:) hello...i have been a bandmix member for quite some time..it is a great way to meet musicians..i am currently in a band with my son called liquid-fire band in nashu, nh.. i am also the bass and keyboard player..i have been battling prostrate cancer since april this year, just found out i need radiation now, but i am doing good....i have had such good care fromthe american cancer society and st.joseph's hospital, that i decided to pay back abd have a bands for a cure concert to benefit the acs relay for life, and also the hospital i was in for a month..i have brought in 4 other groups along with our band on oct.17th...i am writing this because i know a lot of bands get asked to do a lot of charity work, i was lucky to find good local boston talent that also believes in a worthy cause..i also had a lot of bands aske for a ridiculous price just to play for an hour so if any of you ever get asked to donate your time, think about the impact it will have on you fan base as well as the publicity you will get for doing something good...tnx for listening.....tom...liquid-fire band

hello...tnx for the support.show is finalized, not asking for help..just trying to get a message to bands that doing something good for free once is awhile will payback more than they realize with all the publicity, radio ads, newspapers etc. without comming back witha fee that is totally ridulous.. nce band i asked wanted $4500 to play for an hour, and they are not even known in this area...my band has played for autistic kids, and also the shriner's for the burn kids, not once did we ever want to charge for doing it, just because of the exposure we recieved for doing it..that is it..just venting about some of our local talent.. i think they need to wake up...

I almost always do two benefits a year. Last year I think I only did one, but that was pretty unusual. I've done up to 4 in the past, between bands & solo work.

Eh...I ain't no Harry Chapin, that's for sure!

Ya gotta respect that guy...his motto - "1 show for me, & 1 for the other guys that need help"...or something along those lines...imagine working 1/2 your time for charity!
