All in all though, I am very satisfied with the amp. It was labelled as B-stock, and the box was really beat up. The amp was in perfect condition when it arrived though, as with most B-stock that I've purchased in the past. It's full solid state, 220 watts. I prefer full SS; you can't tell the difference on a recording, so why not save the money, right?!?! It weighs about 80 lbs -- the thing is a BEAST to carry, but it came with removable casters. That was a very welcome sight in the box to make this heavy thing easier to transport. It sounds amazing! I wish that it was a little bit louder, but the amp has an XLR out. If it isn't loud enough at a show, I can hook up right into the PA.
That's my beef with Ampeg in general: VOLUME. The tone is 2nd to none, but the output leaves something to be desired. Even with the higher wattage heads/stacks, the volume per wattage seems to be less than other brands like Hartke, Carvin, or G-K (I've owned these brands in the past). I had an Ampeg B-2R head about 5-6 yrs ago, and I had the same issue -- the power rating was fine, but the output seemed really low for the wattage... Anyway, I'm off my soapbox now, and I am happy with the amp overall.
