Dave Couture, Yes maybe you should stay out of this place. It is clear you don't understand the frustrations of being a U.S. citizen. The way you direspect us shows that you have some real hate for us and some underlying character issue's. As a United States Citizen I am frustrated because our political leaders lie to us on a regular basis just to get us to elect them into office and then they do whatever the hell they want. Then we have to wait 4 more years to vote them out of office only to have the whole process start over. How Dare you call us arrogant buddy, the reason your country is doing so well is because you keep to yourselfs what the hell does Canada do to feed the world and stand up to protect freedom for the little guy (country around the world) who the hell do you think was instrumental in getting the Berlin Wall torn down you asshole. Yeah the U.S. sticks it's nose sometimes where it doesn't belong but at least we are trying to do something about it while your country sets on the fence and assholes like you run us down for trying. No the U.S. is not perfect and How dare you expect us to be, but at least we are trying. I would never go on the Canadian site here at bandmix and run your country down and I swore to myself that I wasn't going to respond to your drivel but after reading the udder dispise you have for the U.S. I could not stop myself this morning. So why don't you take your own advise (you are embarassing yourself) and just disappear back into your oh so magnificent country and shut your piehole because as an average hard working U.S. citizen I don't care to hear your disrepectful drivel. I have never heard of you before. Have you ever heard of me? Good lets keep it that way!

Not at all, Dave. Not all of us will get our butts on our shoulders over a new idea.

Someone said something about removing the profit motive for pharm co's. I think that a 15,000% profit markup for necessary drugs is a bit like holding a gun to someone's head, but perhaps that's just me.

When capitalism runs amok, it's just as bad as socialism or communism or dictatorships. In the end, you have slaves to someone.

Yeah, something needs to be done to help those of us that need help.

Sans can surely tell us about our downright inhuman stance on pain meds for the elderly, for cancer patients, for injury patients. I've had friends suffer needlessly as they lay dying, & it seems damned awful to me, thank you Nancy Reagan!

Take my HMO - please! - I am so damned limited there is little I can do without spending too much to even talk to a Dr that can address any problem I may have. The only quack that accepts my HMO in a 30 mile radius is one with such horrible office staff that THEY screw up appointments & filing for claims. The local hospital is just as bad. Which results in some claims getting swept under the rug until the ins co can say "no way we aren't paying," & then they come after me for the entire bill.

Here’s the arrogance, again. That makes absolutely no sense to me…and if my grandfather still be alive today, he would be appalled by your comment. He was there, on D-Day, with 5000 other Canadian soldiers. My Master’s degree is in Geomatics, but I always loved history and I took as many history classes as I could during my 6 years of study. My favorite subject was the history of wars. I can throw a few books at you that would educated you on the matter. America DIDN’T save the world, it only CONTRIBUTED to the victory.

sanshouheil wrote:But our economies are inextricably linked

Again, I can throw figures at you that would prove you otherwise. The MAIN difference between Canada and the US, on the economy, is our laws. Laws that protects us, the citizens, and not the ever so greedy corporations. (my wife’s a banker, btw)

Like I said Dave, been good friends and allis.
Arrogence?
You think 5000 soliders is impressive. LOL
You have a right to be proud of your grandfather.
And I am glad he was there for us.
But frankly 5000 Canadians at Normandy, would not even make a good baseball team.
You masters dont mean sh*t, you spent years studying lies.
Have a good day.

WHAT? I was not disrespecting you or the US, I was only defending myself against the ignorant comment made by the idot Rocket. So, it's OK for him to insult me and my country, but it's not OK for me to defend myself?????????....nice, real nice!!!

If you read my post agin, you’ll see that I say SOME are arrogant, not all. I’ve been in a few countries in my life, I know what ppl think of the US, in general.

Oh, please, do you have any idea how much money we give evry year to poor countries. Do you know how many of our ppl die every year to help others. It’s not because you don’t hear about it in your little cocoon, that it means that it’s not happening….duh!!!

I never said it was impressive, but, unlike the US, we joint WWII two months after it started, in 1939; with the goal of helping Europe during a war time. You guys joined in 1941, because the Japanese hit you at Pearl Harbour. Between 1939 and 1941, before the US even joint the war, thousands of Canadians had already died. The US always refused to get involved in WWII, prior to PH. The only reason you joint WWII, was because the Germans and Japanese were becoming more and more of a threat to your country. Everything you did in Europe, you did it for yourself; to push the enemies back, so they won't get a remote chance to get in the US territory, again. That’s why so many ppl are angry at the US when they claim they saved Europe....I know, I've been to Europe a few times! If the US intent was truly to help and liberate Europe, then you would have joint the war way before being attacked!

Call this lies, or whatever you want. The rest of the world is on the same page, on this historical fact!

Again with the USA good, everybody else bad. If ppl tell you otherwise, they are liers.

You guys need to get off you high horses !!!

Dave, I think what Sans was getting at here is the fact that history is written by the victors. Many a historical moment has now been proven to be completely made up. I know when I was in school, we never doubted one thing that was taught to us. Now I know we should have.
Forums are for expressing and exchanging ideas and opinions. We shouldn't be bickering over which country is right, we should be discussing how to make things better for all. I agree that if you are personally attacked (which shouldn't even happen in the first place) that you have the right to attack back, but also know that two wrongs don't make a right (but three rights make a left :) ). I personally don't get mad at what anybody says. It's their opinions and they have a right to state them. If I disagree, I'll just calmly voice mine back at them.
The loud voice is heard, the calm voice is listened to.
Peace, all.

You are obviously the wiser one here…lol, are you a mediator here? If not, you should be! I'm a good guy, but when someone starts calling me names, just to feel strong, I just turn a bit ugly!

I used to lived in the US, I have many, many American friends, and I do respect Americans. But, respect works both ways!!! If you disrespect me, I will disrespect you, as simple as that!

Personally, the mediation sucks in the forum. It's OK for an American (in this forum)to insult others and nobody says anything about it. but, when the others defends themselves, suddenly, they are the bad guys. It’s pretty much a one sided view.

There’s a difference between an opinion and malicious intent!!!

Funny how this sounds just like our Congress, when it comes to this issue, ain't it? "Socialized medicine? How unAmerican!"

Ridiculous arguments over semantics.

Ppl are dying. Ppl are suffering. Fix it, because you CAN, & it is in our best interest as a nation, & as human beings.

As it stands now, a serial killer on death row gets better health care than I do, at least until he's killed. Lifers get better care, too. How stupid is that, folks?

I should get at least as good care as our prison population, shouldn't I? Especially since I frikken PAY for it!

If you're free, in this country, you're free to suffer. If you're jailed, you aren't. If you can pay, you can be relatively healthy. If your job isn't as good, you're flooked. Is this the cost of "freedom?"

Ska-ROO dat! Treat me at least as well as you do your criminals, USA!

GREAT post, honestly, bravo!!!

It was logical, it was well thought out, but, most of all, you've made a very good point, without feeling the need to insult someone...lol (just pulling your leg).

The point of the thread is health care, I thought. Canada does better than we do at it. We should be asking questions on how they do it, not "what do YOU do for the rest of the world?" I suspect that if you look at the amount of good works they do, & compare it to ours, it comes pretty close in percentages to their population & GNP & such. Even if it they don't do anything to help the world at large, they take better care of their own than we do.

You wanna get in a pissing contest every time someone comes up with a good idea? You should run for Congress, cuz you'd fit right in.

"Good works" start in your neighborhood, & the USA doesn't do much about things in that area, as far as I can see, while they're out to save the world from its innumerable evils. Why not?

Are you kidding me? Do you sincerely believe we do nothing, and the US does everything, seriously?

Man, I don't even know where to begin, and since I’m at work, I don’t have much time to waste on something you could easily find out by yourself, if you would take the time to look.

For starter, how about our soldiers dying in Afghanistan, every week, to help Afghan rebuild. (http://www.cbc.ca/search/cbc?ie=utf8&site=CBC&output=xml_no_dtd&getfields=description&oe=utf8&safe=high&q=soldier+die) (for a war that US started, btw). We also spend $16-billion per year for effort toward the collective, multilateral pursuit of international peace and security. We give millions to secure food, worldwide (http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5gjq3y3LBTxbsBKFSXPn0zeilR_Og).

Man, I could go on and on about canadian accomplishement, but, make an effort, would ya? It never stop to amaze me on how little Americans know about its closest friend and ally….very sad!

I guess I have to spell it out for you again. You Dave Corture said your country is doing better than ours finance wise thats what I understood. I told you that the reason you are doing better is because I don't believe Canada does near as much not even f**kin close considering percentages population or GNP. To which you said Oh please do you have any Idea how much money we give every year to poor countries. Do you know how many people die every year to help others. it's not because you don't hear about it in your little cocoon. Thats what you said then I simply asked for some specifics. That pissed you off then you act like I was saying ya'll do nothing. I know you guy's contribute your little bit to make yourselfs feel good. In comnparison to what the U.S. does it's a drop in the bucket. That is what frustrates me while we are sticking our noses in everyone else's buisness and my hard earned tax dollars are paying for it we allow 22 miilion illegal aliens to come into this country exploit our economy and we give hundreds of billions of dollars to support the world economy with my f**kin tax dollars and some little twit like you sets on your feel good fence and say's we are arrogant once again I say you are embarrasing yourself with your masters degree you moron. You are the arrogant one that is living in a cocoon. I wish oh how I wish the U.S. would just take our ball and go home take care of our own and watch the world economy fall apart, don't kid yourself that is exactly what would happen. I frankly took your post as an insult and I can't believe my fellow countryman whom I have a lot of respect for is defending you. The reason the U.S. can't take care of our own people is because we are to busy giving our money away to the rest of the world. so Philby you can stick your head in the sand and ignore it but I'm not.
