Im with Craig on this be cool to your soundman. Its like raising hell about food before youve eaten it, I always wait til Im done then say something.

George you guys have done some outside events before so just leave your amp settings the same as you always do. Im sure it will go great and you will probably like it because you can focus totally on playing guitar.

Like I said loosen up and go with it, have fun and make a joyful noise to God and you will be fine.

If you are playing outside this weekend remeber to take some tarps in case it rains. It is supposed to rain all weekend here in H-town. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

We are expecting from two to four inches of rain Saturday.
We have a large covered ampitheater to play in but if it pours we are screwed. I have some very large contractor bags I keep in my setup.
They will cover anything we have without much difficulty if push comes to swim. Thanks for the reminder J. I'll double check to see I still have enough to get er done.
As far as the soundman / attitude goes, the young men with which I play are all very respectfull. I foresee no problem with attitudes.
I had planned to have my wife and sons set up for audio and video.
But with the threatening weather I am going to risk as little of my hard earned equipment as possible.
We are supposed to play only two 30 min sets seperated by other acts.
We have mostly our heaveyest music planned for this event.
Thanks you all for the advice and well wishes.
I'll let you know how it goes.

do what you do, don't listen to the outside voice.

Well it is raining. ( I love rainy days :D )

We will pack up and show up.
Perhaps the weather will cooperate and we wont just be playing for wet crickets.

Wet was the word. It was raining pretty good when Steve Tony and I headed out to set up. When we got to the park it was just drizzling some but the Ampehteater was dry. In more ways than one :( .
Seems the good folks of the City of Kilgore neglected to turn the power on so it put everything about an hour behind. they never did get the power on to the coverd pavillion where the good folks were cooking and providing free foods and drinks, yet they were troopers and scrounged some battery lamps. These ladies and gents were so warm and friendly.
I dont get hugged that much at my family reunions.
There were 8 acts / bands involved, mostly Hip Hop.
But I tell ya true, some of them sang and rapped or rapped so clear and with a much more complex moving beat than the usuall THUMP THUMP BUZZ (hear the rust falling off of the inside of the trunk of the car)
And I really enjoyed it. :D
Two (white) Rock bands.
Modern Miracle a group of young high energy modern metalist.
They had some songs I enjoyed, and some, well lets just say if they'd focused more on instrumentation than acrobatics it may have been ok.
I wont fault them totally for what was a too busy / muddled sound to my ear, but they put on a hell of a show jumping around and the younger folk really seemed to enjoy it.
I feed the DJ our monitor mix so I had control over our sound. And I had many complements "you guys are just awsome"
"your vocals are so clear" etc. Numerous people said we had the best mix. :D
Despite the on and off drizzle we had a pretty good crowd. And this is going to sound racest but Black folks know how to party and interact / support a band, it was GREAT.
So much screaming yelling clapping and dancing I was like  WOW !!
No Audio or Vid due to weather considerations, but I will try to post a picture. (ya'll all know how well that goes for me. )

Sorry for the novel, guess I am still a little high from it all. 8)

Yea Paul, I think you would have enjoyed this one.
One comment that really stuck in my head was:
The Church With No Walls.
No race wall, no denomination wall, no musical genre' wall ( except all were "Christain" acts )
It was really a lot of fun, and being the "First Annual" event, I intend to work to make next year bigger, I doubt it could get any better.
