yes, u r right and yes: was answered b4 but no worries.

These are less like riddles and more like math but I find them fun...

If you can have 4 samiches: any combo of arbys roast beef and arbys cheddermelts... how many combos are possible? (we'll include the empty set here)

How bout: if you have 2 pink guitar picks, 6 red guitar picks, and an unlimited supply of white guitar picks... how many 3 guitar pick combos can you make?

-no trick answers like "I don't use a pick".

hmmm...

at arbies: 5 different combo's

and the picks: 9 combo's, but you didn't mention whether duplicate combos were allowed or not...cuz with an unlimited supply of white picks...well...um ∞

and another question: is pink, red, white the same as red, white, pink? cuz if it 'aint then i'm way off

anyway, i suck at math

-your so close (forgot empty set) what are the combos?

-order never matters in combinations so pink red white IS sm as white red pink. -it only counts once.
HINT: you only have two pink balloons... this is key.
HINT2: choice1 x choice2 x choice3

I would beg to differ.

ah yes...empty set (i'm on a diet) would make it 6 arby combo's...

and now i see what i did wrong with the picks (again, i think): answer to this one is 5...no empty set

-nice work u r right!

-nope. I may have thrown you off with the choice x choice x choice cause that is not correct for combos(I should have solved the prob b4 asking it! sorry) you were actually closer b4. it's a tricky question, and would require some basic knowlege of combinatorics... or a lot of 'brute force'.
how many choices for the first balloon? 3
how many choices for the second? 3
how many choices for the third? 2(as there are only 2 pink balloons)
=18 (only right if order doesn't matter ie ppw != pwp or wpp.)
actual function to solve this would be n squared... or 3 squared = 9
ah the brute force method... (p, r, w)
ppp, ppr ,ppw : prp ,prr , prw: pwp, pwr, pww = 5 (ppp isn't possible & ppr=prp, ppw=pwp, prw=pwr)
rpp, rpr, rpw: rrp, rrr, rrw: rwp, rwr, rww = 6 (rpr=rrp, rpw=rwp, rrw=rwr)
wpp, wpr, wpw : wrp, wrr, wrw :wwp, wwr, www = 6(wpr=wrp, wpw=wwp, wrw=wwr)

ppr ,ppw : prr , prw: pww = 5
rpp, rpr, rpw: rrr, rrw: rww = 6
wpp, wpr, wpw : wrr, wrw : www =6 ...

ppr=rpp, ppw=wpp, prr=rpr,prw=rpw&wpr, pww=wpw,rrw=wrr,rww=wrw
so 9 -w/o empty set
I may have made errors here since I cranked this out so fast... but I'm pretty sure it's right. please correct me if I'm wrong!

Ugh I got a headache just looking at that. Math is the devil.

Take out the 'n' and the first half of the word is FUCT!

alas, so my first answer of 9 was correct!

when i reworked it, i was making combinations of picks as you had them...that is, once you used a pink pick in a combo, you could no longer use it in another combo, which would give you a possible total of 5 combos after all ur picks were used up (save the white ones).

ok then, go on, hit us again...

you guys are just too gaddang good at these... I expected to have you on the fence for at least a week so...
gonna have to dig up my intro disc math book LOL.
OK here is an easy one I can remember right now...
if you have five two way switches in a row on a wall... how many possible combinations of off and on switches are there?
