Today we had someone do some band photos. Went to some spots here around town. But for some reason I just couldn't get into it.. I don't know.. I just didn't feel like doing it for some reason. There were a couple of times when someone asked me if I was ok.. I just.. I don't know??

I'm not having any problems with any of our band members or anything. I was just uninspired, wanted to get it over with. The guys did manage to get some smiles and laughs out of me at times, but I really just wasn't into it at all.

Anyone else ever have that problem??

Yeah, my last photo shoot, I couldn't really get into it either. Holding the ID number up in front of me, didn't smile. I don't know if it was the orange jumpsuit or that my fingers were still smudged black from the fingerprinting. If you want to check out the pics, just go down to your local post office.

I remember doing that too and feeling weird about it. It's needed of course because your fans will want to know all about you and see what you look like without an instrument clapped about your person.

The last time I was up for this we got conned by the guy taking them. Life is long, lessons are learned.

So. When you posting them on your website?

Man thats just too easy for an old psych nurse brother.
You will have to try harder than that.

You are a musician, worse, you are a guitar player.
Your passion is making music.
Photo's of your playing is a physical reaffermation of your making music.
Photos for the sake of photos, has a disconnect from the act of making music for you mentally.
Your a guitar player, not a model.

It is no surprise that this was distastefull to you.
It's like aw crap can we just get this over with and get back to music.

Are you kidding? My wife is professional photographer. I'm always turning around to a lense staring back at me.

Photos aren't something one gets inspired to be the recipient of. It's a lot of hard work - ask a model. They might look happy, warm and comfortable, but reality is they've been on set all day, posing in unnatural settings and positions, under-dressed in cold weather, overdressed in hot weather.... yeah, most poses are un-natural.

Just bring your guitar and go about your day as if the photographer isn't there. Then when s/he says pose this way, shut up and do it. It'll be over soon enuff

I dont know Im a lense hound, I just turn on when the pictures start, it doesnt matter whether its related to music or not


now sometimes when all our bands groupies want attention I have problems cant get into it and want to be somewhere else for some reason.............

Years ago I was in the Outhouse Blues Band. In 1993 we had flooding all over the K.C. area. One of the band members knew where an old outhouse was located. We did a photo shoot next to the outhouse and behind us was a dilapidated house that was flooded. It was the coolest band photo I've ever seen. I wish I still had that photo.

In all honesty, I think it was maybe more like what Sans said.. But a little different. I just wasn't in the mood for it, plus I'm not good with planned pictures. Usually I have an unnatural look on my face. Every once in a while I'll take a good one. But when someone says "smile" and then waits for a few seconds, it ain't happening. For the most part, I don't think people should be made to smile for Band Pics anyway.

JW, I don't think it had anything to do with last weekend to be honest. Maybe if I was taking pics with the other artists I would say there's a point there. But it was a Haleamano shoot. Iz, Burt, and Chris were having a blast doing it. Me and Ryan seemed to be stiff and uncomfortable. I think it was more of a personality thing mixed with the "modeling" aspect of it Like Chris4Blues suggested.

I would be a horrible model, and an even worse actor. But put a guitar in my hands and show me the stage and I'm a totally different person. I'm all about it. That's more my element. I don't pay attention to cameras at all when I'm playing.

BINGO !! Somebody give that Nurse a beer!
