I just got back from Flordia. I'm sorry to post this non-musical topic but five years ago when I visited my parents in Florida (about 80 miles north of Miami) there were birds everywhere. I mean all kinds of birds, egrets, cormorants, anhingas, moor-hens, doves, parakeets, mockingbirds, etc. etc. The first thing I noticed driving from the airport to my parents house this past week was almost a complete absence of wild birds. Sure there's a few here and there, but I would say easily 90% less than five years ago. Also I noticed much less flowers growing everywhere. I would say that Florida is in BIG TROUBLE from an ecological standpoint based on my very casual observation. Sorry for the bad news. The good news is my father is doing a little better. In a few weeks he might get to go home. He's a battler....

Glad to hear your father is doing well Bob.
Being I know you are an outdoors kinda guy the other news is a little disturbing.
I know that in my area, when the temps get in around the 100 degree mark,(as they have been all week) attempting to vew any wildlife is futile except early morning and at night.
This is a little different with birds, but somewhat true as well. I am beginning to see the fat doves of summer as they sun on the powerl ines.
We have at least three more months of searing heat in east Texas.
I pray for rain, wildfire is a real threat in a dry pineforest.

They're all moving inland as the sea rises due to global warming, cuz they know that Fla is gonna be underwater in another year or so...just ask Al Gore!

You know Phil, I heard a story today about how the EPA has burried a report conducted by one of their top researchers, whom also claimed that co2 has no effect on global warming, and the same researcher's report also pointed towards a global cooling trend. This most recent in depth study was not reported to congress at the request of the obama regime.
Strange how thats the same conclusion the NASA research came to with the solar pattern research done from the International Space Station.

It's the bees fault. No crops/Flowers pollinated = No standard bearing fawner to ward off waters tide with its roots, animals dens and all manner of things that go along with plant growth. These in turn create of course food for other animals such as the birds you miss.

I don't believe that there is something hidden because I know for a fact people are still killing animals for fun. So how do even these people take notice of such things when eyes are rooted to a gun barrel and a sight?

Get a bee hive. If you are lucky (These days) you might get good crops and all that comes with it. That often Maligned genius called Einstein pointed to bees.

Did you guy's here about how they are decideing which Chrystler Dealerships the government is forcing to close because Chrystler took bailout money. They are looking at them one by one and the ones that made Republican campaign donations are the ones being forced to close hmmmm! There is a video on youtube about it.

Get hold on yourself Chip. Us "killers" have more respect, spend more money for conservation, and know more about wildlife and nature than all the tree hugging city living fags you can muster.
If it were not for hunters dollars, and wildlife managment. there'd be no f*@kin trees left to hug.

You know chippy might have something there. Late at night on my way home from gigs I like to listen to Coast to Coast am and last year there was a guest on there that was talking about how the bee population is dwindleing and how something as simple as that could be the next apocalipse.

Every time I've gone to Fla Ive been amazed at how gawd-awful UGLY it is! Sorry, Fla-fans, but the beaches look terrible to me, & the palm trees are always torn up every time I go. It's just ugly.

I did see some nice yards & arboretums, but I see those nearly everywhere I travel.

And the SKEETERS! Ew! Nope. I'm not a big fan of Fla.

bob - that's some great news about your dad, man. Hope he keeps recovering.

Apparently bees won't go near cell phones or cell phone towers. If cell phones and the technology associated with it are killing off the bees we'll have no choice but to get rid of cell phones. Einstein predicted that if the bees die off we are all dead within ten years. I'd rather have some more bees around and less cell phones. I agree that hunters are the original conservationists. Hunters have contributed far more in terms of dollars and shear hard work to conservation efforts than all tree huggers and PITA representatives combined. The massive amount of dollars collected via hunting licenses and taxes on hunting supplies has contributed far more than all other groups combined. We sit in our air conditioned splendor here in the beautiful United States of America because many millions of years ago some enterprising homo sapiens (that's people) got the idea of catching and eating animals. Think how lucky we all are to be able to eat and digest such a huge diversity of animals and plants found from the bottom of the deepest ocean to the top of the tallest mountains. If it wasn't for some enterprising hunter-gatherers we'd all be sitting in some sand pit in Africa without a hint of civilization. Thank God for the earliest hunters of the world. They led us to the ends of the Earth...
