Oh.well.... band sounded freakin' awesome.... I missed playin with the drummer and bassist.... Daayyyaaam are we tight! ....but.... lead vocalist just didn't cut it... setting up audition for another vocalist next week...

Let's hear some good live show's sounds!!! .. I used to carry a cassette-recorder to every gig we did!! 2 mics. It aint too much trouble!!! And you'll definitely be glad U did in your older daze!!! It's worth it Crip, I promise!

Funny you should mention that... I was just talkin' with the bassist from my other band "Rat Salad" and he already went and purchased a nice recorder that he's going to run through the PA board... I wish he recorded our last gig... it sounded awesome....ummm.... according to our fans and the bar owner...

Yeah, back in the day, we had a cassette recorder mounted in our fx rack. I ran sound from onstage and kept plenty of 90 minute cassettes. Worked out perfect 45 minutes per side, 40 to 45 minute sets. One Saturday night a young guy that I worked with, Blake, had brought some friends out that had never heard us play. Of course, at the beginning of each set, I would put in a fresh blank tape and hit record. The following Monday, at work, Blake said they had had a great time, but that on the way home from listening to us, he asked the other guys what they thought about the band. One of his friends said, "Pretty good for a bunch of lip sync'ers." Blake asked him what he was talking about and he said, "Oh I saw them. Before each set they put a tape in and just lip sync'd to it." I guess that was a compliment, in a way.

Hmm, never thought about that, Ratsass. We did see one of Rush's sound guys popping in cassettes left and right one time at a concert. Thought that they might have been cheeating a bit, so I can see the misconception.
During our band's live recordings I kept the tapes & recorder close and the back-end towards the audience (they probly just thought it was another piece of miscellanious sound-gear) so I guess they couldnt really tell what I was doing.
We listened to the tapes afterwards for self-critiques; what sounded good, what sounded bad, audience responses, etc. We thought it was a useful tool. Plus, now 30 years later, drug 'em out (it's amazing cassettes lasted that long) digitized 'em and put 'em up on the web.. lol..

Either I wil be or they will be.... I remember the last crazy fights that broke out at our last biker gig. I just hope that Hells Angels and the Pagans don't both show up at this gig.... I don't care about me getting hurt as much as my equipment!
