I was around 28. Even with that life style I never became a drunk or a druggie because I was taught by M&D to have value of one's self to keep things in moderation to be humble.

I don't see where morality and religion are related .. it sure wasn't for our families.

Morals definitely come from the parents, but some people are just plain bad and a 50 foot Jesus couldn't save them. My parents were non-religious and the five of us kids turned out just fine; we work, pay taxes and are normal, average citizens with spouses and children who make us proud. If I'm going to praise someone for my morals it will be my parents.
