Ok ya,ll.
Heres you chance to kick my arse. (some more)
On my profile I have the previous recording of My Sweet and the one made last night labled MYSWEET-2

Let me know what you think. Far from perfect I know but perhaps with your input I can make the next recording even cleaner.

Ok I am, ready! (ducking into fresh dug foxhole)

Listened to both and to tell you the truth the 1st one is better. Sweet NR 2 has a tempo problem, from start of song to end ya must have up it at least 5 clicks. I am not gonna go into the mix because you already know it needs work. If anyone in your band plays keyboard, put some strings in it. On the first one the clean guitar and distorted sounded pretty good but the dynamics were weak. You got the dynamics going on the 2nd version but I think the distorted rhythm is just wrong. If it wasn’t for the lyrics the song would loose interest in about a minute. For my taste I would use a ballad drum beat and not a straight 4/4. At 3:24 a slamming’ guitar would build up the dynamics more and really peak out what is being said. There’s more but let’s see what others chime in. What no bridge?

I wish I could write lyrics like this.

I agree, the first one was better. The second one was good too. But i think edit it a little and it will be as good as the first.

Sans; I listened to "My Sweet 2."
I think I'd change the half-distorted tone of the guitar.
.
This particular song seems to ask for a clean guitar sound.
If you like a clean sound, then make it really, really clean.
.
If you don't want to go for a clean guitar sound; I'd suggest a clearer-sounding distortion, if you know what I mean . . .
.

Thanks for the input folks.
Yes we were off a bit for sure, and it showed in everything we played last night. We really had not played together since the show we did prior to Ray's crash. He still hurts internally when he sings.

Clean guitar you say? Humm, would that be on the main rythem guitar Ray is playing, or the Lead / accent guitar I was playing or Both?
(could you even hear my part?)
Strings is a good idea, had one of my sons working on violin backing for this one, but alas he is 14 years old, and he seemed to loose interest in it as a project pretty fast.

I am open to any / all sugestions.

Thanks for your time my friends.

PS: Those lyrics you liked were written as a poem by our Bassest, Eric Davis. Probably some 25 to 30 years ago. :D

Very brave Sans!
Your voice isn't that bad at all. Was that you singing along?

HaHaHa!!! OH HELL NO!!
The boys throw stuff at me if I even walk past the mic.
Tony Addie does the backing vocals, Eric does some accent vocals.
The drummer and I have been banned from singing within ten foot of a mic.

Thanks for this Sans, it's been such a stressful week and we are not even finished yet.

This made me really laugh. Thanks for that. :-D

Your welcome Chippy.

I have had a stressfull week myself.
Still looking for that job that will allow me to pay my bills, be a dad, husband, and guitar player.
Walked into the bank today with $150.00 worth of pennies.
I felt like such a dork!

This to shall pass.

You too huh?
Yeah I do that too. Yes you do feel a dork but you know what mate? Your real. You breath air just like anyone else, you have a goal just like anyone else.

Don't put yourself down just because times are hard and they are.

Times will get better (People and places allowing). I'm sure you'll flourish once more when that tide that is upon us subsides.

Besides pennies are good tender. :D

SANS, PERFORMANCES MATCH, BOTH GOOD BUT,,,,,

SECOND VESION, Guitar wasnt distorted as much as it was out of TUNE.

Recording great rythm tracks, playing full chords is a trick in itself.

Tuning a guitar to sing is an art in itself. Each guitar is different. My old paul and me have a truce going on,,, stay in tune or else!!!

I can sing in a rock band without monitors,,as long as the harmonics are lined up I know where I need to BE.... IF they are off because of an poorly tuned guitar, forget it. DRUMS,,YES DRUMS,, THEY NEED TO BE TUNED ALSO, AT LEAST TO PLAY IN A BAND SITUATION.TUNING IS VITAL,CRUCIAL.!

SANS, Should we start thread about TUNING? I used to tune pianos[whole nother story] I could spend hours about guit techs, tuning techniques,WHY YOUR KORG TUNER IS NOT SUCH A BLESSING,ETC ETC.

Last song I posted I was complaining about 2 week old strings,,I was actually trying to pull every thing into tune, strings wear and change very quickly.

Any way , SANS , recoding anything is unforgiving,I just think the guit came across slightly DESAFINADO. I think thats why we all like #1.

PS,,A LITTLE SHARP,, 1 CENT OR TWO,, ALWAYS SOUNDS BETTER THAN A LITTLE FLAT. IT'S THAT HUMAN EAR THING.

Point taken and understood.

One question though.
And this is going to sound kinda dumb but.

I have heard this track so many times, to you ear which guitar is the offender?
Or is it both?

SANS , ITS THE MAIN RYTHM TRACK ,THE G STRING IS THROWING THE WHOLE RECORDING OFF.....NOTHING IS WORSE THAN MIXING DOWN A TRACK AND FINDING A FLAW THAT STARTS TO SOUND WORSE AND WORSE EVERY TIME YOU HEAR IT     BEEN THERE AND IT REALLY ISNT FUNNY.

PLAYING LIVE,RECORDING PLAYIG LIVE, AND RECORDING FOR FINISHED PRODUCT ARE ALL DIFFERENT. GO DO IT AGAIN,,,,JUST TRIPLE CHECK YOUR TUNING... NOW LET ME GO START A THREAD ON TUNING GUITARS.
