Tis a bit embarrasing but I pulled a muscle trying to get out of my damn tent while we camped at the lake. Was about 2am and I was barely awake.
Got hung up at the screen door trying to take a leak.
I spent so many years staying in top physical condition. With the shoulder tears and the band, well I have really let myself go. :(
I am feeling better today, Even did some heavy lifting at the Hospital today & kept an older gent from falling in the floor. So all is good.

I talked to that guy with the plate in his head.

It's a little disconcerting when the guy you're about to audition starts telling you the chords he knows - "I know G, A, D, & C. I don't play too many minor chords. I've played some Zepplin in the past..."

Figgers. Frikken bluegrasser! He's been buggin' me for years to get together & do stuff with him, but I always blew him off cuz he's just so strange...

I'm hoping it's a goof. I've heard him do his bluegrass & he's really quite good at it, but I think I might intimidate him a little. (I dunno why. I ain't all that!)

The thing that bugs me the most, I think, besides the above, is that he always introduces me as "the guy that wrote a song about his d*ck." (Sometimes I wish I'd never written that damned song!) He always hangs out at the local "CNN" (that's the "Country News Network," or the local grocery store where the 'billies hang out at & gossip) so I see him often & he introduces me a LOT!

I think I might be needin' a change of scenery soon. I need to go somewhere no one knows me, get away from the wife & the weirdos, & start playing again, & it doesn't look like the band is gonna be doing anything anytime soon.

Anybody need a bit of a nutso bass player? Got a room?

I'd laugh my butt off, but it sounds like your a bit down about all this.
Sometimes a change of venue is the only way to get a change in life.

He's just harmless and impressed that you can write about subject matter that he wouldn't normally be able to comprehend.

The next time he intros you like that, say "Tom Thumb is just jealous".

Oh, just laugh, sans...that's about all I can do, & it IS kinda funny, isn't it?

I should write a new soap opera about WV'ians & musicians. It'd be funny as hell!

You are right, getting the right combination together is like pulling teeth. I will say I think the most important element is a competent singer who can get people moving.

Some friends of mine started another group and decided they would sing the songs. I went to one of their rehearsals and they asked me what I thought. I said I think you need a singer/frontman. They got a little mad at me for suggesting that, but it was the truth.

Good Luck Colors on your group, just get ready cause every time I get a line up set something weird comes along to tear it apart.

Yeah, we have the singer covered. We have a female who is related to June Carter. Her and her sister really have some pipes. Good genetics.

Our problem has been a bass player. We said goodbye to the guy we had for the month of June because he didn't fit well with our band (lots of reasons, but that's the PC version and I don't like to burn bridges). We got a guy back into the band that we had in Nov/Dec - best bassist we've had so far - and now he's already going to have to bail on us because he got a new job and they're putting him on weekend swing shift. Arg.

Anyway, we've got another guy we're going to try out real soon. I hope he does the job and sticks, because we're getting really tired of not playing out. In fact, my vocalist and I did an acoustic set at an open mike night a few weeks back because we just wanted to play out somewhere.

Gotta pay your bass player well, that way he is always on time and ready to play WITH a smile, not a groan/frown.

Back on topic, glad you're feeling better Sans, I hate a pulled muscle or a cramp.

Erm, yeh, I suppose I was just kidding around. Still would like to meet up in Roanoke for a get-together jam one day. Paul's about 30 miles from me.

A good working attitude and ethic are great, but the money is a great motivator!!
