I totally believe in personal evolution.
I did not want to give up fighting, but I had to face certain physical realities. Does that mean I just turn my back on the Martial Arts?

I believe in the music that I provide for the artists that I record with. As far as my own music, that's another story. I don't know what it is, but I can run circles around many players when playing over another artists music. I hit a wall when trying to compose my own though. I joke with my artists, telling them that I will give them the best performance that fits in the pocket of their music, but don't ask me to solo because it will be dead quiet.

I've made the decision to hook up with a local music academy to take some lessons to improve my improv skills and brush up on my jazz playing. All that I need now is the money to pay for it! I think that will help me out of this funk that I've been in. I love writing music, and I am all about being creative in other people's music... I guess the lack of confidence discussed in this thread hits us all. It is what it is, and we are who we are. We're musicians, and we're meant to create life on the staff paper where there is only empty space between the 5 bars. If there comes a time that I can't create, I'll pack it up.
