I skimmed through the website -- seems like it is a source of useful information. If information is power, than I want all the info that I can get to have more power over where I go with my music.

Thanks guys. Maybe I went off the deep end with the troll comment too. That was out of anger from being attacked by giongi2 without cause

I guess can understand though if you guys have had a lot of spammers here as that would piss me off too.

My hopes are that giongi2 does take your suggestions and go back to see my site and see that giongi2 may have jumped the gun without all the facts. Whether giongi2 likes my music or not is not a concern as that is subjective I know.

I think if giongi2 left the same sort of post looking to help out and I attacked giongi2 the same way giongi2 would have come at me with both guns blazing too.

Everything about my site screams giongi2 has the wrong idea so it leads me to believe giongi2 could not have even visited the site before slamming me and that is wrong.

As I stated the age thing Shedd was right on and the young fans are the ones driving this music world really but that does not mean we older artists cannot appeal to them with the right promotion.

I am pleasantly surprised that there are some level headed people who have spoken up and I appreciate it very much.

I look forward to learning from you all too.

Dave

Hi Dave.
I was pretty impressed by your site frankly. I have a question please.

Much of what you have said on your blog makes perfect sense to me and I want to ask if you have followed your own advice and where it got you please?

Best.

Check out this guy. He's a DJ who has taken an infomercial, and used it to his advantage to get viewers on You Tube. 1.2 million views in 1-week so far, and it's off of someone else's product.

I suspect the makers of the product don't care very much because it has drawn so many views it may not have gotten otherwise. Killer angle to get noticed. I wonder how many viewers after watching it then went to view or listen to the DJ's own stuff?

The internet is changing things as far as getting yourself out there. And there are very creative ways to do it. I would have to think the amount of work that went into it compared to the traffic it generated was far worth it for the DJ and the maker of the product as well..Win/Win situation all the way around on this one. Very creative thinking.

Enjoy. :D

Everything is always a work in process and I follow my own rules to the T. When I started the site I got 2-3 visitors and to be honest 2 of them were me visiting the site checking the layout etc. One of the things I talk about that I do is a link campaign. You can read about that in this post. http://euphonyproductions.com/build-it- ... -will-come

My traffic has grown to over 75 visitors a day in 2 months time and that is a success in my mind. I have sold 16 songs and made some money from the ads on the site. I gain ground every day but it takes a lot of time.

I have a little help as my Wife has a site called www.Sparkplugging.com and she has over 4500 visitors a day and was recently on the Today Show and interviewed by Katie Couric. She has tried and tested the stuff for 3 years so that made my start a little easier.

A lot of what I write about are things I find out from www.Artistshouse.com great video conferences on music promotion there.

If you want to talk off line some time I would be glad to let you in on everything step by step otherwise this comment would be 12 pages long.

Contact me through the site as with the start here I am a little reserved to post my phone # on the forum. If some will comment that way lord knows what phone calls they might make.

Hi Dave.
I'm a web host (Amongst other boring stuff), and I do know what you are saying.

What I was asking was.
Well let's start here.

You are very good in speech and explanation. (Exceptional in fact). Which is odd in our times.

* I want to know what made you so successful and why you think we should follow that route?

Faith is where the heart is. (So they say?) I have a lot of faith in myself but we are entertainers after all are we not? That sad fact draws back on merry days where a King would ask for just that, entertainment.

So to conclude.
Why is your program so special and what proof of it do you have from personal experience?

I like you Dave, you talk the money.
Thanks for replying.

With that being said, your website has a lot of useful info for bands. I'm an independent musician for hire though... Any advise for session players?

RATSASS IS RIGHT.
DAVE, In some ways I did jump the gun. I was reading ZXYZ's post about Posers, and YOUR post came UP.
After reading all your free information,I have to say 99% of it is good. One of the things I' ve been trying to tell "KRAMERGUY" is you have to have a business plan, and you have to review on a regular basis.
If you read ZXYZs thread about posers, you will see that I didn't really have bad vibes about your posted song. I thought it was good. I just thought you were some one, trying to sell, and not really knowing who they are dealing with.
I just spent some time with a whole lot of really great musicians, most of them, have let me download songs and when I play the on my I TUNES MIX they bring a smile to my face. Thats what I'm talkin bout.
PLEASE ACCEPT MY MOST SINCERE APOLOGY.....

NOW LET ME DO SOMETHING YOU ARE SOOOO GOOD AT.....
YOU ARE THE KIND OF PERSON THAT PATS SOMEONE ON THE BACK WHILE YOUR KICKIN THEIR TEETH IN . SMOOTH MAN ,YOU WENT ON A PERSONAL ATTACK IMMEDIATELY,,,, IMMEDIATELY,,,,,IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!
BIZ TIP , YOU GOTTA KNOW YOUR CUSTOMER BASE, REMEMBER.
LET ME SAY IT AGAIN . YOU WENT ON A PERSONAL ATTACK ,YOU DONT HAVE CLUE AS TO WHO I AM, OR ANY OF THESE GREAT PLAYERS UP HERE!!
HEY CRIP I JUST NEED TO JAM ,GOT ANY TIME ? JEFF THANXS MAN.

Chippy,

Ok

Why should you follow my route is your question?

I do feel that the internet is the current medium where music is being sold and marketing is being done and has been for some time now.

The existence of myspace and facebook music are perfect examples. Everything I read and hear from panels from conferences are all singing the same tune which is what I have been working as a plan so to me that gives social proof to the techniques I recommend. My growing traffic and readers is another. I get 60% return visits and 40% new traffic on average and they spend an average of 8 minutes on my site viewing at least 4 pages. I can tell you it did not start that way Chippy.

Now that said everyone should pick what they feel will work and try anything once within reason. The three biggest things I can contribute to my traffic and sales are:

1. My Weekly Blogs

2. The Link Campaigns

3. Classified ads.

In the ads just tell them you have something that might benefit them and it is free and make sure you deliver that something so you gain credibility.

The reason the Blogs bring traffic is the are genuine and offer value to musical readers and that is the one thing people ask themselves all the time is "What is in it for me? Blogs give that amswer as they can come weekly and see topics that interest them and leave them taking away more than they came with. You can have all the forums and products in the world but if you don't have great content people find value in the ship is sunk.

With link campaigns you are basically networking with successful Bloggers who are where you want to be. If you are genuine with them and patient they will grow top respect you as your heart is in the right place. If you see a successful Blog site and like nothing about it you should not have that be someone you network with as you can not be genuine with that site owner. It does not mean the Blog is bad just means it did not get your juices flowing and that is OK.

One add in is in the Blog Posts you need to Tag your keywords and with you being clearly in the know for the web with being a host I know you know what I mean. I use Word Press and go to Google adword search to see what people search for and tag those words that are related to my post and it took some time but I am getting Google search engine traffic now.

As far a gigging I am not doing that as frankly with 3 kids and a wife and a day job the time is unavailable to put into a live gigging band to sound the way I would need to sound which is perfect.

First impressions you know... I have played over 200 gigs in my life and had a hell of a lot of fun and had great crowds because the music we chose right and we were tight as hell. Today I have to pick the battles I know I can fight well and not spread myself too thin or it all turns to crap.

I looked at your site and I think it could use a Blog Chippy especially with your plan to record and sell an album. If you plan to do that online in my opinion you need other reasons to make people want to come to and back to your site for what you will write next that they will find value in.

By the way I dig the animation on the site it is terrific. I could use some help from you if you are willing and maybe I can help you with what I know. I have been trying to change the appearance of my forum to look more like the rest of the site and I am a bit stumped. I read you had a forum.

Anyway I hope this helps you.

Lets bury the hatchet like I said when you came out with the bullets I took it personally as I think anyone would have. I could just as easily let it go too.

How about we caulk it up to two musicians making some mistakes and move on?

You have no idea who I am and how I could help you the same goes for me to you.

I have a great track record and knowledge of online marketing and might be a resource if you want to start over.

Balls in your court my friend, bounce, bounce, bounce.....

My advice for a sessions player is to network with studios in your area as they know a lot of bands that could get you work. Network with other sessions players too

Then to get your own website unless you have one and if you do link it to your posts everywhere you go and be the squeeky wheel.

Not a myspace site but your own URL that showcases your work at the site. Think of it like your office.

You would not borrow someones office to do business at if you wanted to show that professional together look that makes players pick you over another players so don't do it as a sessions player.

Myspace is a borrowed site. Take a look here if you need guidance on how to do that.

http://euphonyproductions.com/how-to-bu ... ic-website

You need to have a business plan for what ever your business is too.

Go to http://www.artistshousemusic.org and take a look at the great advice there. I learned a lot and I would bet there is some stuff for sessions players too.

I will look around and see what else I can find for you my friend

I totally dig that video. I did not see a clear link to his site and had to go searching and I will bet most did not do that. I made the mistake at first not having a clear song page link on my site and for 3 weeks everyone I talked to said "Where are your songs I can't find them" After that I put the songs in the sidebar and make it obvious. I think your guy may have missed out of a lot of traffic just possibly. He is really talented.

How do you know him or did you come across it by accident?

Either way thanks for the great idea so much

I just ran across it randomly. I don't know that guy. Just thought it was a cool idea.

On you Tube each poster can create a channel. If you click on the name (in blue) in the top right corner, you'll see a page like this:

http://www.youtube.com/user/djsteveporter

He has a lot of information about himself on this page.

You Tube can be a very useful tool for musicians. Maybe that's something you can add to your page. Study up on some You Tube strategies as part of your marketing. Neanderpaul has some really cool vids on You Tube. Look up his name and check out his looping technique. Awesome stuff.

Here's another one I ran across:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQKoC7X882Q

It doesn't really pertain to this thread, I just think it's funny. This band seems to have a great sense of humor about their situation.

Oh my poor Euphony, this reminds me when I had to change a light fixture outside my house, when I removed it there was a wasps nest behind it, no use telling you what happened next. Metaphorically you have done the same thing on this board, these guys come under the label of “been there than that” where they have been and what they have done though is somewhat obscure.

I have no reason to believe that you are not a sincere and an excellent promoter full of good ideas, unfortunately for some people in this forum your attempt to share your experience with them will be as useful as a bib on pig, besides judging by the music posted here, this guys need much more than a promoter they need a miracle maker.

Next time you want to share something with this gang spray some bug repellent first.
