Threads like this are why man made Zoloft...I can't take it anymore...I'm so depressed...why can't we all just get along?

The bitch of it all is that I CAN'T take Zoloft - it depresses me!

Guess I'm off to find some good street stuff...maybe a Valium would take the edge off...or a Xanax...where's ol' Doc Kevorkian when you need him?

Oh yeah - he's dead!

DIBBITZ!

This is sure a gr8 way to start our collective day, ain't it?

I am a brand new member and have only a couple of posts to my credit and have only browsed a couple of threads. What I'm going to say is not a put down to anyone and I'm not taking any side of this discussion.
I gotta tell you though, I am disappointed to see this kind of stuff on the boards on a music site where I paid for a premium membership.
I know the argument that this is a general thread but to the moderators now.... do you really want to have a turn-off like this front and center or do you want to sell premium memberships because I personally came here because it's a music site?
I would think that that is your bottom line.

lol I see a new issue developing here...

Recondo, eco-guerrilla, facist, pretentious, facetious, reporting of the majority on the minority in a semi-translucent representation of the fictional light source that not everyone can see all at one time which may or not be the central spark of creativity at the nexus of your universe.

In short, you expect more than you deserve and we at the Central Scrutinizer appreciate your efforts to keep the masses oppressed and unconscious.

You don't see us here at Joe's Garage, but rest assured that we have you dialed in from long range and the merest little offense will be construed as an act of war, thus ensuring the use of a nuclear response on your 3rd world ass.

Have a nice day and always report any acts of digression from the norm, as anything that benefits the government is always good for the masses.

And next we have the weather...

Wraun,

This gets old. How are you inconvenienced because people that become FRIENDS here have dicussions about other things on occassion? We talk about music ALL THE TIME, and SHARE OUR MUSIC ALL THE TIME, and give one another musical advice ALL THE TIME. There are not too many threads to get through here, and you can always choose NOT to view the ones you are not interested in. It's like the argument about what is on cable or not. If you are offended by one particular channel (thread) simply choose the others to read. Better yet, start some threads of your own.

Many of the people here have become friendly enough that they have visted one another on numerous occassions. Traveling hundreds of miles to do so sometimes. That makes for a strong community, not a weak one. When a thread brings up another topic, and it is discussed, the idea that everyone should go to political forums then to dicuss those, and movie forums to discuss a movie we just saw, or health care forums to discuss that, is kind of ridiculous.

EXAMPLE:

"How may of you guys saw the movie Spinal Tap?"

"I love that movie"

"I saw it a long time ago. Remember how their drummers always die mysteriously? That's some funny sh*t!"

"Yeah, imagine the insurance rates that band's label would be paying if that happened in real life."

"Well, that's what bothers me about the Health Care system here..."

"We have the best health care in the world"

"Not if you don't have health care it isn't"

"I agree with that dude, cause I recently went to the doctor and found out I have diabetes, and I am worried like hell"

"Look bro, I am a registered nurse, and I am telling you, change your eating habits NOW, not later... I have watched a lot of people with this..."

"You guys are right. I'm gonna take this seriously. I appreciate all the advice!"

Some of this is based in reality, on discussions we have already had here. One guy got some GOOD ADVICE from a registered nurse, and lots of advice from others as well.

I suppose he should have been told:

"Well, man, go and sign up on a health care forum, cause I have some really important advice that may save your life once you do!"

Discussions go in different directions. This forum is not too large to not be able to keep up. And there is PLENTY of space to start your own threads, and not lose sleep, that 15% or 20% of the threads are NOT musical. And contrary to your opinion, sometimes these are what keeps the forums busy here. Cause I have seen them when these discussions are not going oon, and sometimes you will find them dead as hell.

This is NOT a music forum.

It is a MUSICIAN'S forum.

Musicians have ALOT on their minds. Even some things not directly music related.

Additionally, if WE DID post a comment like: "Hey guys, I found out some news not being reported yet, concerning the governmen't plans on swine flu vaccines... can you guys go over to the health care forums, cause you will want to see what they are about to do!"

Wouldn't even posting about going somehwere else, be technically off-topic in your view? Why not just say what you want to say, without the thought police trying to stop you?

I also wonder how many forums some of these detractors have participated in? This place is MILD and FRIENDLY almost all the time. That is unusual my friend. Other forums have brats running their mouths in the most offensive of ways just to get a rise out of everyone. This has rarely been a problem here.

You have a bunch of seasoned players and decent human beings here, and that is one of it's best draws, and why many people have participated for YEARS here.

It's a real community.

Real communities sometimes wander into other discussions.

I checked myself, and MORE THAN 80% of the threads here are music related.

Really, what's the problem?

ILLEGALS:

While it is true that some of them DO pay taxes through false SS#'s it is also true that they are a drain in other ways, and a potential security threat now too.

The guys here losing jobs to them are right.

And one thing which hasn't been mentioned is, not only the salaries, but these businesses end up NOT paying WORKMAN'S COMP for them. So this not only costs jobs to American workers, who expect they will be protected by workman's comp in the case of injury. But when a roofer is seriously injured from an on-site accident, what happens? If anything, that worker gets dropped off to the emergency room, where they are treated, at TAXPAYER EXPENSE.

So these businesses, are passing their responsiblity (workman's comp) off to the American taxpayer. All so they can make a little more profit, but which in effect is taken right back out of OUR pockets.

Another dream, Craig? Or are you privy to something the rest of us aren't?

CraigMaxim wrote:.Some of the reasons:

1) The current administration's pursuit of investigations for the purpose of prosecution, is demoralizing the CIA. There are reports that MANY experienced agents are looking for other work. Who can blame them? The activities they are engaged in, spying, interrogation of high level detainees, and so forth, are all clandestine activities. They now fear that following an administration's policies could result in prosecution of them, and clearly, primarily for political points of a new administration. This is UNPRECEDENTED! I have said before, that I don't think Obama is necessarily a bad person, just a naive one. After PROMISING CIA agents that his administration would not go after agents, who were pursuing activities, PREVIOUSLY SANCTIONED by the Justic Department, and at the behest of a previous administration, it has only taken a little pressure from the far left, for Obama to REVERSE COURSE and BREAK THIS PROMISE.

The CIA is demoralized! What does this mean? It means instead of AGRESSIVELY pursuing leads on terrorist plots, and using the means necessary to uncover information about them, they will NOW BACK OFF much more, for fear of politically based LEGAL REPRISALS. These men and women are SERVING THEIR COUNTRY and they DID NOT sign up for going to prison, for helping keep this country safe! They will now, be much less of a force for uncovering plots to attack our citizens. You can be sure, this means MANY will now slip through the cracks, which will DIRECTLY AFFECT YOUR FAMILY'S SAFETY in the very near future. I hope you, or your family doesn't live in a major city..

Now, see, you're drawing conclusions without base, here. You're assuming that the present & future employees of the CIA will not be doing their jobs for fear of prosecution...the thing is...they will only be prosecuted for crimes against humanity & our own country. Are you then claiming that the job of a CIA operative is to commit atrocities? Perhaps THAT's the problem, eh?

CraigMaxim wrote:.2) WIRETAPPING: This has ALWAYS been a Liberal issue. That wiretapping and software designed to pick up certain keywords, are an attack on our freedoms. These programs have been VERY SUCCESSFUL in uncovering maybe a dozen or more such plots by terrorists to make attacks on this country, and has resulted in their arrests, and in STOPPING the planned attacks. They will overturn some of these programs, and AGAIN... it will result in some, now slipping through the cracks, and being executed fully. Americans will be LESS SAFE, and not more safe!.

Wiretapping is against the Constitution of the USA. Always has been. Always should be, imho. 'Nuff sed.

Do you actually believe that these ppl plotting our downfall are so stupid that they talk about their bombs & their biological warfare tactics on the nearest pay phone? (Do those even exist anymore?) Wiretapping is wrong. It allows our fair gov't to access info about its ppl that it should not have, & would not need if it weren't in the wrong biz.

CraigMaxim wrote:.3) ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION: Democrats have been very vocal proponents, in recent times, of reducing our borders to being meaningless. Illegals have some kind of "RIGHT" to cross our borders and work in this country, and be entitled to driver's licenses and health care and all other taxpayer funded public services, whether they register or not, and whether they work or not. Illegals tend to vote for Democrats, perhaps this is part of the reason? Wait... Illegals can't vote! Sure they can, and do. Under aliases and false social security numbers, etc... Why should the politician care, if it gets him elected? But opening the borders more widely, or weakening their defenses, not pursuing technology that can help prevent many illegal border crossings, etc... THIS WILL RESULT in more terrorists and terroristic weapons, crossing the borders UNCHECKED! Just another hole in th dam, and this will be a BIG ONE!.

Um...are you forgetting how the Bushes, both JR & Sr, gave amnesty to illegals just to save on the thousands of hours of paperwork involved, to hear them talk about it? I think Reagan did something along those lines, too. Doesn't sound like a Dem mistake to me, but a republicrat one! Yes, I agree it's a problem. So do many others. Drop it already. You've typed PAGES & PAGES on the subject already, & I'm bored.

CraigMaxim wrote:.4) Socialists and Communists in Obama's cabinet and various csars. These people are SYMPATHETIC to Communism and Socialism. Some were actually PROPONENTS and MEMBERS of the Socialist Party, and of rogue groups that were in effect TERRORISTIC, being responsible for bombings and murders. When people sympathetic to Socialism and Communism are running things on the highest levels, then rest assured, rather than being VIGILANT on the plots and plans of Communists to weaken our power and society, they will instead be COOPERATING with their agendas, and GIVING AWAY THE FARM, if not our most important technologies like the Strategic Defense Initiative. When you don't see someone or something as a THREAT, what do you think happens? How many children go missing because they did not perceive their attackers as threats? This applies on a national and global scale as well. You can no more trust the word of a hard core Communist, than you can the word of a child molestor. You have to have diplomatic relations, but VIGILANCE is required. You will not see this kind of vigilance coming from an administration with Communists in it's own ranks! America is LESS SAFE as a result..

Um...Craig? Who was the 1st pres in your lifetime to declare a war on the American ppl? Who was the 1st to have a "czar" in his cabinet? What WAS his party, anyway?

Admit it, bud - you're simply anti-anything-Dem, but I'll let that one slide, for now. So now what are you, a McCarthyist? "STAMP OUT THE RED/PINKO SCARE!"

You can't trust a hard-core NUTHIN in this world, & if you haven't learned that, you're stuck in the world of black & white, no color, & not even a shade of gray.

The hard-core capitalist is someone who'll rip you off or stab you in the back for a buck, just as the hard-core commie will to even out the playing field. This is junk.

CraigMaxim wrote:.5) Putin has turned the Russian economy around. They are knee deep in oil revenues now, with NO NATIONAL DEBT. This is why you see their military programs ramping up again, just as if we were right back in the midst of the Cold War. Now that money is no object, they are back to challenging us at sea with their submarines, and shadowing our fleet, and posing a risk once again. Their pride knows no bounds right now, and Putin is a national hero. He would be President right now AGAIN, were it not for imposed term limits there. So now, he just runs things as Prime Minister with his PUPPET as Presidential head for publlic consumption. Putin still pulls the strings, and he is a self-absorbed eveil narcissist, who despises that we seemed to have won the Cold War. This is not Gorbachev, this is Stalin. But before their recent oil wealth, they were suffering economically, and you can take it to the bank, that nuclear materials and even weapons, were sold to the highest bidder. Now, an ego-driven madman from Russia, can simply assist from the shadows, the terrorists that want to nuke one of our cities. And it will be blamed on the terrorists without any fingerprints from Russia, particularly when our Intelligence Agencies have been neutered and demoralized, and are not able to do their jobs effectively..

I only hope they do it better as they rebuild their battered country - battered by the corruption that created their downfall, just as ours is hurting us.

I don't think our intelligence communities have suffered nearly as much as you'd have us believe, Craig. "Neutered" indeed! They were very recently powerful enough to fool those who should have been properly informed before jumping into a war that's a HUGE part of destroying the fabric of our economy. That's just more junk. More horror stories from the right.

Don't you ever read anything nice?

CraigMaxim wrote:.6) SOCIALISM: The current administration is putting us and our future generations in debt that is unprecedented. They are destroying the basis of our wealth and employment, the small business. Nationalized Banks. Nationalized Car Industry. Nationalized Health Care. And MUCH MORE is on the agenda! Not all people are self motivated, but MANY ARE, and these people are the entrepeneurs that DRIVE OUR ECONOMY and create MOST of our nation's jobs and job growth. This is being short-circuited as we speak. The consequences will not be fully obvious until 2010 and beyond, which is when most of these programs go into effect..

Unprecedented debt, Craig? Have you SLEPT through the last 8 years, man?

Your tales of upcoming woe have been wrought with caps & exclamation points & fear-mongering, at best, for well over a year. If it ain't the Moslems, it's the illegals. If it ain't the illegals, it's the socialists. If it ain't the socialists, it's the swine flu. And all of it can prolly be found to have a Dem party source. You should get a spot on radio to holler out your weird tales of prophesy, Craig.

Step off the soap box, Craig. I don't believe this crud you call "logical conclusions," based on far too few facts & figures, esp when you're so apt to ignore so many other facts & figures in your semi-religious zeal to get us all worked up over your fears.

It also does nothing but pitt ppl in here against each other, as our opinions are bound to differ greatly, since we're of such different age-groups, religious & economic backgrounds.

You come on here far too often with a whole laundry list of woes that we should all be very frightened of, & it invariably turns into name-calling & other such sh*t. Try something new - bring stuff to the table that can interest us without stirring the pot of angers we all have for awhile. We're ALL of us scared right now. Quit playing on it all.

Your sh*t ain't fun anymore. Yeah, you have a perfect American right to say whatever the hell comes into your head, but what GOOD does it bring to our forum? Think about that for a bit before you hit that send button. Give it a rest, already!

Phil,

For one thing, yes, I am privy to some information you aren't. And secondly, it is a logical conclusion that as the safeguards which have prevented a dozen or so other attacks are dismantled, it will open the door to further attacks.

I am not against Democracts. I am agaiinst the policies they cling to which are WRONG, and DANGEROUS. Like the current adniministration's drive toward Socialism. Happening as we speak. But Democrats have also championed things Repiublicans never would have, like Civil Rights, and Health Care Reform (although the current plan is not the way to go)

I take issue with the WRONG policies of the RIGHT as well. Such as violating the civil rights of homosexuals by working to keep them second class citizens where "marriage" is concerned. I am also against their desire to overturn Roe V Wade, which is also misguided. There should be RESTRICTIONS on abortions, parents should be notified, late term abortions abolished, etc... but taking away that right from a woman, is often used as a form of slavery, and for sure, ABUSE if she were raped and forced to carry to term. A fetus is not the same as a fully developed child, breathing on his own outside the womb. EVEN THE BIBLE supports this view, if you know where to look.

I am a FAIR MINDED person, which is why you find me on alternate sides of the aisle, depending on the issue.

That alone disproves your theory that I am an extreme ANYTHING.

If you want to call my spiritual experiences WHACKY, that's another issue. I can't prove my relationship with God to anyone.

But to make me into a right wing nut job, is ill-informed, if not wanton stupidity.

If you paid attention to the comments I make, you would know that.

If you don't pay attention to the comments I make, they wouldn't bother you.

You are illogical.

But that doesn't matter, because you are inspired by personal animosity, and not logic anyway. I get that you don't like me. I'll live. But I still try and commend you on the points I find commendable, and yet, when I do, you RARELY say thank you. I rise above this, and continue to praise the things in you I find praiseworthy.

Something motivates you to hate, and not be civil enough to say a simple "thank you".

Something motivates me to love, and find value, even in people that hate me.

Who knows? Your approach may be the right one. But it doesn't seem to bring you happiness personally, or motivate others toward love.

In contrast, what motivates me, is the same force that drives me to be of service to others whenever and wherever I can. To love them, and to be willing to help them or encourage them, even when they hate me.

To follow up on all this...

Those who are offended by me expressing my views, can take heart, because the time has come for me to share many things publicly. This forum is not public enough, for the magnitude of what I must share.

I will be developing a website and forum for these views, and will try and limit discussing any of them here.

I'll let everyone know when I have the foundation for this up and running, so those who are interested, or merely curious can pervue the information I present.

So, can the personal attacks for this particular issue take a backseat now?

I've shared what I've shared out of concern and love for others.

If you've misunderstood my motivation, I am sorry. But this won't be an issue soon, so at least relax on the personal attacks please.

I care about everyone here, and I hope the friendships we have developed continue.

Thanks for understanding. :-)

It has nothing whatsoever to do with whether or not I like you, Craig. It's all about what it does to us as a group. It polarizes us. It causes rifts that wouldn't be there if we weren't continually yanked around by your theories & postulations that none of us can fix or even work on, & are therefore, by definition, pointless exercizes in blabbery.

Mostly it's just bad seeing how it turns one of us against another, when that prolly wouldn't have happened if we stuck to music or at least tried to keep things a little lighter.

I like you fine, as a musician & a general person, even if I think you're a little whacky in some areas, & pig-headed in others. We all are. But there are damned few of us that can cause strife in a group situation like you can, & yes, that bugs the living hell outta me.

For the record, though, I don't think you've got any better handle on what's to come, or what God's plan is, than I do, or anyone else, & it kinda offends me that you would present yourself as if you were above any of us in those areas. It belittles you in my mind, & yeah, that offends me, cuz I don't like to think about ppl that way. I thought about GWB that way when he made the same outrageous claims.

Your visions have no more value than my own. The difference is that I don't go around telling ppl about them as if they were God's own words. You don't know WHERE these things come from any more than anyone else does, & there is nothing you can say that will convince me otherwise. In fact, when I see the results of your words on the group as a whole, I am drawn to ponder that perhaps you are pushing for the more chaotic forces than any real good ones. I'm sure you have lots of quotes & evidence of how you're such a fair-minded guy & a shitload of sorrowful feelings that I don't believe in you & stuff, but it's wasted on me.

I just wish you weren't so divisive...but I guess that's one of the things that makes you who & what you are. Just don't expect me to sit here & watch you tear us apart & keep quiet about it, k?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
blip - I can't give him better than a 3, either. But at least he played something. He mighta been gooder at one time, but his lips have been too polluted by politics & underfed by not playing music over the years...LOL
Phil,
Everything you said is fair. And understandable.
I'm not divisive.
The things I say and the arguments I make are divisive.
I make the distinction, because when I keep these things to myself, I am generally loved by everyone. Partly because I, myself, embrace and include everyone. I care about people. All people.
It's when I open my mouth, that somehow lines get drawn.
And I realize that it has dampened the otherwise light mood here. You are right, that this is not the ideal place for my particular brand of discussions.
I'm sure things will settle back down.
As far as my spiritual beliefs and beliefs about origin and purpose of life, all I can say, is that they have been arrived at over decades of study and searching, prayers and trials.
Having the experiences I have had, there are two choices really. Either they are real and profound, or I have a form of delusional disorder. But the people who have come to me throughout life, from psychics to Christian prayer warriors, a Prince of Zaire and others, tell me of their own revelations about me, and they are remarkably similar, and ALL unprovoked. This would help dispel the idea that it is based on a personal mental disorder, which then leads to one of several possibilities: The insights are real, or I have been the victim of the most remarkable coincidence ever. A coincidence that has recurred virtually my entire life.
In any event, my own ex-wife recently contacted me, after no contact for 6 years, and told me I was God's gift to the world, and that I must hurry, because the world doesn't have much time left.
She's as traditional a Christian as you can find. We used to go around and around on spiritual matters, and she would have divorced me early on, but in deep prayer about whether to leave me or not, God told her to drop her Bible on the floor and begin reading. When she did, she read about a figure of the Bible who had told the people they needed to rebuild THE WALLS around the Temple, to protect it, before they rebuilt the Temple itself. God told her that just as He had awaken the spirit of that Prophet, so too was He going to awaken MY SPIRIT, and that I would do great things for Him in the future. That He was going to use me, like the walls around the Temple, to protect it, so it could be rebuilt. Not a physical temple, but a spiritual one.
The issue I struggled over most, was whether Jesus was literally God in the flesh, or just a messiah and prophet. After all the studying I had done, of other relgions and books critical of Jesus' divinity, I could not believe that He was God. I just couldn't. But awhile after this revelation of hers, and after the most tearful night of praying I had ever experienced, God showed me the truth. And I accepted it readily, because I knew it was from God. I knew this because He had found a way to explain this to me, that no minister would have thought of at first. I already knew all the verses a minister would use to prove this to me, and they were not sufficient for me. God knew this about me, and came at me from left field, showing me the truth through the Bible, but in the most unexpected of ways, which is how God works.
It is His trademark in fact.
David, the smallest of his brothers, being the one who defeated Goliath and becoming the greatest king that Israel had ever known. Jesus, being put on a cross and killed, seemingly defeated, and yet this "defeat" becoming the greatest victory of all time. Simple uneducated fishermen, bringing the greatest spiritual truths ever known to all mankind, now revered as Disciples of the Messiah prophesied about for thousands of years, and those fishermen traveling throughout the world spreading what would become the largest, most transformative religion in the world.
How do simple fisherman from an obscure corner of the world, end up transforming that world? It is the mark of God. That the most overlooked, become the most difficult to overlook. That the weak are chosen to defeat the strong. That the unlearned, end up teaching the world.
God reveals Himself in the most unexpected, the most unorthodox and the most surprising of ways.
He always has.
