I have been sick all weak. No I didn't have the Swine Flu. No fever but it was a voice killer. I sing lead on about 60% of the vocals. I also sing the harmonies and the drummer and bass player sing the rest. For the first time in 30 years I could not sing a note it was all I can do to talk. I did manage to struggle thru some of the harmonies and kind of keep the other 2 guy's on track for singing my parts. It really caused a very relaxed atmosphere on stage that surprised me. Man we really kicked some arse last night to a packed house. It was a very young mixed race audience and I was very surprised buy how much they loved our CLASSIC ROCK. I play "Do You Feel Like We Do" buy Frampton note for note talk box and all. and that really brings down the house. I guess you could say we took lemons and made margarita's LOL.

Well I finally let Dwayne the drummer know I am winding down the band. It was a very tough phone call for me to make. I just could not see leading him on when he could be looking for another band. I just told him (a very nice guy) the only reason I have even considered continueing this band is because I didn't want to let him down and then I told him at some point I have to start thinking of me and my family I mean this thing is causing my ulcers to get worse. I have finally got the P.A. I have always dreamed of and now I am not going to have a band. I know this is just a temporary thing. I will find a band to play with I have a good reputation and a P.A. and contacts. I just need to find the right people that want to do the same thing as me.
On a little more serious note my mom is in the hospital tonight because of chest pains. They x-rayed her chest and found a mass on her right lung I am trying not to freak out but it is hard she is 75 years old. the Dr. is going to run a scope down her lung in the morning and find out just what that mass is.

What's to follow may sound weird, as we don't know each other, but I'm new here...been reading...and I just had to post :)

As far as the gig, great to hear you turned a potential downer into something great.

Sorry for your buddy...maybe this'll be his chance to move onto something better as well.

Rough news for your Mom and you to get. Hope all goes well.

Hello Jim and welcome to bandmix. To bad you live so far away. Sounds like your into the same styles of music as me. You might want to consider putting some recordings of you singing up on your site here at bandmix. It lets people know you are serious. It doesn't have to be anything fancy just examples of what you are capable of. Thanks for the nice things you said. You will find a wealth of advise on this forum if you have any questions about anything music related you can get a lot of info on here. Good luck to you bro.

Haley, Im sorry about your mom. I will be thinking of you there, my mom went thru that a couple of years ago and had the lump removed and is clear so far, so hopefully you will have a similiar outcome.

As far as the music its only rock n roll and will work itself out over time, sounds like you just need a little vacation. Im 2 yrs back into playing. Im feeling the same thing, for awhile we were playing different places or new venues now we are coming back around and it just feels samo samo. We are getting together at my house sat night and talk about our band, where we are, where we want to go. I think its good to do that every 6 monthes or so and make sure everyone is pointed in the right direction, excuse me not the right direction, but the same direction.

Best of luck with your mom, JH.

Seems like there's a lot of stuff going on for many of us in here, health-wise - your mom, bob's dad, my grandson, etc etc etc.

I sure hope things work out for us all.

Take that break you need, & you'll come back stronger. Hope your drummer understands, & that the 2 of you can get things going, again.

I know my mother is 86 and she just had a similar thing. (I don't even want to think about it)
After they probed her, they recommended surgery and quickly.

She's on her 3rd massive operation and I think she's going to opt out of this last one. She told me that at 86, it's not a priority.

I have mixed feelings about it, but I can relate. I mean if I was 86, I could be riddled with this or that and I wouldn't bother to do much about it, as the rehab is tough and one has to consider quality of life. (don't even consider opening my ribcage unless you want some of the same)

Besides she was in so much pain after the first 2, I really doubt that anything could make her go through another.

You'd think she was going to rest and re-coop. And you'd be wrong as she is getting ready to do a tour of Europe. I told her if she needed a baggage handler that was related to let me know..I work cheaply, sometimes for nothing. LOL (except for a quickie ticket to Bern)

Sorry to hear about your Mom Haley.
I lost mine in Feb 2 years ago and there is no replacing your Mom, ever period. My next door neighbour is suffering too (77) so I do what I can for her, but my growing old just ain't fun and you can understand people in later years when they say "Not this time" can't you.

Wishing you and your Mom all the best Haley.

Chippy
