Sarina, You look just like Amy Lee, I know cause my daughter has her pictures everywhere. If you look like that and can kick ass on guitar you shouldnt have any trouble getting something started. Good Luck and post up some music of you jamming. Ive been wanting to hear a kickass female with looks play guitar. I havent seen anyone like that since Lita Ford!

You wanna get better at guitar? OK

Go to some open mic nights, step up and p lay and try to keep up with the band. I like to tell them to play whatever they want to and I have to keep up.

I played fill in gigs for 3 years, different band every weekend or two, never knew what they would play, what key or how they would play it. I'd just tell them to give me the key and don't throw anything with a lot of oddball chord changes at me.

Also, find and jam with anyone in your area who is a better player than you. You WILL learn something, even if it's just to keep your mouth shut, and it will keep you on your toes and make you work for it.

Anything that makes you work for it or puts you under pressure will make you a better player.

Reading all that theory makes me glad I play by ear.
If had to study all that before I played guitar - I wouldn't be playing guitar now.
My experience is that it's about 50/50 for those who play by ear, and those who studied.
My experience is that - while they may play different songs, both types of musicians play equally well.

I'm still learning, but the thing that helped me the most was getting familiar with root notes of chords (your index finger),it makes it easier to learn tunes and get used to working some leads.
