Trying out another guitarist this Sat. Hope he works out better than that last guy (ugh!) but I refuse to get my hopes up in spite of the fact that he's supposed to be a rockabilly player...

If he can do "Rockabilly" well, he should be able to handle a wide range of styles. Most rockabilly players I've seen are really committed to musical excellence. Good luck, man. :)

Philby, I wish you luck.

I bet when you find the right guy, he'll be amazed as he has competent support instead of half-assed support, like the rest of us. LOL

Yep. Good luck dude.

After almost a year and a half, I think our band has finally settled on our four members. What a long, arduous and (sometimes) frustrating ride it's been.

I swear, putting a band together is more difficult than finding a spouse. At least when you're dating and spouse-hunting, you only have to find ONE person you're compatible with. But when you're in a band, you have to find several people who are compatible.

And it seems like the thing we've experienced most frequently - and I've talked to some other local area musicians who say the same thing - is just a sheer lack of unpreparedness. We keep finding people who just cannot or will not (or are too lazy) to learn the material. I don't know why that is. I don't know why some people just will not devote themselves to their craft.

Winging it is not recipe for a successful career as a musician.

Colors there are different levels of winging it.

You are right, getting the right combination together is like pulling teeth. I will say I think the most important element is a competent singer who can get people moving.

Some friends of mine started another group and decided they would sing the songs. I went to one of their rehearsals and they asked me what I thought. I said I think you need a singer/frontman. They got a little mad at me for suggesting that, but it was the truth.

Good Luck Colors on your group, just get ready cause every time I get a line up set something weird comes along to tear it apart.

I hope the best for ya Phil. I agree totally with colors and JW. Ive been married to the same gal 32 yrs. Putting a band together has taken longer and have yet to put the project together completely. Were getting real close now as weve decided to stay with 5 pcs. But man its like having 4 wifes who nag, nag, nag And make you want to strangle them!!!

And its another day in Paradise !!!!

Hay sans! What happened to your back, man? Hope it gets better soonly. Sometimes its best not to try to lift the groupies...

I'm gettin' jittery, here...just an hour before I get to play again, & this guy supposedly knows & has played much of our material.

Mantra of the day - "I will NOT get my hopes up...I will NOT get my hopes up...I will NOT get my hopes up..."

Good luck Phil, I hope this one works out.

George, that sucks, my back was hurting bad last week, pulled a muscle I think. It's all better now but I know quite well how it feels, mine's been messed up since some dumbass decided it would be fun to push the little kid (me) off the slide in 1964 when I was 9. Been a mess ever since so I do know quite well how it feels...and it really really sucks, hope you get feeling better real soon.

Alright phil!, I know how you feel I've been trying for 2 years now to create this blues band with some of the same problems. Its hard to find people who are dedicated. BUT! I think I finally found the right 3 to help me in my quest for blueshood. I don't want to be credicle in any way but try a different matra. Like I know I can I know I can I know I can. I know you were probably just being sarcastic. Like your sound Phil keep up the good work and good luck. Ray

Well, he was okay...we have 3 more guys I wanna audition before I make any decision. We told him we'd be calling him soon, & I'll make sure we do, even if it's with a "no thanks."

I wonder if he was okay just cuz he was after the train wreck the last guy hit us with...

Next up is the guy with the plate in his head. I know 'im a little bit, & he's quite a character.

One of these guys just hasta fit in or I'm gonna start looking for another band! I'm gettin' antsy, ppl! Wanna PLAY!!!! Tired of WAITIN'!!! Feelin' a lil FRUSTRATED, here!!!! I'm gonna 'splode, soon...
