I guess Im a minority.

I always loved Lep, I remember seeing them in their heyday and they sounded great in concert.

It sounds pretty good to me.

Taylor can come sing with my group anytime!

Could these responses be fueled by jealousy?

Thanks Captain, I enjoyed that.

Really weak performance. She does not have the vocals to do that song justice.

She is cute - but this is music, not a pinup poster party.

Kate Bush
Cyndi Lauper
Ann Wilson
Chrissie Hynde
Dale Bozzio
Pat Benatar

These were my favorites but there's a huge list of lesser known female singers that are also very good.

How could you not include Christina Aguillera or Amy Whinehouse in that list?

I was just curious of what YOU thought...

I think you can guess my response to this.

I saw the Crossroads on CMT, and it was... ...well, it wasn't terrible, but it definitely wasn't good either. :? I can't view the YouTube link now, but if if is of the Crossroads special, I know exactly what you mean. This was a mismatch made in the 2nd ring of Dante's Inferno.

Just a wild guess here , but because Christina Aguillera is a Pop singer and Amy Whinehouse is a Blues/Funk singer; they are not rock singers...well, their producers don't categories them as such.

A name that's truly missing here, though, is Lita Ford!

I loved it. What is wrong with it? I mean Def Leppard let Taylor Swift set in on a tune. Sure she is young and just getting started and her voice is very feminine she obviously doesn't know how to get down and dirty with her voice (raspy when she needs to) but give her a little time. I have always had an open mind when it comes to vocalist. I fell head over heels in love with Pat Benatars voice when they came out with their first single Heartbreaker that immediately shot up the charts in 1978. Her voice was smooth as glass but she can make it nasty when she wants too. Neal Geraldo (Spider) instantly became one of my favorite guitar players and still is. Oh and I liked the Celine Dion version of You Shook Me All Night Long. That lead guitar player didn't do a very good job with the solo, man thats an easy solo too. I have heard a lot of guy singers do a way worse job with that song.

Agreed J. But the question was if I like said performance.
Does she have talent. Yes
Will she improve, only time will tell.
I, like John, really liked DL back in their hayday, and listened to their music a lot.
And by that measure I found her performance weak.

Totally agree, she couldn't even do the vocal climb at the end...what's that all about??? She's not much of a lead singer, she's more of a backup vocal.

I believe "Rock" was crafted from Blues and Pop is a meaningless term to me as "music is music" and these girls rock as vocalist's!

Ya'll wanna hear a chick that can belt it out? Check out Tracy Bonham. She had a video on MTV a long time ago and as soon as I saw it, I had to get the CD. Her band has an undefinable original sound and her voice does whatever the song calls for, going from smooth and innocent to raspy and hard edged.
This is the one from MTV:

or live:

Evidently she can play guitar and violin too.
