You realize that alcohol kills over 250,000 people every year just from drinking it, that is not including all the ones who die from doing stupid things while under the influence, like driving, etc.

Marijuana kills 0 people every year just from smoking it, that too is not including all the idiots who are irresponsible.

I'll just keep getting high on life...well...& pot...& a Valium once in awhile...& coke once or twice a year...& the occasional Xanax...& some 'shrooms a cpl times yearly...& someday I"m gonna try that heroin stuff just to see what all the buzz is about...& 1 or 2 6-packs of good beer a week, spread out over two or three days...& a little blotter every 5 or 10 years...if I get back into better shape I'm gonna try that ayahuasca stuff...I'm gonna order a few bottles of absynth, too, cuz I hear it makes the heart grow fonder...does it sound like I have a problem?

No doubt, there is that 9% of people who use pot who become psychologically dependent upon it. I don't doubt i would go through some kind of withdrawal if I skipped a night of smoking, but its not as addictive as alcohol (40% addiction rate) cigarettes (80% addiction rate) and prescription drugs like Oxycontin (97% addiction rate), and of the 4 items mentioned, marijuana is the safest. I say responsible use by responsible adults is no ones business but the person taking it. I still think if you commit a crime to pay for it, you should pay the piper. excuse the pun.

As far as eating marijuana, you could not eat enough to overdose, you would simply wind up either VERY constipated or VERY liquid for a few days, but you'd get too high and pass out several pounds before a lethal dose could ever be ingested, or at least they haven't yet found a lethal dose, however, if you drank 2 gallons of water too quickly you would be DEAD.

Mushrooms are another one (speaking only of psylicibin mushrooms), you would have to eat you weight in them to overdose, you'd have a huge trip if you ate too many, and may suffer from dillusions after, but you'd survive unless you ate your weight in them which is impossible. Amanita Muscaria mushrooms are a different story, too much of them are fatal.

There is not a recorded death in history caused directly by ingestion of marijuana in any way...and the only known allergy to the stuff is no more than any other floral allergy on the planet.

Pot is not necessary and most users are habitual. It takes away motivation and makes users take risks. How about driving down the highway and HAVING to take enough to carry you through your road trip. Say the trip is one week. Say you smoke a half OZ a week. Say you don't have cruise control. It's hard to maintain a speed close to the speed limit when you are high. Then every time you see a cop. That jolt of fear when you see him, know you are speeding, and know you have a half oz stuffed in your car somewhere.

Your addiction to pot makes you do stupid, self destructive things. It is bad. It is stupid, senseless, worthless.

Users let pot rule their lives. They lie to themselves and others. They hurt their family and friends. They become selfish.

People get into it and dont live to the level they could have without and I dont give a sh*t about your surveys. Look at the people who smoke on a regular basis, very few I know live up to their potential, their to worried about getting hi. I know that this puts me at odds with a lot of folks here, but believe me Ive been there done that and pot does a lot of damage along with leading lots of folks to toher heavier drugs. And Im not talking about the typical stereotype drug user, Im talking about the guy that lives next to you that spends money on this when he could be getting his kids a higher education. Or the corporate guy that half way up the career ladder gets busted adn black labed for the rest of his life. I dont understand how this means that much to anyone. If you want to get high run, I used to do that and it felt way better than any pot I ever smoked. People get rid of these f**k crutches that you use.

Im sorry but you will probably never make it legal, cause your politicians are not going to listen to a bunch of self proclaimed pot heads. I was asked to perform at a local deal supporting this and the more I thought about it, the last thing I would want to be associated with is one of these deals. All you musicians, it may be cool on the surface but it could hurt your carreer to get involved with these deals. Getting on board with these type shows could label you for the rest of your career. Think about it before you do this.

Sorry I jumped on this thread, but I just feel there is a hell of a lot bigger issues going on in our world than this. But I guess thats OK, your wondering where your going to get your next buzz, instead of whether our country is broke or not and can take care of our children and grandchildren down the road. I guess its all in your prioritys!

We are aware our country is broke. Yet, people still find the money to buy their beer, drugs, cigarettes, etc...imagine if we taxed the stuff people are using, the country wouldn't be broke...According to the government, the terrorists would be broke if we legalized drugs and collected all those billions that currently go to the black market.

If you don't like pot, dont use it, but dont tell me (25 years of responsible use) that it will screw up my life, I have never used harder drugs because of pot, I dont drink or smoke cigarettes...I do own and operate 2 successful businesses, have a family, own a house, and I smoke pot to relax and to have communion with others and religious practices...

Some people are not as responsible as I am, or tommy chong, or cheech marin, or bill maher, or countless others you don't hear about on the 6 o'clock news. Wake up America, all the drug war does is help bankrupt this country while the terrorists get rich.

silly pot heads. pot kills zero people? um, no. Studies have shown that smoking pot causes the sm tar associated with smoking cigs, in fact ten times as much.
I know what you'll say: but you only smoke one joint and and not a pack of them a day.
Fact is, that if you smoke one j it's the equiv of ten cigaretts... (half a pack), and I'd bet you smoke five or six a day there 'santiman'.
It does terrible damage to your stomach too. It does damage to your heart as well (causes valves to open up larger and causes the heart to have to pump less hard - which over time weakens the heart.

It would be tuff to demonstrate how many people get lung cancer and die from it on account of it's illegal nature, but I promise it's at least in the neighborhood of cigarettes. not to mention the number of folks who die every year in freak bong related accidents (jk on that one).

I will say that the war on drugs is just as silly. If you can legalize viagra how the hell can you keep pot illegal? Throwing these folks in jail is about the dumbest thing ever. The users are far more widespread than one would think, and they are not the criminals I feel need to be locked up.
The dealers: well that may or may not be another story... but if that's the only argument... then we should legalize and eliminate them. Put it back in that hands of the 'responsible' drug manufacturers that are prescribing adderol/meth to the kids left and right for ADD. I'm laughing and crying over here. I would love to see it legalized: cause then I'll laugh at all you 'normal' folks while you are taking a breathilizer test and paying $2000 and 30 days in the slammer for dui. After all we don't allow folks to drive while on kodien or oxycotton so..
