This is a long and weird story..

A couple weeks ago my cat got into it with another cat in my backyard and I chased the other cat off. Pretty typical.

About a week later, I try to chase the same cat away, cat looks at me and says "f**k you!! I ain't leaving!" So I say to myself.. " There's no way this cat has balls this big.. I know what's going on". I grab a flashlight, check the front.. Nope.. Check the back. YEP!!

Kitten..

Just one.. Not too uncommon for how young and small this cat is. Looks to be maybe a year old.

So I go to my next-door neighbor and ask her if she knows who's cat it is. "It's my cat, she just started coming around here and I started feeding her." Yea well she has a kitten, and it's in my yard.

I've been working my ass off, doing the band thing and stairs for minimum wages (so I'm working long hours). I seriously have no time to deal with it. But my next door neighbor is in her 80's, she loves the cat, can barely move, but she lives alone and she loves this cat.. Fine. I can see why. It's a really friendly cat.

But she doesn't feed it every day. She put food out for it every couple of days or so (according to her).. The cat looks a little anemic. So I started feeding it myself. You shoulda seen how starved it was, that cat woofed down a bowl of food in 10-seconds.

FINE.. Cat and kitten can chill until I have the time to figure out what to do.. She loves the cat, they just chill in the front yard in my bushes shaded from the heat.

Two days later, guess what????

TWO kittens..

Woa!! Damn!! Ok.. Fine. Musta been hiding from me.. (by the way.. They look to be pushing about 2-months old, should be weened by now)

Been feeding Cat and kittenS for about a week now.

Today I go to work, come home, and there's a basket with a pillow in my flower bed. Damn man. This ain't gonna work, my sprinklers are gonna come on and it'll get all wet. So I go to my neighbor again to tell her she can't leave things in the flower bed.. But I understand, she's concerned and loves the cats.

She tells me that she didn't put a basket in my flower bed. That she did talk to my neighbors across the street, and that they were ALL concerned about the cat that's in MY yard. And that one of them was holding one of the kittens. So maybe it was them who put the basket there. Odd.. But Ok. Whatever..

Later tonight, I go back outside to get cigarettes out of my car. What do I see you ask????

THREE kittens!! TTTHHHRREEEE Kittens and a basket!!

My F**king neighbors across the street are dumping their cats off at my house while I'm at work!! HOW F**KING WIERD IS THAT?? THOSE FREAKING CRACKHEADS!!!

If some of you remember, my tires were stolen a while back. And I always suspected the people across the street of stealing them, but I could never prove it. Now they're dropping their cats off at my house!! And they have the 80-year-old lady next door to me believing that it's just a stray and that she should keep it.. IN MY YARD!!! WITH THREE KITTENS!!!!!!!!!!

I will be working a 12-hour day tomorrow, at least, to finish a house that HAS to be finished, I have band practice after that, bills coming at me from all angles, s**t ready to be shut off, and crackheads dropping off not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 cats at my house while I try to hold all of this s**t together.

I can't even do anything about this until the weekend. I have to work long hours, and practice all week. We have a gig on Saturday. 3- 40 minute sets.

You try to be nice..

Hmmmmm

Cats get a raw deal over here. Sorry but they do. No one neuters them, most people just look at them as rat killers, not as pets.

I have 3. They are all weird but pretty loyal. I've moved into an area just like yours and now I find that there are two prides out there of kittens. In total there are about 15 outside cats in all. Two wander here of course.

I've yet to let my monster out since I'm conditioning him. 15 pounds of pure muscle and as deadly as they come. Owners at the old place just left him to die too.

What I cannot get my head around is this. Animals are just as important as we like to think we are. The human species (I prefer to think of it as a condition) destroys nearly all it touches, without fear qualm or any comeback what so ever.

*** Sadly any agency that purports itself as caring for animals over here does so on a green mile. In effect Animals have a time period in which to look cute enough to be taken in by new owners after which time they are killed.

Anyone dumping something that breathes air should be left fully accountable, charged and in the worst cases placed in a suitable container and shot into space. Disgraceful frankly but totally human and it will not stop. Either here or anywhere else in the world until...........

Well that may yet come.

Yeah, I say, if you kill 'em, grill 'em. Hmmm, I think I'll name this cute little kitten "Stirfry". :)

Actually, I like cats. I've got 15 to 20 of them around at any one time, all outdoor semi-feral felines. They keep the varmints away and I feed them twice a day. They cost less to feed than my kids did and actually do something productive. :)

If you ever get a chance to get this book, "101 Uses for a Dead Cat" by Simon Bond, get it. I found it in Waldenbooks at the mall about 25 years ago and kept it until my kids finally wore it out showing it to their friends. It is all cartoons with no words or caption, just drawing depicting different uses for dead cats and it is FUNNY AS HELL!!! When I first picked it up and glanced at some of the pages, I knew I had to have it.

To tell you the truth, I actually like the cat. But the problem is, I already had my own cat, now they're having a territory war.

I just think it's messed up that they're all of the sudden making these cats my responsibility. I don't like sending animals to the ASPCA personally, but I don't know what else to do. I didn't ask for these cats, and they live in my yard all day. I went from having 1 cat to having 5 in about a week.

I honestly don't think it'll be too hard for the cats to get adopted. They're all black cats, which adopt pretty well over here. But I can't f**king stand irresponsible people. Believe me, I'm going to have a nice talk with my neighbors.

All of mine were on death row. All cute little buggers too. Yeah I had the territory thing going on too, even in here when they are all together.

I got a dog once. Lovely thing, so loyal and all that. He hated Indian people and since Indian people lived everywhere walking him was a real problem much less stopping him from literally snarling his way to the store. In the end I found him a new home where he loved staying.

I think Rat nailed your problem really. Yeah its difficult keeping an eye out for problems, you know he'll die in there in any case. No one will take him. Have a look at petsmart or other pet stores sometime. There are millions of them. Dogs/Cats other animals no one wants any more because Christmas came and went this year.

Because I had no work for a period last year I called the local animal sanctuary to offer my time for FREE. In fact I called several times.

I got no reply. That sums it all up. Nuff Said.

I would craigslist them and give them away, the spca will kill them if nobody takes them, and I can't stomach that.

I actually have a cat named "Stirfry."

There are a buncha feral cats in my neighborhood. I found a whole litter of teensy little ones in my yard, & so I had to put them down. It's tough to do, 1st few times, but necessary. I've had feral cats come into my house, & they're a terror to try to get out again. I've had the ring finger on my left hand permanently damaged by one who bit it to the bone. I have no problem putting them down these days. It's just one of those unpleasant little chores a guy's gotta do...

I wouldn't even try to take them to the SPCA. They're too hard to catch, except by trapping, & they're too mean to give away, even when they're weeks old.

When MotherShip finally does come, yet she will hear yeah.
It will be us that is put down like a Dog because it is necessary because we are too mean to hand on like a garment that has done so much and smells of it too.

After all. Blood flows, waters swell and at high tide we all dwell in what we truly are.

man shredd, that IS wierd. It almost sounds like a warped form of entertainment - kind of like lighting the neighborhood dog on fire... not much you can do really w/o risking a neighborhood feud. But if you're planning on moving anytime soon, I'd make special arrangements for a going-away gift for your neighbors.

In the middle of the night when you get home from a gig take the kittens in their basket, drive about five miles away, and drop them off in somebody else's bushes....

When I was about 16 or so, I was driving through my hometown, Byhalia, MS, and was behind another pickup at the town 4-way stop. The truck in front of me opened his door, tossed something under the truck, and peeled out. What he had tossed was 3 little kittens and when he peeled out, he got one of them. I jumped out, grabbed the 2 survivors and took them to the nearest house. It was late and everybody was asleep, but they had a padded porch swing, so I put the 2 little kittys there. Then I picked up the dead one, got in my truck, and hauled a$$ down the highway he had taken. I was hoping to catch up with him so I could pass him and throw the smashed kitten through his window hopefully causing him to wreck. Well, I never did catch up to him, he must have turned off somewhere, but, if I HAD......

Oh, and every time I went through town after that, I would check out the house I had chosen for a foster home and, sure enough, they had taken the kittens in and raised them. I love a semi-happy ending. :? :?
