I've been fortunate to see some amazing things in the sky. When I was a teenager I saw the SKylab (I think that's what it was called). The year we moved to Kansas City we were driving on Shawnee Mission Parkway headed west right at dusk and there was this huge, bright object motionless on the horizon. It was lighting up the ground. Then it started moving towards us and got bigger, and bigger. All the cars on the Parkway stopped and people got out to look at this amazing celestial object. As it got closer we could see that it wasn't one object but many of different sizes strung together. Each one was appeared to be on fire. It looked really close but it wasn't making any sound. Then it was directly over head and really started moving FAST and within a few seconds disappeared over the horizon. Turned out it was a large Russian space rocket re-entering the Earth's atmosphere and burning up. I believe it crashed into the Pacific Ocean. It was THE most awesome thing I ever saw in the sky. It was scary but fascinating to observe. I also witnessed a meteorite explode into three pieces as it entered the atmosphere. I think it was called a fireball by astronomers. There were TENS of thousands of UFO reports that time all over the eastern seaboard. I guess since I'm outside all the time I have more chances to see these phenomenae.
