Hey, I met up with Billy ( Paleopete ) the other night as he was passing through my area. He, my wife and I had dinner together, talked for over an hour I think. Funny guy man, he cracks me up.
He played a little on his acoustic for us, out in the parking lot of the resturaunt we met at no less  , yea, talented dude.
Every bit as much into music as he would seem here.
Any of you have a chance to meet Billy and hear him play, dont miss it!
Be safe on your road trip Billy !!

Bill impressed me with his acoustic finger picking when he came thru my area. I can only hope that he can get into some sort of musical situation that will allow others to hear his talent. He is awesome in person and he is an awesome musician. So far as far as long distance friends from here Ive met Paul and Bill, and they are both as genuine in real life as they are in their post here.

Pauls deal really has me intrigued with my newest deal. I may have to get me another looper.

Mary, All I would add is if you get the chance to meet someone from here passing thru, then do whatever it takes to meet them. I think you will be glad you did. I love to be able to read someones post and kinda remember their mannerizms and the tone of their voice. Im a sponge and try to soak up all the nuances of any other musicians I meet.

So true John. It adds a whole new demension to your interaction when you can look a man (or lady for the PC amoungst us) in the eye and shake their hand.

The reason I posted this was to encourge this type of interaction.
Beleive me, it's not easy for an sociopath like myself to get out to meet and greet.

Mary:
Have a great time in Costa Mesa, and let not your heart be discouraged, perhaps some day we will meet. Life is so full of possability.

Steak Cap'n, I had steak.

First time I've been online since that night, so I've been completely out of touch. My mother has dial up and it's sloooooowwwww dial up, so I usually don't bother. 10 minutes to download an average 1024x768 picture...

Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed meeting George and his wife, he played my Cort for a few minutes and he's not shabby either, just needs a little polish. Both are very nice people, I enjoyed the meeting and dinner although I did talk too much. One of my worst habits.

I'll be making some more trips to East Tx before long, and will definitely try and make plans to get together again.

Been trying to get in good enough financial shape to go back to Memphis and see JW 123 again for ages it seems, he's a great guy too, but so far the economy has not been nice to me. Excellent guitar player too, I would absolutely love to get him onstage with me at an open mic or something of that nature.

Any of the rest of you, I agree with what JW said, if you have a chance to meet someone you know online, make every effort to do so. When I went to Baltimore last winter I met JW123, The Kidd and a friend from a computer tech support forum, and tried to meet philby twice, but he ran into complications both times and sadly it didn't happen. Also met Shredd when I went to Las Vegas and that was a really cool day, great guy as well. I really enjoyed all the meetings, wouldn't trade those experiences for anything. Don't pass up a chance, make every effort to meet people, especially musicians you know on here. And if you get a chance to make it anywhere near north Louisiana, get in touch, I won't pass up a chance to meet more BMix folks.

This thread makes me want to tell ya'll about GeezerFest.

There are a group of online friends, myself included, who four years ago decided we wanted to meet, put names with faces and play together. So I took the reigns, organized the participants, got us all a stage to play on with my band as the host band, got a local hotel to give everyone a reduced room rate and planned a BBQ party to get everyone acquainted. It was an incredible weekend. We had players from all over the western states and as far away as Minnesota and North Carolina.

It was such a great time that we have done it every year since, the first three years here in San Diego, and this year we all converged on Tulsa, Ok. We have friends now from Utah, Idaho, Nevada, California, North Carolina, Oklahoma and more who make the trip every year and more people from Michigan, Wisconsin Florida and Tennessee who are planning to come next year.

There are not only some great players on these forums, but great people, too, and if you can get the chance I highly recommend getting together and making some new friends. I guarantee a good time.

I am the same way. I am sure that I would know who many of you are just by talking to you. Plus I would definitely make it a point to meet any of you.

Thanks. It's been great fun. This year in Tulsa and next year probably in Ohio have been passed on to others, but maybe someday it'll be back here.
