It's a good sound - just as it is; you should probably capitalize on it.

I do mostly jazzy stuff, - and some rock, some blues, some folk, some classical stuff . . .
But I do at least 50% jazz, or songs with a jazzy 'feel.'.
. . . maybe 20% folk . . .

I actually got contacted by a guy in my area who does the same type of stuff I do...so it's looking brighter.

I've listened to your songs...you're right..musically, we have a different style....I love you jazz stuff...but I've never gotten into the habit of writing in that fashion. But, there is always the prospect of sharing the stage...giving the audience a taste of what we both have to offer....(as I look into the future)....

As far as getting on stage - no time like the present, my friend.
Maybe that guy will work out.
But tell him (right up front) that you will be performing all your originals, and you're looking for someone to help you.
It could save you a world of aggravation a month or 3 from now.
You don't want to accept someone just because they want to work with you . . .
. . . be chosey . . .
And - do you want to work with a man or a woman?
Is 18 too young? Is 60 too old? Set your sites on what you want.

There's another thing to consider.
You may find that you prefer working alone.
So - seriously consider it.
It's more work - but you'll also get paid twice as much . . .

You may have to expand your car-driving range a few miles to find others; but get in as much face-to-face contacts with real musicians as you can.

Open mikes are a good place to hand out cards.
You might not find anyone good enough there, but - make friends.
Give 2 cards to everyone.

If your cards wind up in the hands of 150 musicians, you'll find someone.
Give cards to at least 5 new singers/musicians every week. And leave them in music stores . . . along with a free CD to the owner of the store . . .

Also you might ask music instructors if they have anyone qualified . . .
It might take a while, so the sooner you start . . .

Very good ideas...I will get on that asap...I haven't looked for any open mic places around here; I'm sure there are some in close proximity as long as they aren't in Detroit...I'm scared of Detroit...LOL
