That is what I really liked about her voice. It is husky and kinda raw which makes her unique and very interesting.
You should check out Edith Piaf La Foule ~ I actually recently started listening to her after I watched the movie My Summer of Love. That song was featured, as soon as I heard it I loved it and couldn't wait to find out who sang it. I honestly don't know what it is about, but it makes me want to get up and go. There are several others of hers that I like too!! :)

HA, Edith Piaf is a FIXTURE in our household. My wife is Polish (born and raised in Warsaw) and her mother just adores Edith Piaf so much that she gave Patricja (my wife) Edith's name for her middle name. The lady sure created a signature sound and it's quite beautiful. Odd, I never heard her songs in the street music in Paris the few times I've visited there....

Yes, this is a wonderful forum to share and be exposed to all sorts of music!! :)

Irminsul that is awesome. I am a newbie with Edith Piaf, but I think she is incredibly talented and quite honestly without translation, although it is sad because I did take 4 years of French in High School...lol. She takes me back to simpler times. Kinda reminds me of maybe the 20s. I dunno, I just transcend to the feeling of another era. Of course, I would have to take my laptop with me. LOL!

Middle name after her... that is love!! A true fan! :)

My kids really like Edith too. My daughter who is 8, said can we listen to that girl that has the rrrrr when she sings!! LOL!

I had Timeless, a tribute to Hank Williams Sr in my car and both my kids were singing Lovesick Blues. I was so proud! :) I try to expose them to so many different genres and some they like, some they don't, but at least they have the exposure. Sheryl Crow did Long Gone Lonesome Blues and my daughter kept asking to hear it.

Yeah I am off the subject now and rambling. Have a good night!

yea, if celine is in ya might as well throw down mariah too. both fenominal technical singers... but I'd wrather scoop my brains out through my ears with a rusty spoon than listen to either one of them! hehe
that's great that m has 13octaves or whatever... but the top 5 sound like a dang ol dog whistle!
seriously tho, both are PRO.
