Thanks Dajax and Philby, I would like to play with you guy's too if we weren't so far away. Kicking Klouds didn't work out. I have since gotten with another band called Sold As Is, I have really high hopes for this one. We have a female singer and can do a lot of music that I haven't been able to do in a long time. :D

How about a rock band with a jazz flute?! :D :D :D

Mary playing flute, Chippy playing drums, Kramer and J-Haley on guitars (you guys work out who plays rhythm/lead), and either me on bass or Philbymon on bass (if you play bass, Phil, I'd manage the band).

That would be pretty interesting right there!

Of course, I like and respect all the musicians on this forum that I've had interactions with. I'm just saying if I had to choose, these would be my picks. Much love and respect. :D

Hey redneck asshole from Texas... :D

Expect a phone call, what are your hours currently so I won't wake you up? Need to talk to you, should be headed for East Texas in a few days, might be able to stop along the way if you have a bit of time off.

Me? Geez it would be difficult to pick from this crew. Some great players here, I do know JW would definitely be on my list, I've heard him play in person and he's an excellent player, otherwise I'd have to sit and listen through a lot of peoples' stuff for days to really decide who I would be interested in working with. Some acoustic stuff with rhythm man would probably be cool, he's another really good player. Other than those, I really have no idea, haven't really thought much about it, but after hearing JW last winter I've wanted to make it up to Memphis ever since and hit an open mic one night, see what kind of mischief we could stir up if we could both get onstage and jam at the same time...I'm sure we could think up a couple of show stopper tunes that would be suitable, and with both of us having a tendency to ham it up and do a show instead of just stand there and play, I'm betting a good time would be had by all...

This is a DEEP subject. There are MANY talented people on Bandmix. There are hundreds, if not thousands of Bandmixers who are very talented and participate in the forum once in a blue moon or not at all. Occasionally on the home page I click on the videos tab and listen to all kinds of Bandmixer's youtube videos. Of the frequent forum contributors I have many favorites. I can't reduce the list to the top five. Here's some of my favorites in no particular order:

Craig Maxim- To me his voice is the definition of a southern rocker. I don't know if any famous southern rock singer ever sounded better. If you haven't listend to his recent original compositions you're missing out on something rather special. This guy is a GREAT songwriter in all genres and man can he SING. Plus he freely posts great advice and timely news articles on the forum.

jw123- Another person who freely gives advice, especially on equipment, and I enjoy his gig pictures. This guy is a hard rocking lead guitarist. His band sounds great. Lead singer is great, reminds me a little of Bon Scott.

Neanderpaul- A one man army of music. Diverse, inventive, creative and a GREAT vocalist. I expect him someday soon to appear on the Late Show with Dave Letterman. Check out his Youtube videos if you haven't.

Alan Bradley (RhythmMan)- Whenever he posts his material I keep thinking late 60's, early 70's sound (Mamas and Papas, Jim Croce, etc.) but with more sophistication. Yes, he definitely needs to post more material. I'm looking forward to his CD releases.

Ryan Strain- I have trouble understanding the words but I'm amazed anybody can do what he does. I almost get laryngitis just listening to him. I predict Ryan will be touring with somebody within the next few years.

Noisy Kung Fu- (Sanshouheil) These guys are developing a signature sound. Whether you're into the religious message or not, you have to be impressed with the tone and feel of this band. Hopefully they get into the studio and put out a CD soon.

Jhaley- He's really a slick guitarist. There isn't any song out there this guy can't do justice to. I wish him luck with his new band.

philbymon- Bass, guitar, bands or solo work. Can do it all plus he's a fisherman so he can't be all that bad.

Black57- Wow, spectacular flutist. Put MORE tunes on your profile page please.

Ratsass- I talked with him on the phone a while back. He's making a living in music. By definition you have to be GOOD to do that. Especially in this crappy economy.

Crip- Boobs notwithstanding this is one of the hardest rocking people on Bandmix.

I'm sorry if I left anybody off the list. I know there's a lot more. And hopefully more will follow...

Bob,

You made a very good list, and good details included. I agree with you, on all these guys. And thank you for the comments about myself as well!

Choosing only 5 is hard!

That's why I try to stay out of these (this same thing has been posed before) cause everyone wants to be included, as a sign of mutual respect from their peers, and sometimes people are not included, not because of talent, but because of genre differences etc...

Is everyone familiar with Motown's inner workings?

Hittsville U.S.A. the sign on the door read. It was a STABLE of very talented artists and musicians, singers and songwriters, and the idea was to match the right songs with the right people or groups. So one guy may write a song, and even though he sang himself, it may be passed over to someone who was thought would be better for that particular song. It was basically ALOT of tools available to be used, all in the same drawer!

A BandMix style Motown would be REALLY COOL!!!

Imagine, not having to have a set project or genre you were forced to stay in. But instead, different Bandmixers working together in different combinations for different songs and projects, and just turning out A HELL OF ALOT OF GOOD MUSIC!!!

That's MY Top-5 nod! :-)

.
