I'm lying in bed Monday morning 2am, sick as a dog 102 degree fever. There's a thunderstorm off in the distance. Nothing really, a few flashes of lightning and then thunder, very far away really, then BOOM! A giant bolt of lightning, bright orange-red. The smoke detectors go off for a few seconds. I race outside running around the townhouse looking for fire and/or smoke. Thank God nothing. Next day one of my TV's is fried, my computer is fried (both were on surge protectors), an outlet is charred (miracle it didn't catch fire), my smoke detectors don't work (they are hard wired in). Talk about being scared to death. It was the biggest explosion of lightning I've ever seen or heard. We had minimal damage compared to some of my neighbors. All this when I'm delirious with fever. It's pouring rain outside and it's COLD compared to the day before. What a friggin week this has been. I hope your week's going better than mine...

You know how states have official slogans, Missouri is the Show Me State, New Mexico is the Land of Enchantment, etc. I thought of a new slogan for Kansas: Sh*t happens in Kansas. As much as I like living here a lot of sh*t has happened to me here.

Sorry to hear about that Bob. Call your insurance co. When I was in buisiness one of my customers had the same thing happen the lighting bolt hit a gable on one end of the house blew the siding (vynal) of that gable went all the way thru the attic and out the gable on the other end of the house and blew the siding off of that gable. It also blew the siding off of about 60% of the house and fried 2 computers and 2 tv's and the insurance co. paid for all of it less the deductible. It turns out his house was on the highest ground in this subdivision of thousands of houses his was the tallest. He was lucky compared to some of the houses I rebuilt after a lighting strike one of them only had 2 walls left after the resulting fire.

Ah, bob - with any luck at all, the wheel will turn & good stuff will start up any day now. You'll get better stuff than the stuff you had that was fried...you'll start feeling better...your band will have some great shows...

Until then, ride it out in your own inimicable fashion, with your wit intact.

This guy I knew, he did some sort of biofeedback thingie on me once. He determined that the area I live in, now, is full of surprizes for me, & is in a constant state of "flux," or change. This supposedly means that, should I remain in this area, that I will live the Chinese curse, or "live an interesting life."

Judging from what's been happening to me for the last 25 years, I think I hafta agree with him.

Maybe that's why you're having such experiences where you are...

Of course, I had to reassess his assertions when he told me that Philadelphia would be a good area for me...(then again, I never spent much time in that region...it's just that from what I saw it didn't LOOK that friendly to someone of my tastes...)

Anyway, I really hope things start looking better for you, soonly. Nobody needs that kinda crap in his life. Kick the horse in the ass & ride it out, is about all you can do, right?

Oh yeah - & if you're superstitious, don't temp fate by asking if it could get worse, cuz it always can!

I feel for you brother.

But consider the storm a metaphor of sorts. Storm only last for a relatively short period of time, and the calm that follows lasts much longer! Sounds like your calm will be coming soon. Maybe you are in line for some big GOOD things to follow? I know you have been wanting to put out a CD. Maybe that is ready to get accomplished and will be a big boost to your band?

Just remember, storms pass before long, and the calm that follows is far longer than the storm we survived!

And lightning?

Lost a huge 56" TV before.

Now, I just completely unplug the things I don't want to lose. Surge protectors are a very limited protection. And if you have your internet or tv trhough a cable, it's good to unplug that too! I just unhook ALL plugs from a computer or tv I want to protect during a storm.

Let's see Bob, you live in Kansas, were running a fever, and there was a HUGE storm outside. At least you didn't end up in Oz. Not that it would be all that bad, but I didn't hear one single blues song in the whole movie. :P

Munchkins sing acapella! Not much need for a six foot bassest. LOL
I recently saw an add for a new wizard, the old one floated back to Kansas.

Well my storm was inside the house a few weeks ago. The element in one of my hot water heaters blew out and flooded my den ruining the hardwood floor. When I built the house I told everyone that floor would outlast the rest of the house. Karma is funny, I also used to joke about having great hair. Ha Ha hair today gone tomorrow. They started tearing out my floor this morning, so my world is upside down with furniture and things all over the rest of the house.

Thru the years Ive lost a couple of tvs, a couple of tvs, an amp and a pa head to lightning. It sux. Hopefully things will get better.

When I lived in New Jersey and travelled to Pennsylvania it always seemd like the roads there were being torn up by new construction. How about "Pennsylvania the Tore Up State."
