A glass of wine at night is s'posed to help stabilize insulin levels...that is if you drink the dry wine. I have a glass of merlot every night at dinner. However, most people who remove sugars and carbs from their diets have a harder time handling their alcohol. That has been my experience.
I also add coconut products to my diet. Coconut oil, MCT oil, ccconut butter and coconut milk are staples. Also, an avocado has way more potassium than a banana and is one of the most nutritious fruits on the planet. I eat at least 3 avocados a week. No, I am not diabetic but that is not by accident. I guarantee you that I was on the road leading to diabetes. I had numerous classic symptoms showing that I was headed in that direction. I have 2 siblings and a mom who have developed full blown diabetes. My mom is on dialysis after being diabetic for nearly 30 years. I 100% believe that with the right diet...one that addresses stabilizing insulin and stimulating glucagon is the ideal way to go. Like insulin, glucogon is produced by the pancreas and together glucagon and insulin work together to keep glucose in perfect balance. Here is the clincher, the pancreas does not produce glucagon if insulin is not stable. In order to stabilize insulin levels you need to consume a diet that supports this. I am pretty strict with my diet but I really enjoy it. I love eating meat and vegetables. That sounds like I eat a lot of vegetables but I only eat about 1-3 servings a day. I add coocnut oil and real cream to my coffee. I use real butter. The pay off has been better energy levels and a better night's sleep, no more insulin spikes and no more migraines.Plus I eat food that I have always enjoyed but avoided because I was told that it was bad for human consumption
