Hell... my wife is the one who pushed me to pick up the axe again... She's also the one who does all our graphics and she's now our manager... unlike my 1st wife who actually destroyed any chances of me making a career out of music which was intended before i met the beeyotch!

If you think trying to be in a band has drama, just wait till your married ! Ive been lucky enough to find one that puts up with and supports my music. Since 11/18/77. The way I try to keep the peace is to spend as much time with her as my guitars. I dont have any other life except for my business which starts more problems than the music. I try to get her involved any way I can .

I thought we all played music to get chicks, not keep em.

I learn something new here every day.

Good Luck Jimmy, sorry for your loss.

I'm out roughly 5 nights a week now. On the off nights I occasionally go to open mics, and have started mentoring local bands and musicians on the side as well.

I do oftentimes feel bad about neglecting my wife, but she's been very tolerant and supportive, and this might sound crazy, but after 8 years of marriage, things have gotten better since I started back in the music..

Absense does make the heart grow fonder, it seems. We fight less, the time we spend together is much higher quality, etc.. I think she also sees that.

So Jimmy, I've been in your shoes with GF's before I met my wife, and some of them couldn't handle the fact that they weren't 100% of my attention. They can't be happy enough with 80%, or even 90%. That's just too needy for me, and I'm betting for you as well. All the compatibility in the world can't overcome that. I'd say lick your wounds and move on.. oh.. and that silent treatment sh*t is a pet peeve of mine, I return the favor... permanently.

Jimmy, at your age this is not a problem, ,,just say Mo. Or "Next". However at my age 54, I have learned that repeating the same mistakes and expecting different results is "insanity". But it took me a long time to learn that. So after 3 wives and a 5 yr live in. I went to Russia, played blues, met lots of women and had a blast. I could hardly get my head in the door of the airplane to return home. I met my wonderful wife in Riga Latvia in 03. When we talked marriage, she told me I was the boss, but I had to agree that she was always right. Works for me. We are more in love everyday.
When I decided to form a band and make music , she jumped right in. An elephant stepped on her ear she says, but she runs the studio as far as tech goes. She learned Cubase, now on Protools. She makes every gig , keeps an eye on me, and with good reason considering my past.
When you find the right girlfriend, you will know it, and you will be more inclined to give her the time she deserves and she in turn will cover your ass.
Keep the Faith, Bluemax

Thanks for the advice everyone, I appreciate it. I told her up front that I only had a couple of days a week for her but I guess she thought she could change me. Hell, I can't even change me.

Jimmy as Ive gotten back out into the dating world Ive found a lot of women like that. I try to be upfront and say #1 in my life is my kids #2 Then probably my job, cause it allows me to live the extravagant lifestyle of a rockstar #3 Would be music in my band, although it sometimes makes its way to the top of my list #4 Women

They say OK OK OK, then not long after its like they never heard you and want to make you into what they want.

Most women seem to want a Cowboy until they get one, then they want to turn him into a Wuss.

Music is very hard on relationships!

My wife thinks it's great me being in the band and all.
But she was a Kung Fu widow long before I started with the band.
For a long time I trained every day or night. Was a lot of stress in the family until she started doing Kung Fu with me.
But we've been married 27 years or so.

I have to keep mine busy doing something. If you let her join in some capacity and make her feel like she is a part of it youll have it whipped. Otherwise she might whip you. Or leave.

I like it when I get whipped !
