ok cool i get what you're saying i'll rewrite the second part. i'm new to the whole lyrics thing so...yeah
Lyric writing is, in my opinion, not easy. At least not easy to write good lyrics.
When I feel like writing lyrics, or I need to write lyrics for something, I like to listen to what I consider some of the best lyricists and draw inspiration from them. As musicians, we are influenced, either consciously or subconsciously, by what we listen to. If we're listening to mediocre lyrics all the time, that's what we'll write. If we listen to artists who tell stories, that's what we'll write. If we listen to lyrics that are introspective, that's what we'll write.
So knowing that you're going to be influenced by what you hear, you have to make conscious choices about what you're listening to with the full knowledge that it will influence your own writing in some way, however minute.
When it comes to great lyrics, I like to break out some stuff I consider "the best":
Rush (Neal Pert is possibly the best lyricist ever)
Enchant
U2
Peter Gabriel
There's a good mix of introspection, storytelling and abstract lyrics among that bunch.
If you've never heard it, for instance, check out the metaphorical "The Trees" by Rush.
