Gotta give Crip credit,If he can play an acoustic with say a 13 gauge E and then switch to say an 11 tuned down,on E , I can't do it.
I remember as a kid playing around with 8 gauge strings. all they did was break after an hours playing. And the "BOUNCE" left you wondering where to place the pick. Chords, forget ,chords, reduced tension made all chords sound muddy.

I hear what you're saying.... but, on my acoustic I do just finger excersises, scales, arpeggios, etc... No serious bending and stretching notes! The fact that I play every single day on both acoustic and electric for hours is the reason why I need a "softer" electric! My skin seperates from my nail with higher guage and harder tension. A ton of the songs we do require bending those notes almost 5 times the note and holding it... Try doing that for hours with 11's and the way the factory set's up their Les Pauls... Whenever I have a weekend where I rehearse on a Friday, and play on a Sat. and Sun. my pinky and ring finger on my left hand rip apart from the nail from frequent and constant bending... so I know I wouldn't last with high tension or highewr guage strings.... takes about 2 days to heal... I actually use crazy glue! BTW, I use 9's on the Pauls...

GEEZE, Sounds to me like you're getting beer finger[s] and you don't drink.
I doubt many people are gonna see this but I use a custom configuration of 10 and 38 on the bottom to try to get a balanced chord sound,
Keeping the strings from ripping your fingers is a whole different story. This may sound sick, but I think strings don't last that long.
First hour,,, breakin period.
2nd through3rd hour ,concert condition, recording, etc
5th hour through 20 good practice strings.
after that they gonna break and rip up your fingers and not stay in tune ,no matter how hard you tryed to keep them clean.
When I was doing to bars in two nights..... that was two sets of strings :)

OH you in particular have to be carefull of the chems you touch at work. I get splits in in my fingerprints if I don't use a ton of care to keep them out of fuel oil, this also applies to nails etc and it can be very bad. In the OLD days we didn't have gloves and oil and soot make ink.
Speaking of wich I wish Rythm man would change his picture , it really makes it hard for me to want to play any bass. :)

Well... I gone and one totally screwed up the settings on it! ... When I leave the action and tension the way they set it up, It hurts like hell to play.... My other Pauls play beautifully and to my liking! When I lower the action and bring the tailpiece up, I get a nasty buzz and the sustain sux.... I've tried for weeks to get this fukker to my liking to no avail! I called the techs.... I'm bringing her in... they told me that when I changed to 9's, there is a whole lotta changes to be made to get it to where I want!

DUH!! That's why I wanted the techs to set it up in the first place instead of the freakin' salesman! I told them my 30 day's aren't up and I'll return this baby in a second if they don't rectify the situation! They told me to bring it in tomorrow and they'll start from scratch.... I'm bringing in one of my other LP's to show them exactly how I want it done!

Yeah....I check back here very rarely as I've got a lot on my plate lately... Thanx for asking, Glen... My band MUGSY is working their asses off learning new songs every week and rehearsing.....these guys will not play out until we have 3 freakin' sets and will only do solo shows. They've got serious connections here on the East Coast and already have agents, sound and lightmen, etc... The songs are super crazy and my guitars have to be de-tuned almost every other song... we're sounding tight though and that first show is gonna be a big one... gonn hafta shell out cash for: demo's, pro pics, more equipment, and other crap...I'm gonna be broke!

I am playing a cool gig with my other band Terror Garden on Halloween at DJ Riders in Oceanside.... gonna be a blast and going into the studio with them this Friday to brush up on the set list!
Here's our ad:

Gettin' super psyched for our Halloween gig.... One rehearsal..that's it... the chick drummmer is awesome (stays right in the pocket on every freakin' tune) and the new bassist is just incredible... The singer and I usually play out with different people about 3-4 times a year in the band "Terror Garden"

Nice rippin' for a wasted guy, Crip.

Looks like a fun act.

Doncha just hate it when ppl start walking through the band on the stage?

This one had Jace screaming LOUD!!!! Thanks for that!

He likes this one a bunch...wants to hear it over & over...I think he likes the scream at the end the best...it sure prompts him to join in!

Hell no.... Here's a clip of the end of the evening where a buncha chicks just made their way up on stage and started dancin'.... you might be able to tell that the bassist was really freakin' schloshed toward the end of the song... he hit the wrong note at about 2:19
