Yes the changing / playing of the actual instruments plus Pauls voical talent is what makes the show for me as a fellow musician.
Too much "technology" would kill the show. The modern rendition of the one man band idea is the deal. Anyone can turn on a radio.

I wouldnt judge Pauls show on a youtube video, you need to see him live!

So how the heck does this thing keep in time? It must be echo related or something right? How does it modulate over a period of time? Have you found a time that it failed on you or that it was slightly out for whatever reason?

I ask because IF EVER I get out there my setup will not be too dissimilar to yours but using computers (if I cannot find ALL of the right people). I'll find some.

If something went wrong on me I suppose I'd turn to my kit which is where I can ad lib the best, perhaps some vocals, not sure really?

I had to turn up when I jammed with Jimmy Danger. A couple of times when we were jamming to a loop I started I just stopped playing and was listening with my mouth open

First I step on it to record a digital phrase. Drums in the case of the "Always on the run" video. When I step on it again it starts over where it started recording. Then it continues playing that phrase until I stop it. When you hit the play/record/overdub button again it will overdub another layer of one two or three parts etc etc at a time. There is more to it than that but that is the short version. The jamman has glitched on me about 6 times since I've owned it. It cut a phrase short on me. I think it MIGHT have been my fault. The old Boss RC-20 never glitched in 6 years. Both loopers have strengths and weaknesses.

Thanks for the support. Live looping is SO MUCH FUN! I love performing live and watching people trip. I also love looping by myself. I will play for hours and hours straight.

So in essence then its all completely live in every verse/chorus and you can change tempo on the fly?

yep it's completely live. What you record is what loops. Tempo can be changed after you "write" on the boss. I think you can change the tempo on the digitech just by tapping the pedal. I don't use that function. I have used the boss that way when I sang for a band with no other vocalists. I sang lead on a chorus then stopped the loop at the end. then when the chorus came around again I sang the 2nd harmony. again on the 3rd chorus I sang a third. All live. Loopers are really useful tools.

He's ok. If you'll notice that song is 7:29 That is one of the differences between me and other looping artists. I get in and get aut asap. Trying to sound as much like a full band with a regular song format as possible. And he never sang. Most looping artists can't sing. If they can sing they can't play.
Most looping artiasts loop a guitar choird progression clean, switch to distortion and solo for 6 or more minutes. Boring.

Well obviously I don't feel the competition since I posted the other peeps vids. It's just my take on other looping artists. those are the things I told the judges at Americas got talent too. It's hard not to compare myself with other looping artists since it's such a specific field. I gave that guy you posted up a compliment comment on his vid. But it did take him a long time to build it and "get somewhere" with it.

You're too kind Bob. I'm working towards that goal. I've always wanted to play Saturday Night Live! You know I have family in Kansas City. I plan to drive out with all my gear and play there when possible. Hope to shake your hand then bro! Maybe you can take me to your special secret fishing hole where they're always biting!!

Don't forget to message me before you visit. I don't really have any secret fishing spots. I fish the Kansas State fishing lakes mainly. Some days are great, some aren't. I usually catch something. Most of the places I fish are at least a half hour ride from the K.C. area. They're beautiful spots out in the country. Hopefully when you visit we could go to a blues jam, or better yet my band will be gigging someplace, after we work in our current guitar player. The music scene here is pretty dead right now. Maybe you could book yourself a gig in K.C. Maybe my band could open for you. That would be really cool.
