I had this problem for years as well. It mostly went away after I got divorced. But seriously, I eat pretty much anything, but never after 9pm. And I don't mix jalepenos and tequila. If I do have an incident I use the Pepcid Complete chewables.

I try to make sure I eat something between drinks these days. It used to be just straight booze.

Seriously, about 3 yrs ago I weighed close to 200 lbs. I quit drinking soft drinks and went to straight water. I eat out a lot, but I started mixing up my meals. One day Mexican, One day Italian, One day Fish, One day Beef. I learned to push away from the table. One trick for a while was to leave a fourth of my food on my plate. Over a 6 month period I dropped 45 lbs. While I was at 155 lbs I felt weak. So I started feeding myself a little more, currently Im at 162 lbs and feel pretty good. I eat fruits and veggies also, but I try mot to eat too much of any one thing. I even found some ice cream with low sugar. I keep a box in the fridge. But I dont fill up a big bowl. I just open the top and have a few spoonfuls at a time. Its taken some discipline to regulate my eating, cause honestly I like food more than anything. Im not currently taking any medication at all, I try to eat about 4 bananas a week cause I am low on potassium. I used to get leg cramps, but eating the b's stopped that.

For me this post was more mental than anything. Ive always felt like I can do anything I want to do if I put my mind to it, but the recent events in my life have maybe changed my point of view some.

This afternoon Im going to a Memorial service for a gal I grew up with that died of cancer. She was my first girlfriend back in 6th grade. A lot of my old classmates may be there so it will be a sort of sad reunion.

Anyway, I didnt realize that I had struck a nerve with this thread but I obviously did.

Ive been on the road all weekend and didnt get to check in, everyone have a Great Day, and I guess all of us in this discussion should just be glad that we are able to do the things we want to do.

If you are wondering what I did all weekend. I went to the club we are playing next friday this past friday and handed out cds and tryed to encourage folks to come see us.

Sat night I got to announce a dirt bike race, then went back to the same club and talked it up to folks again to try and build some sort of buzz for this coming weekend.

Got to see one of my favorite performers Jasmine Cane

below is a photo of her and me, of course I got her to put on one of our t-shirts!

Craig, I have heard of acid reflux damaging your voice temporarily. At night when you are sleeping and especially if you have a hiatle hernia (spelling) Sans would probably no better than me. The way I understand it is there is a valve in your esoghagus that keeps stomach acid from bubbleing up into the larnyx area. As we get older that valve stops functioning properly and allows acid to bubble up into that area and damage the vocal chords (my exwife had this problem) she lost her voice fore a longer than normal period of time and the doctor diagnoced this condition put her on prevacid and that was the end of it.

Googled her. Looks like she's got quite a following. She looks more goth/metal than the music she has posted on her myspace page, which to me sounds a little Alanis D'ish, maybe even a twinge of country-rock. I like her voice.

Ah Yeah, thanks Chris. She's good.
We had a rock band in Nashville too back in the 70s. It's not just for GOO's anymore (Grand Ole Opry's) :P
That's really cool JW. And she's a fox too. Don't let your wife find out :D
(I'm so glad we got off of the old folks' acid reflux disease talk  )hhhh...

Jasmine is from the Jackson TN area, these days she tours all over the place. She plays heavy rock and a lot of stuff that my band plays. You may notice I dont mention much about any local bands that I know. None of them impress me that much, but Jasmine is the real deal. She can sing and play bass as good as any man Ive known. I think she told me they are headed up toward Sturgis for the bike rally to play. If you like harder heavier music go see her, I dont think you will be dissapointed.

jw123, here are a few of my thoughts. First of all, this is unquestionably the best posts discussion I have ever read on Banbmix. Do the prospects of our individually required 'dirt naps' generally and usually prompt such straightforward and seemingly sober comments that we are all reading on this post? The answer is obviously a resoundind "Yes". I specifically endeaver to make the point to tell every musician I communicate with that it is absolutely necessary that when they work with their instrument they attact what they are doing as if it will be the very last time for them to have the opportunity to do so, because, the truth is, there will in fact be a last time for all of us...I just turned 55 and yes, I am working harder than I ever have in life, but fortunatly, Providence has overwhelmingly provided me with the means to sucessfully work smarter. Physically though, the human body is amazing in that the harder it works, regardless of age, the stronger it gets in the process provided that it does not become destroyed in the process. So, in order to attemp to prolong this ride as long as possible, my word to anyone is, and I suggest to all, to remove everything from this life that purposes to seek to tear you down in any way, no matter how suttle it may seem, and to to only gather those things into your life that builds you up and uncompromisingly supports your well-being. Take care.
