Chestnuts sprout lots of larvae.. falling out of the cupboard on to the stove.. someone gave them to me at work around Christmas one year..
I guess that's why you need to roast them 'round an open fire..

I've had the obligatory chocolate-covered ants, bees, grasshoppers & caterpillars. I definitely do NOT recommend the caterpillars.

Cpl weeks ago my wife had a carpenter ant crawl into her soda can. She took a sip & it got caught, & was sorta hanging onto & biting her uvula. She had to take it out with tweezers.

I watch Andrew Zimmern eat bugs & grubs & worms & stuff all the time. I think I'm gonna try the June bugs cuz they sounded so tasty, & we have lots of 'em around here.

Some restaurant was serving steamed cicadas in rice a few years ago. Ppl said they were almost like soft shell crabs.

I could try cooked big bugs. When I lived in Denver I lived next to a field full of big juicy grasshoppers. I often thought of catching a half pound or so with a net and wokking them up with soy sauce then putting them on a salad. Never got around to it.

It was the surprise and the empty exoskeletons that got to me the most.
