you know, this is amusing... I can't fault you for laughing vocals and bass. I don't hate ya at all.

This isn't really necessary since all you have to do is type to make yourself look stupid, but here it goes:

" 'I don't believe you know squat about music theory... i.e. your viewpoint on music is based on history alone and is not balanced by any sort of 'musical' understanding of the material you criticize... you could always prove me wrong and demonstrate your understanding... but I dought you could do that.'
-was I right or was I right... still haven't posted anything and I dought you have anything worth posting. "

- I asked you to start a discussion on any topic of your choice and apparently you cannot. I DOUBT you even know what you're talking about (you spelled it incorrectly again - fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me - have you heard that?).

" 'It isn't clear to me what the 'musical understanding' is that you're looking for.' -That is precisely my point. thank you for giving me one for free."

- It isn't clear to me because you're incapable of pinpointing exactly what it is that makes me seem uneducated in music theory. Again, you have nothing to say...

"I must have you in a corner allready if your ripping on my spelling at this point... is that the best you can do? Your really reaching on these aren't you."

- You have me backed into a corner because you can't spell? Seems illogical to me... Look at your spelling of 'already' above, and you misspelled 'doubt' again... You have nothing to say.

" 'sounds like you read this in a book and posted it up here thinking no one would call you on it. I am begining to wonder if you actually play an instrument... come to think of it... let me address the white elephant in the room... an architect who can't afford a basic sound card so he can make music on the computer??????????????????????????
you must be some architect.' -this one just was so good I am going to keep it attached and get some more mileage out of it."

It didn't get mileage the first time, genius. I'm still waiting for a good response to my reply - or do you have anything to say?

" 'Where did you originally learn about the 12 bar blues?' I am a graduate of MIT, it's a music shcool -it probably wouldn't interest you, they don't teach history or architecture.
'You're calling me out on referring to 'I, IV, V' as the 12 bar blues? And you're wondering if I play an instrument based on this?' Yes I am, cause you had no idea what a 1 4 5 was until I told you. -Another freebie... wow you really don't know anything about music do you?"

- You're right, that school doesn't interest me. Based on the level of education you've displayed I would stay far from that place. Did they teach English there by the way? Why would I refer to 'I,IV,V' as the 12 bar blues if I didn't know what you were talking about? You're not 'telling me' about anything, trust me. The only thing I can learn from you is that idiots really do graduate college (you're wondering how Bush made it through Yale?). Again, you have nothing to say...

" 'Then it's suddenly why can't I afford a basic sound card if I'm an architect?' Wow, to hear you say it just sounds so pathetic... say it again, please?"

- Are you implying that one is successful only if he/she makes a lot of money? I certainly wouldn't make fun of your financial situation... What happened to that 'class' you were talking about? Judging by your statement - yes, again, you have nothing intelligent to add.

" 'You're not doing very well and anyone with a brain can see that.
'-if your the only one in here there is definitely no one with a brain around."

- Am I speaking to a fifteen year-old?

" 'I'm not in a position to waste money on a 'sound card' right now.' -again a freebie, your right... it would be a waste for you."

- Have you heard me play or is that another unfounded 'low-blow'? You're such a child!

" 'You're able to share your audio with others and you still haven't gone anywhere - you must be some musician...'
-this is the only good one you have had... and it's a pretty good one. 2shay that's going on your greatest hits album... something has to fill it up right?"

- Or should I fill it up with uninspired, minute-long neo-funk trash?

"you have an audio file on your page. so easy to sit there and judge w/o posting the labor of your love... I guess that's why you didn't... so you could fire away at people -safe from the hail of laughter that would accompany the posting of your music... "

- I don't have an audio file on my page or are you saying things you don't mean again? And, again, you haven't heard me play so you don't know what my music sounds like. You should have heard my laughter during 'spooky'...

" 'As I have previously stated, I don't have the necessary equipment to record music to my computer nor do I have the money to buy it.' -if you hadn't alienated everyone on this site right away with your rude remarks, someone would have told your dumb @$$ that any computer with a sound card could be used to record you... but that's not really what you wanted anyway was it? What DID they teach you at architectural school cause it certainly wasn't 'how to think'. "

- That wasn't written for you... Have I alienated everyone? I believe I've only 'ripped' on certain morons. I don't have a way to record music on my computer - plain and simple. None of my friends have this ability either and I'm not prone to using people for things. So people go to Architecture school to 'learn how to think', huh? You're being vague and childish again...

" 'I don't know how hard it is to find a scanner in the UK but it's quite easy to upload pictures over here.' -wow, ripp on the uk, you are a two time winner... no class AND no intelligence."

How was that 'ripping' on the UK? Do you always speak in incoherent fragments when you're frustrated and out of ideas? You're delusional if you think you have any class (what happened to 'humility'?).

" 'And thank you for the compliment on my 'pretty, stripey shirt' - I'd thank him too, cause I thought for sure by now someone would have ripped on that french poodle you call a haircut."

- He 'complimented' my shirt, not my hair... I could easily ask why someone with the ability to upload music hasn't done the same with pictures. I think making fun of my hair pretty well shows that you're completely baron of ideas by now. What kind of 'artist' is that obsessed with image?

Let's talk when you've grown up and taken some aderol.

Sir discotheque, lol excellent , actually you are closer than you think with that jibe as i have made an album recently that incorporates a synth that sounds almost identical to Donna Summers 1977 I Feel Love track. It is a great source of amusement to me.
The main reason i got involved with this thread is your post on Bands And Albums with your unqualified remarks about Pink Floyd and The Wall album/film. You slightly provoked me with your comments. You are also right stripey is not a word but stripy is, i was close lol, dont be so pedantic it does nothing for your arguments. My spelling is crap coz i am busy at work and typing this quickly using the one finger method lol. Tiz all in good fun though, keep it up chaps.

was I right or was I right... still haven't posted anything and I dought you have anything worth posting. " -I am bad at spelling, is that what you spent your time in architecture school learning? Frankly I'm more concerned with the content of what I'm saying... you obviously aren't. If you had a brain you could look at your keyboard and see that the misspelling of that particular word is based on a slip of the fingers... see how the gh key is right on top of the b key? I didn't bother to correct you on that particular one because your so stupid you probably think you actually have a point... and that entertains me. You can't beat me with witt so this is the best you can throw at me?

"I asked you to start a discussion on any topic of your choice and apparently you cannot. I DOUBT you even know what you're talking about (you spelled it incorrectly again"
- thanks... you are almost as smart as a spell checker now.

"It isn't clear to me what the 'musical understanding' is that you're looking for.
- It isn't clear to me because you're incapable of pinpointing exactly what it is that makes me seem uneducated in music theory. Again, you have nothing to say..."
OK, like b4, I'll spell it out for you. You keep suggesting that I am simplifying the concetp of 12 bar blues by refering to it as a 1 4 5 progression... what you obviously haven't figured out is that a 12 bar blues progression is a subset of the 145 progression, dumb@$$. they aren't interchangeable... but I kept letting you state that because it amused me. ok, music 101 is over. I rest my case on that one. So in 2 minutes I managed to teach you what you couldn't pick up in 10yrs of playing guitar seth? Can't imagine what you accomplished with 4yrs of Arch school. Perhaps that's why you haven't found a job? Perhaps you haven't been marketing yourself correctly... you should use that hair as your portfolio. Clearly a marvel of modern technology.

"I must have you in a corner allready if your ripping on my spelling at this point... is that the best you can do? Your really reaching on these aren't you."

"Look at your spelling of 'already' above, and you misspelled 'doubt' again... You have nothing to say." -really, seems like the wind has gone out of yer sails. Your earlier posts had so much more zest. I'm losing interest. I thought you could do better than this. Guess your not very good at dishing it out of taking it in. For the record... the only reason I have been making you look like an idiot is that you have gone out of your way to belittle several people that have been nothing but king to you on here.... and I thought I'd give you a little taste of your own medicine.

" 'sounds like you read this in a book and posted it up here thinking no one would call you on it. I am begining to wonder if you actually play an instrument... come to think of it... let me address the white elephant in the room... an architect who can't afford a basic sound card so he can make music on the computer??????????????????????????
you must be some architect.' -this one just was so good I am going to keep it attached and get some more mileage out of it."
i set out to demonstrate your lack of musical understanding and what can I say... I'm an over - achiever.

"You're right, that school doesn't interest me. Based on the level of education you've displayed I would stay far from that place. Did they teach English there by the way?" No, if you had a brain you'd know that it is a private music school. da. They teach music and music only, knucklehead. It's a shcool you have to have talent to get into... but you wouldn't know anything about that. I went to college after that, and I didn't live in mummy and daddy's basement while I did it either. I worked 45 hrs a week as a cabinet maker to put myself though. Then I graduated and got a JOB and I AM ABLE TO BUY A MUSIC ROOM, WITH GUITARS EVERYWHERE, A $6000 FISH TANK, A NEW TV, PRETTY MUCH ANYTHING I WANT... BUT THEN I HAVE A REAL DEGREE. DID I MENTION THAT ONE OF THE GUYS I GRADUATED WITH HAD AN ARCHITECTURAL DEGREE AND WENT BACK TO SCHOOL BECAUSE IT DIDN'T PAY SH!#? BUT DON'T WORRY, SOMEDAY YOU'LL BY MOM AND DAD THAT DBL WIDE THEY'VE ALWAYS WANTED... EVEN IF IT MEANS FLIPPING BURGERS.

"Why would I refer to 'I,IV,V' as the 12 bar blues if I didn't know what you were talking about? You're not 'telling me' about anything, trust me. " Thanks for making this so easy. there you go again. proving you don't know anything about music. the terms are not interchangeable... but now you'll probably tell me I'm not telling you that either... won't you?

" 'Then it's suddenly why can't I afford a basic sound card if I'm an architect?' Wow, to hear you say it just sounds so pathetic... say it again, please?"

- Are you implying that one is successful only if he/she makes a lot of money? I certainly wouldn't make fun of your financial situation... What happened to that 'class' you were talking about? Your right. I apologize. that was mean. I'm still going to post it again, but that was mean.

"" 'I'm not in a position to waste money on a 'sound card' right now.' -again a freebie, your right... it would be a waste for you.
- Have you heard me play or is that another unfounded 'low-blow'? "
-ouch. That must have hurt you so (based on your response).

" 'You're able to share your audio with others and you still haven't gone anywhere - you must be some musician...'
-this is the only good one you have had... and it's a pretty good one. 2shay that's going on your greatest hits album... something has to fill it up right? - Or should I fill it up with uninspired, minute-long neo-funk trash?"
-I'm guessing that would be at least one step up from nothing.

"you have an audio file on your page. so easy to sit there and judge w/o posting the labor of your love... I guess that's why you didn't... so you could fire away at people -safe from the hail of laughter that would accompany the posting of your music...
- I don't have an audio file on my page or are you saying things you don't mean again? " wow, that was your quote idot. your making this too easy. I'm getting bored.

"That wasn't written for you... Have I alienated everyone? I believe I've only 'ripped' on certain morons. I don't have a way to record music on my computer - plain and simple. "
-wow are you stupid. did you even read the post? I guarantee you could do it... or no, I could, but you, you are a simpleton.

"None of my friends" -let me stop you there... I highly doubt you have ever had a friend.

"So people go to Architecture school to 'learn how to think', huh?" obviously you didn't learn that there so I'll agree.

I'll leave you with some advice I should have followed in arguing with you:
never argue with an idiot... they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

MrMikeV,
I love how you think you're ahead of me in this... How old are you again? I know for certain you're older than I am and you still have yet to comment on the things I've asked you in my last post. Use this time to reflect on your answers - most of your responses are very general, and aren't personal as they don't apply to me (they could apply to anyone you don't know). Here, I'll show you:

"I didn't bother to correct you on that particular one because your so stupid you probably think you actually have a point... and that entertains me. You can't beat me with witt so this is the best you can throw at me?"

- Sorry I hurt your feelings correcting your spelling. And I've already beat you with wit (one t).

"what you obviously haven't figured out is that a 12 bar blues progression is a subset of the 145 progression, dumb@$$. they aren't interchangeable... but I kept letting you state that because it amused me. ok, music 101 is over."

- 12 bar blues is the most used progression in Blues and Rock and Roll. You need music 101 if you think it started with Howlin' Wolf (which you stated). And what's with spelling ass as @$$? Are you afraid the moderator may delete your comment?

"So in 2 minutes I managed to teach you what you couldn't pick up in 10yrs of playing guitar seth? Can't imagine what you accomplished with 4yrs of Arch school. Perhaps that's why you haven't found a job? Perhaps you haven't been marketing yourself correctly... you should use that hair as your portfolio. Clearly a marvel of modern technology."

If I didn't know what I was talking about we wouldn't be having this conversation. You can't imagine what I've accomplished in Architecture school because you would have been weeded out within the first year (it takes both sides of the brain). And I'm not unemployed - I just haven't applied for any Architectural jobs. I haven't heard of anyone getting an Architectural job because of their hair cut. And what is a marvel of modern technology? Like I said before - you spit out generalized incoherent sentence fragments when you have nothing to say.

"Your earlier posts had so much more zest. I'm losing interest. I thought you could do better than this. Guess your not very good at dishing it out of taking it in. For the record... the only reason I have been making you look like an idiot is that you have gone out of your way to belittle several people that have been nothing but king to you on here.... and I thought I'd give you a little taste of your own medicine."

- My posts still have zest... it just isn't taking a whole lot to answer your moronic, generalized replies. I'm clearly doing well because you're so upset and over nothing, really. You haven't made me look like an idiot and what do you care what I say to other people? You shouldn't meddle in other people's affairs so much - is that why you record home alone and without a band?

"i set out to demonstrate your lack of musical understanding and what can I say... I'm an over - achiever."

- So I don't understand music because I went to Architecture school? You should really have your head checked because you think very illogically.

"No, if you had a brain you'd know that it is a private music school. EVEN IF IT MEANS FLIPPING BURGERS."

- How am I supposed to know that the school you went to is a music-only school? Do you know every school in the US? You have no idea if I'm a talented musician or not because you haven't heard me. You're trying to offend me with information you don't have - again, you're very illogical. You made yourself look like the typical selfish American asshole with your exclaiming in all-caps what glorious things you have. And I'll someday buy my parents the double wide they always wanted? Did my parents tell you they want a double wide? You see, your using information that only exists in your head to attempt witty responses (you sound like a 10 year-old, grow up!). And you should be ashamed of making fun of those who flip burgers for a living - what's wrong with that? Your 'delusions of grandeur' are surfacing again...

"Your right. I apologize. that was mean. I'm still going to post it again, but that was mean."

- You already sound like a shallow pseudo-artist whose only after money but thank you for the corroboration. And I wasn't looking for an apology but I'll accept it anyway. Don't apologize for your stupidity though, you can't help that.

"you have an audio file on your page. so easy to sit there and judge w/o posting the labor of your love"

- You said that was my quote? Read it again because I don't remember writing that...

"wow are you stupid. did you even read the post? I guarantee you could do it... or no, I could, but you, you are a simpleton. "

- Did you read my post? I don't have the ability to record music to my computer (for the millionth time). I hope you could do it, especially since you have a computer science degree and probably spend your great abundance of money adding to your PC.

"I highly doubt you have ever had a friend."

- Are you projecting into me a truth about yourself? You don't know me or my social history - stop using information you don't have, it makes you sound elementary. And thank you for finally spelling doubt correctly.

"I'll leave you with some advice I should have followed in arguing with you:
never argue with an idiot... they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience."

If I were an idiot I wouldn't still be ahead of you in terms of logical responses. Most of the things you say are completely cheap and unfounded. And don't try to come up with aphorisms because you're far from being wise. This exchange keeps going because you believe yourself to be some kind of oracle with your so called 'wit'. There isn't one thing you've said that's led me to question my knowledge or ability. I will keep responding to your not-so-idiosyncratic idiocy as long as you wish to display it. You were already talked in a circle in another thread and that's exactly what's happening here. I'm not impressed with you at all as a debater, nor as a musician. Judging by your work, the standards to get into that school must have been exceptionally low (or you're just no good at writing/arranging). I'm confused as to why your influences, many of them good, culminated into the garbage that is 'the labor of your love'. You say Architecture school is worthless though you probably wouldn't be accepted into it (I most certainly could make it into your music and computer science schools). It pays very well so I assume your friend just isn't a very good architect (another one of your cronies whom lack vision?). You claim to be knowledgeable in music history but were proven wrong (by me) in another thread. You claim to be versed in music theory but won't move on past the 'I,IV,V' progression (it goes a million times further than that). I've asked you twice to begin a debate on another subject but you've abstained from doing that as well (your first wise move). I hope you're happy with all your 'toys' because physical things will probably be all that you accumulate in your life. Your attitude toward life, and your apparent philosophy in general, will only hurt you after you've made it to whatever end and realize you had it all wrong. Have you anything left to say, genius?

Yes, I appologize. Frankly, I feel ashamed off all the nasty things I said to you, and I am sincerely sorry.
I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy going back and forth with you, but I realized long ago.... take a look at the people you don't like in life... chances are you are hating something about yourself and in them. With that in mind... please accept my sincere appology.
I was thinking today about my graduation... and how the three months afterward were difficult... I doughted myself(go ahead), wondered if things were going to be as easy as they seemed prior to graduation, and it was difficult. Last thing I want to do is pour more stress on someone in that situation. I'm sure you don't need me to tell you you'll find work soon enough... try to enjoy the time you have off in the meantime. I wish you nothing but the best. I am not going to post any more nasty remarks against you here, and this will be my lastt post on this subject... so if you need to go ahead and say I am bowing out.
For the record... It has always been a true belief of mine, that the ppul w/o musical inclination offer the truest of feedback on musical works... I am not taking a parting shot: whether you are musically inclinded or not... I respect your dislike of my little 'ditty' for what it's worth.
I am not being sarcastic. I only wanted to dig into you to hopefully disuade you from digging into others so harshly. I can't help that I feel empathy for musicians being told they suck. I'm sure as a musician yourself you know how difficult it is to put your music out there... without people bashing you for it. I beg that you will consider these volleys before posting to the nice people here on bandmix, and try to have some empathy for how you would make ppul feel. This site is a great resource and people might be less likely to post if they fear a backlash from the regulars here. I will post a pic in a minute and will post some more music too... feel free to take your best shots if you have any aggression left. Incidently, u may even have opened a new avenue for my creativity -perhaps I'll see if I can market it to the FBI. (who are you if you can't laugh right?)
hopefully when next we meet, we can be on better terms.

Well I am absolutely humbled by your last response - I truly didn't see that coming. I'm not some kind of shameless hate monger, though it may seem otherwise. In case our exchange has worried you I must say that you caused me no stress whatsoever - and I hope I caused you none as well. In fact, I think we both had just as much fun as the other in the preceding nonsense. I identify with musicians, and artists in general, so quarreling with them is the last thing I'd like to do. I'll admit I'm defensive and quite relentless when I feel like I have something to protect (but, really, nothing matters that much anyway). I was just as willing as you to resort to pointless 'low-blows' and I hereby retract my petty comments and responses. I accept your sincere apology and hope you will accept mine as well.

As you said to me, I wish you only the best in all your ventures, musical or otherwise. And I don't think your ditty is dreadful like I've let on - you'll agree we were taking cheap shots and that was mine. My music's been trashed in the past and though it didn't make me feel good it's helped me out in the long run (I'm not defending my malign words). I'll most certainly try to be less malevolent in my critiquing of other artists' work. We're not on bad terms as far as I'm concerned, Mike.

wow davis, I have to say i've underestimated you. You are a worthy advisary, and to do a 180 as easily as I did speaks volumes. I don't see anything wrong with negative comments on a musical piece... but I think it is admirable to acknowlege that we might benefit from softening their impact by delivering them in such a way that it isn't 'brutally honest'.
when I first joined the site, i may have 'bitch slapped' samick on my answer to his thirst for feedback from 'seasoned fingerpickers'... I stand fast that what I told him was 100 percent spot on, but I fear it was delivered in a way that probably did more to wound his pride than anything else... and I regret that. Sometimes it seems like you almost have to go outta your way to sound 'nice' on these forums... but I think it's worth it to try.

calling us gentlemen... now that's going too far samick... (HEHE)
all I have to say is... I know you(samick) and everyone else in here enjoyed the hell out of this thread... tell me I'm wrong? I wouldn't say innocent clean fun but look: nobody got hurt, and we're all no worse for the wear. As far as posting on other ppuls threads I def have made attempts to not come off so 'straight for the throat'... and do my best to offer both positive AND negative feedback whenever I listen to ppuls worx.
More importantly: are you clipping your nails yet? JK. ('ll try not to be offended that you won't take my advice. (hehe))
