This is my audition for the spot of Lead Vocalist for the popular deathcore band "As Blood Runs Black".

ABRB released a special instrumental track for the public auditions

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUYqtYfGHxw

Mp3 Download: http://tinyurl.com/ns6d7a

These are my original lyrics...The song is entitled "Death to the Executioner". I had to change them a bit to make them fit the song, but it still works...

LYRICS:

Pity that lingers in the shadows
Awaits your return
As the Dawn arises
So we get closer to your demise

Cut with your own words
You sh*t out of your mouth with a wave and a nod
Like a snake you trick your prey with a rattle
And subdue them from behind
Where are you from

Four years is the end of your rein
I pray mercy for the weak, the tot

Mercy for the Weak
Death to the Executioner

May your hands be forever stained
With the blood of the feeble
Who you have gutted
Hiding behind failed science
Claiming to be the savior of the world

Mercy for the Weak
Death to the Executioner

As the Dawn Arises
So we get closer to your demise

Wish me luck

You don't need any luck, you're friggin amazing. If this band doesn't pick you somebody else will, and soon.

And even if I don't get it, this was still good practice for making original songs

Not bad, but just a word: 'dawn arise' is not the right phrase. Usually the 'dawn breaks' and the 'sun rises'. Arise is more of a command than a verb. It's the little things that can trip you. Best of luck.

is that normal for a band to release an instrumental demo and people "audition" by laying a vocal track on it???

I'd personally rather see a myspace page with live audio/video footage than hear a studio demo any day of the week!

Anyone with $$ can make, or have someone make for them, and amazing studio demo, and still SUCK. Live footage? Tells me everything I will ever need to know :)

I just thought that type of audition process was self-defeating, as it doesn't really solve the problem it is designed to address.

Good lyrical content Ryan.

You know I am not a fan of the modern metal vocal styles.

That being said, I gotta agree with Bob.
I can actually understand most of what your saying, that in itself is "friggin amazing" considering I am not accustomed to the style.

God speed my friend.

wow, backing track is well produced...

lyrics: I'm not crazy about them. they seem trite.
for instance this is a terrible analogy:
'like a snake you trick you prey with a rattle'
snakes ward off folks with their rattle... they don't trick them with it.
gives the impression you didn't put a lot of time into it IMO.

not my type of genre, but I think the vocal fits well enough, and I guess folks don't exactly expect to hear shakespear when they listen to death metal so...
I'm sure you'll knock 'em dead.

lstly, IMHO, you should have worked in some 'non screaming' vocal I've heard you do on other recordings. IMHO that's where you r really strong.

good luck! we'll keep our fingers crossed!

If they watch that your sure to get a call. But I'm with Kramer on this one as the method seems suspect. How did you learn of the audition ?

Another day in Paradise !!!

c'mon... r u telling me you didn't realize a rattlesnake is trying to ward you off with that rattle?

maybe I'm being too picky on that one...

I am sort of a 'poetry snob' -it's those 50+ credits of upper level English at work (sure hasn't helped my spelling tho)!

you can learn a lot about someone by watching how they respond to critics.
being able to gracefully take criticism is the mark of a pro...
just sayin'...
not everyone is into screamo...
not everyone who is into it is gonna like you...

be the bigger person and 'kill em with kindness'.
