Now that is how a music video should be done!
Sweet, love watching them work those instruments.

WTF

Just another Zep band?

Do you think you could do better then put up or shut up!

These guys are nailing it, and when I researched it further it is an online collaboration done in real time. They each have have a web cam of some sort and play this together live. You dont think thats amazing. There are more groups like this on youtube. Isnt everyone on here always looking for good musicians to play with? Well these guys have found a way to do that, what have you done lately. The thing that gets me is that everytime Ive done an online recording deal we had some major latency issues.

And the guy singing is doing about as good of a job covering Plant as anyone Ive ever seen.

These guys were definately thinking outside the box.

No offense, man.. I just am not a big fan of zep cover bands. Yes he has a good voice. No I didnt know it was long distance collab. I'll have to re-check it out again now that it's coffee time and not wine-time.

ZZ I love Zep, I think most people on here know that especially Philby!

It wasnt really that it was Zep, its the fact that they did it live. If you dig into youtube look up virtual bands, there was some Metallica and others so its not limited to Zep, these guys do have 7 Zep tunes posted and they sound great on all of them. Esp all the guitar harmony parts.

But yeah dig in there and look around theres some neat stuff.

Theres a few more of these, this is totally cool!

I'm a little confused. You say in a later post in this thread they they did this collaboratively online overcoming the latency. Are you saying the music was done live between different collaborators one day, and then each person who recorded themselves during the jam combined each of the vids into the movie? Or was this a passing of the football - one person did their part, sent it to the other to add their part, etc?

That was amazing for a collab effort either way.

Chris my understanding of this is that they did this live and then one of them put the video together. Im not sure and really dont know or have time to worry about it. I was on another forum and some guy asked about putting a virtual zep band video together and someone said its already been done. He posted a link to these, go into youtube and look up virtual bands there are others. Just way cool, as for myself I still like live interaction.

Very interesting. One or two shots in that vid (such as the neck-cam showing him play while he's twirling) makes me think it was likely a foot-ball toss strategy. I still think latency would prevent live interaction to be that tight - unless they all hit "play" at the same time on a click track of some type. Or maybe a conference call, but I'm skeptical of the live aspect of it. I'm gonna try to contact them to see how they did this, if they're open to sharing.

Thanks for the link. It inspired me to pursue an online collaboration!

It can be difficult to find musicians who share the same passions and goals... I think however people collaborate, as long as they are collaborating, it's a good thing.

I could not care less (wonder if I got it right that time) what band or whose music. The angles of the shots, the instruments being worked, sheer joy to me. I hate all that lipsync BS while jumping up and down on a roof in your underwear or some other bullshit. If your going to do a music video, do a MUSIC video.

Yeah online collabs are cool. I did 2 songs a few months ago with a singer in Philly thru "Kompoz". His name is "Claytooth" . He's good. They're originals. One's on myspace page called "Warmfeet" and "Telephone Poles" I'll put up here in a a little while. And no, JW I can't do better than those guys.. well the Dreamtheater guys, anyway.. hehe..

Z, I saw those, one of them looked almost like they were lipsyncing to me. It just didnt look right. Everynow and then I get a hankering for Dream Theatre. I actually get a kick out of them doing some of those cover songs they do more than their own stuff. They are an awesome group of musicians.

O Im referring to Dream Theatre them selves not the virtual group.
