It takes a certain amount of either balls or naivette to go to a musicians' forum & ask for donations to produce a CD. I'm amazed at the patience of me fellow BM-ers.

DT - just so's ya know - there are MANY of us here that are in the same boat as you, & we have many of the same problems, in spite of having some truly world-class material in the wings. Finding ppl to play with or amassing the necessary funds to produce our works are hurdles that we all must overcome.

You might do better to write stuff specific to someone's needs, & then seek THEM out as a sponsor. Like christian music getting a sponsorship from a church. Coming to us for funding is like one hobo asking another for a handout.

Good luck, bub. I think your fund-raising skills need some work...LOL

Well look, another johnny-come-lately begging for something.

Maybe you shouldn't have sold your everything to bet on a 1000000 to 1 shot at ?

And that's fairly pleasant for Philby, I am the sardonic one. I think Philby could have rubbed your nose in the sh*t, but for some unknown reason he didn't. (next time, do it Phil)

And dodge, I wouldn't send ya so much as a penny WITH NO MUSIC..

You just fall off the hay wagon or wtf? Get a tin cup and some dark glasses, you creepy cowboy.

philbymon spoke the truth to you. And you come back with that crap? You suck. I can't believe you're that old and still came here with that weak garbage. We are not generally customers. We are musicians refining our craft and trying to get a leg up like you. If you can't take wise advice get out.

You could always fly United Airlines and have them break your guitar and make a video about it and get millions of hits on youtube and ask everyone to send you a buck :)

I used to work at a studio and watched the owner invest tens of thousands of dollars into band's recording projects, One band from NYC was over $40K alone after paying the bands hotel, food, recording, engineering...the deal was to get a portion of sales... well, the band didn't do a single thing to support the CD and broke up soon after leaving the owner with a great CD....that was worthless. The singer of one band stole all the CDs at the first printing...buried them in a land fill and checked himself into a mental facility...I kid you not!!!! So many people in the industry are vary weary of putting money into ANY project unless you can show you have already put a HUGE amount of effort yourself into your project If the person or band doesn't put in their own effort (radio interviews, touring to support the CD, doing the work needed, the recording is completely worthless.
Music is a business, probably the hardest of them all...you can't sit back and expect to just have an idea and people will throw money at you.

If the man sold everything except that which he truly had need in order to chase his dreams, I'd say he was doing anything but sitting back.
That is a lot more than I am willing to do.
Nor would I ask for donations.
I got to give him credit for being forthright about his intents.
But I usually go by this rule.

In God I trust, all others pay cash !

I do believe you got it bassakwards though TEX.
Produce your CD first.
I have given $10.00 to a musician for a CD, then told em to keep it and sell it to someone else. Simply because I believed in what he was doing.
But did not care for his musical style.

Eh...my widdle feelers ain't hurtin'.

I've come to the conclusion that some ppl just can't handle the truth...

I can live with that, but it don't stop me from speakin' it in my own "childish" way.

Have fun with whatever you're doin', but asking for a handout with nothing to show for it is kinda funny to me. I'd rather invest in something I know will succeed...like ENRON, maybe...LOL
