Oh yeah I know Goingly. I have Cubase too but Windows just hogs the system. I have an old version of Cakewalk too.
Linux just works without hogging things. The real problem is "Jack Audio" Or maybe I didn't set it up right? (Perhaps). Actually my cousin is a Linux dev so perhaps I'll ask him too.
I've always built and maintained stuff myself, it's difficult for me to change that part of me know really.
Ah yes the sends.... LOL!
I'm still learning that part, hence nothing I have is mastered at all. Windows and my cubase tend to fall out. I have to close the system often, Defrag, delete, you name it. I don't have to do anything like that on Linux except dump the trash every now and again.
It's pretty powerful too. 2 Gigs Ram 80 Gig HD Serial ATA.
Also of course it could just be that your right and its too old for the job now. At the moment I am rewiring a headset to use as an acoustic mic for my guitar. hahahaha
Things change. I'm pretty optimistic that jobs will start coming my way again and then I'll go build a monster. Thanks by the way.
Keep well Goingly.
Chippy.
GONGHEAD wrote:CHIPPY , its time to upgrade, PC OR MAC, Cubase and Logic have gotten so much better its ridiculous. Get a new Mac book with Logic. $1000.
11 years ago I was working with 6 gig hard drives. I just deleted 15 gigs of trash.
I like Cubase because of the way they set up their sends and non destructive editing.
Recording is so much easier today. I did "spring breeze" as a rough track in about an hour.
Do yourself a favor and look into it because I have heard your creativity and that is excellent, but it can be very frustrating using difficult tools to make your musical point through recordings.
You brought it up,,, Now give me some good news.
If you do upgrade I can help you quite a bit. Talk to ya lata,EHRME.
